I'm married for 17 years.. We lived in Dubai, Qatar, Oman, Canada all these years. We were on and off to all these countries in all these years. Now we are in Ottawa. This is the first time that I'm going to finish 3 years at a stretch at one place, otherwise I'm shifting after every 8- months to 1.5 years to different places, within a country or sometimes to different countries. Again we are planning by next year to move to another country. Opportunities come, please grab them.
I love the way you guys aligning your life with ur life goals and really appreciate how you guys work as a team! !!!! All the best n looking forward to see n learn from your journey as well. God bless!

Talking of the kids, as I have told you before that I was in India at the same time as you were. I live in Austria (Europe), and here you can’t take the kids out of the school for more than one week; I had to go to the court and fight with the education ministry to get 2 weeks’ holiday for my kids. Which the judges gave me in the end quoting that the kids are going to learn much more during this travel in India than they would in school during the same time.

Best decision of your life. Since your elder son is also US citizen, he can sponsor your PR after 10 years. No point of living in Canada. Doing low paying grunt jobs, shiver in cold and pay heavy mortgage. Also, if you are in tech degrees, funding in US is out of world. I came to US to study from India and did not pay a penny. In fact, at end of my masters I had more than 10,000 USD in saving. Compare yourself, a tech person can easily get 150k+ in Texas and a 4BHK costs less than 600k. And in Toronto it's 150K of pay in high spying tech and similar home will cost 2 million. I lived in both the countries, if there was some way for me to get green card, I would dump this Canadian PR and citizenship next year and leave. Many people I know who mover to Canada from US went back.
Good luck to you and hope your kids enjoy the new adventure
I have lived in Canada for 18 years. This is an absolutely amazing country. People that come here for the most part end up making a very good life, they buy houses, drive nice cars and have great schools for their children, however unfortunately due to its close approximation to the US, it suffers from a constant comparison complex and people very often develop a kind of a FOMO that plays on them while they live in Canada. This to me is the biggest problem. The US is different animal, its a very unequal country, people either have it good or have it bad in extremes.

At the end of the day, it's totally your guys decision. Ravish, I was in the same boat last year trying to decide when/how to move to US from Toronto. In short, my recommendation is Just Do IT!!!! My kids at that time were 12 & 10 of age and we both (me and wife) are in the same age and professional group as you folks. Here were some of our reasons for the move: - Time is limited - take the chance now than later and live without regrets of inaction. - Growth: better and more job/business opportunities in USA vs. Canada not just for mid-career professionals like us but for the kids and future generations. - Access to more and better educational institutional choices for higher education where actual talent congregates and not just getting lost in wild migrating herd (you know what I mean ;) - Mindset development for the kids in American system; true land of endless possibilities. I already see that in them within 1 year of being here. The secondary education is definitely better than Brampton public and private schools where my kids went. - Great traveling and weather options in the continental US especially having lived in Canada for more than 23 years and dreading the winter onslaughts Well there were a lot of lessons learnt during our transition and would love to share if interested. Getting green card is 15-30 years battle for Indians. On TN visa you are not allowed to apply for green card. On H1B you will have long wait. So you will never feel the same job and visa security as in Canada.
I see lot of people who went to Canada due to GC backlog......are now returning back to US, as their priority dates are getting current. Personally know two people, one just waiting on Consular interview, other one decided to just move on TN and filed AOS recently. If that is case, you can reclaim your old priority date.......karkay regret karna is better, as no hassle of H1b and all the pain associated with that. You will work and live in US with freedom and choice , which you cannot experience on work visa. The perspective and experience of US will be very different when you are not tied to employer on a work visa.
