150w RMS isn't bad just to add some deep end to a stock system. That could actually be a decent addition for midbass.

A lot of these companies exaggerate the power figures. It could be a 100 or even 50 watts RMS.

thats also what i thought about could be a good way to get midbass going if you have a sub in the rear thats cut off at 60 hz or similar

The big rear subwoofer in my Navigator rolls off above 45 hz due to the interior size and cancellation so I added a front sub. I tried a powered Rockville 8" underseat enclosure. I measured the response using an acoustical RTA with the enclosure under the passenger seat, under the 2nd row seat and in the passenger footwell. The footwell gave an extra 6dB across 50hz-80hz compared to under the seat. So the footwell is the best location, but can be in the way. Under the seat is more practical, but you need more cone area and/or power to get the same output levels. PS, that Rockville was rated at 100 watts (400 peak), but it only put out around 60w.

These are perfect for under the front seat as midbass units. Saves you from needing extra amp channels.
Thanks for giving it a fair chance and not completely trashing it like other KZreadrs would.

Nope. My job is to simplify your purchasing decisions. I'm lucky to get to do stuff like this. Every product, at least, deserves a try.
Pro tip: always test these type of systems with and without the phase button selected. Sometimes it makes a difference even if you've done your due diligence to maintain phase in your installation process. Sometimes this is due to OEM processing, sometimes it's due to poor product design.

Great tip. Thanks
1 under each seat might actually sound OK. But personally I want so so much more lol.
My thinking is for the everyday, casual listener that doesn't want to lose cargo space, a small enclosure of around .7 cubes, (2) 6.5" subs, powered off of 300-500 rms would satisfy most and only total maybe $300 and outperform an all-in-one joint like this.

I tried a very familiar setup for a customer. He wanted a 6.5 Subwoofer as he wasn’t that into Bass. He wanted more Clarity. Needless to say, he said the 6.5 had too much bass at 200Rms tuned to 40hz ??? Ended up putting some 6x9s in a box for him. He was happy….some people just ain’t built for the boom boom 😂

I got 2 ct sound tropo 6.5's in my van, ported and tuned around 47hz on 500watts rms, they slam in the back of my odyssey! Box is bigger than I wanted but I'm pretty happy overall!
I installed a kicker hideaway8 under my seat in a chevy bolt ev. It really fills in some bottom end sound which that car desperately needs. From what i hear, even the "upgraded" bose setup is trash and this is the way to go in such a small car since i need to carry tools in the trunk. Its a market that im glad exists

Good point
Ok we need more videos of under the seat subs!!
Holy crap that radiator being hidden up in there like that is genius! In a nutshell, a radiator acts the same way a port would. So its response is a lot lower than if there were no radiator. That's why all the modern Bluetooth speakers' bass sounds so good. Also, somehow I knew you were a repair tech just from the way you handled your work area lol. Ive been a repair tech my whole life. My shop and house just burned down a couple months ago though... :(

Wow. Sorry to hear about your home. Hopefully you fully recover too normal soon.
I recently put a Kicker Hideaway in the footwell of my S2000. With it being a 2dr convertible and only 2 x 6 1/2 speakers in the door, I needed something that didn’t take up space. Man, I was really impressed. No it’s not brain shaking performance, but it is so much better than what I had. Now I’m looking at putting one into my 2023 Integra. With that being a hatchback, I should have a bit of db gain out of it as well. These little units are impressive for what they are and their costs.
I have a similar unit mounted to the back wall of my truck. It turns the entire rear wall into a sub. Huge difference
You are only getting half of the volume with only 1 RCA hooked up. Put a 2 way splitter on it and you will get both inputs connected and see how it sounds. 👌🏻

Yea, @robwarejr.1494 just pointed that out, as well. I'll retest it off-line and give an update in a future video.
Awesome test, I'm in the situation in my small van of just 6.5 door speakers up front and theres just no bass, hearing the difference this made with just your rear 6.5s showed me an underseat all in one like this will fill in the sound nicely, not shaking the place down bass but just giving a full complete sound, great review thanks

Any time!
These pieces definitely have their place. I've sold them to customers who aren't willing to spend a lot of money, that like how their stock system sounds, but want to add just a little extra bass. They don't have to buy a separate enclosure, sub, amp, line level converter, and amp kit. One product and their vehicle remains relatively unmodified. You have to temper expectations and if you do so most people are ecstatic.

My 2010 Buick LaCrosse CXL actually bumps with the factory 6.5 components up front and 6.5 rears!…sounds even better now that I upgraded to JBL GTO 6.5 comps up front and GTO 6.5 coaxials in the rear!

Nice to know.
I've installed a few under seat subwoofers. They're acceptable for people who absolutely don't want to sacrifice trunk space and it does round out the sound especially in smaller vehicles. But for the money there is no comparison to having a 10 or 12 sealed in the trunk. Or if you actually enjoy bass there are so many cheap options for ported 2 12's.
Nice, lil guy!
I just installed something very close to this in a 2013 Hyundai Veloster that belongs to a friend of mine. It was the Tochinkar 10" 800W Slim Under Seat Powered Subwoofer. There are several different versions of it on Amazon with different name branding that I found. I had very little hope going into the install with the 800w rating and 15 amp fuse. However, this little thing surprised me. They definitely have their place in the market and they seem to be well built. Only downside I found was the power and ground wires. Very skimpy.

See this will fit nice in my setup , I have 2014 dodge charger it has the 6x9 upfront for door speakers and 3.5 in the dash and 6x9 in the rear deck.. I’m thinking of grabbing 2 of the 10s and put them under the front seats. It should make an astronomical difference!
Make a new slim box for it the rite way👍 I'm watching 👀
I’ve wanted to try them in a bandpass configuration
I would think that those who want to pull the bass a bit more forward and improve midbass at the drivers head could use one of these along with a full sub system in the trunk. You would need a dsp to tweak it into the system.

I plan on going with two Infinity Basslink MINI's under the front seats and a 10 inch MB Quart subwoofer in the back of a TrailBlazer.
So it's actually an 8in woofer and with the enclosure included it's a 10. Overall it's a good unit if you only have 4-6 in drivers in the Car. Thanks for the Review. (side note) 2 of them might really make some good "Punch" in a Sub Compact.
@BudgetBassHead

I was thinking the same.
I'm wondering if there was some bass cancellation going on when mounted under the seat. Maybe if they added a phase switch. Did it sound better in the trunk vs under the seat? The only other alternative is a small inexpensive powered bass tube. Might also be good for those wanting some extra mid bass fill up front if you have (like you said) smaller door speakers.

It actually does have a phase switch. I simply forgot to test it while it was under the seat.
I woukd like 2 units that produce low end for a cadillac xlr. Esp if i can hide them under the dash or seats

Look at the Infinity Basslink MINI. It's rated to 30 Hz.
I hope your thinking about making a super flat horn for that sub sir
One for each seat. Also would have been helpful to see if setting the gain properly for the people interested in these units.

The bass shakers you speak of are transducers. … Another consideration is that these type of enclosures work better when mounted to a solid part of the vehicle much like the other stock speakers in the car. Most diy (non car audio persons) just Velcro them under the seat. Proper mounting likely makes a difference as well.
@BudgetBassHead

I agree. They do come with metal mounting hardware and the manual does have them mounted in multiple configurations.

makes a better stage actually sounds good with doors and under seat adding some Sq style don't know where bass is coming from its just there filling in
Im curious if that flat 10" is louder than a 6.5 sub in ported box in the trunk?
@BudgetBassHead
14 күн бұрын
It's not.
I like the video, but why did you only hook into one RCA terminal that didn't give the true power of the woofer? I would like to see you do another video with both RCA connectors attached to the under seat. Sub I have a 2014 Impala with the same stock system

Cool. Let us know what you think of it.
That ain't to bad. I had two twelves JBL that were rated at 200 which I found out after they blew when I pulled em out to check the wiring. I got fooled by the 1000 watts logo on the front. Now they just take up space and don't even work -_-
I like alot more bass than these put out but a good option for some guys
I’ve made my own using mb quart discus total fail. Like he said my 6.5 doors had better bass response.
nice video but uderseat subs are kinda useless my opinion
Hey BBH, are you available to do a system install? What's your contact info?
Put some 6.5 on an amp and u would be surprised how much bass they can put out. 🤣
It's worth it for the average listener. If you're a car audio enthusiast, it's not worth it.
The Juice ain't worth the squeeze!

🤣 You funny
I'm calling them on their B.S. That's not a 10" woofer. Maybe a 7 1/2" if one is feeling generous. I would have my doubts that it's even 400 watts.
how old are you bro?????? people still putting booming systems in they cars??? wild old school.........or you from the country.......at this point the factory system loud enough frfr......ijs you had to be running round the 80's on some BS!!!!!!!! my brother in law still got the booming systems in his wips........he damn near 60 out this itch!!!!!!!!
Infinity makes a set of 6x9 kappa components speakers as far as i know there the only ones that have 6x9 components sets. They also have a power subwoofer sealed with passive radiator. They also have the kappa 61/2 components there really nice 👍✌️👌🫡
