Are the Texas Longhorns SEC Ready? (HCS Cut)

Спорт

Are the Texas Longhorns ready for the SEC? Recently, ESPN's Greg McElroy predicted they would be the next first team to win the College Football Playoff. Heartland College Sports' Pete Mundo discusses why this isn't all that far-fetched.

Texas fan here (I laughed when I saw the upside down sign, well played). I agree with you on most everything you said. My only slight contention is the idea that Texas has always recruited well, that our problem was never "the Jimmy's and the Joe's". Texas has been in the top 10 of team rankings pretty consistently, but they've not recruited well *at key positions* for over a decade. When Sark got to Texas one of his first questions was why Texas had more WR on scholarship than OL. We recruited poorly in the trenches and developed worse. When the Texas haters ask why I (we) feel that the results under Sark will be different than his predecessors, that's the first thing I point to. We have been deliberate and aggressive in recruiting/developing inside out under Sark.

They know everything you said to be the truth. The lie they are telling themselves is their safe space. For all intents and purpose. We are a SEC program in football and basketball. There is no reason for Pete to be worrying about our program. Other than to do what the 'big 12' has been best at. Milking our name for every single penny they can make off of it!

We had some nice shiny athletes, but had bad OL and DL players.

OL had some dudes, DL was weak, you're right. And thanks for just appreciating the sign being down and not freaking out over it!

@heartlandcollegesports OL didn't have dudes, which was the problem. Great video breakdown on what went wrong at texas: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Ymd41NaQlq3bpKw.htmlsi=4CN7Sfape7u47pR2

@heartlandcollegesports We had an entire 10 year stretch without a single OL drafted in ANY round. Our best OL of the last 15 years was Connor Williams, and he converted from a TE to OT. We've been objectively bad in the trenches. So bad, that when Sark first arrived he is said to have remarked, "Why do we have more WR on scholarship than OL?" Why indeed. As for the Horns down, you'd be hard pressed to find many that get worked up over it. Not saying they don't exist, just that they don't speak for the vast majority of fans. Throw em up or throw em down, like PT Barnum once said, "I don't care what you write about me, just spell my name right."

I thought the sign was supposed to be the right side up again.Because Texas won the conference in football not to mention. They are pretty much dominating every sport in the conference this year as well.

The Texas turnaround started with Sarkisian landing Kelvin Banks and rebuilding the trenches on both sides of ball.

You, obviously, don't even know what "recruited well" means. Son, Texas had not recruited well in the trenches in over a decade. You have no clue

Your team probably couldn't even get into the playoffs. Shut your L7 🍑 up hating Washington was a dangerous team. It's a reason they were one of the final two teams. Dudes like you don't understand football stick to being a fan & a former JV standout
