pro tip, clean the screen and apply the screen protector in the bathroom directly after a steaming hot shower. the water in the air will keep all of the dust away. i live in a very hairy house, with 2 dogs and a cat, and i've always put on my glass screen protectors after a shower. it really works. i promise. i've had glass screen protectors on my iphone 4, 5, and now am about to apply one on my 6s plus.

+D Perez They used to be impossibly to put on. I remember having an original iPhone and iPhone 3G and screen protectors back then were garbage. Now they are a little easier but half the time it hardly seems worth it given the bubbles, dust etc lol

  • @dimosk7389

    @dimosk7389

    8 жыл бұрын

+D Perez a little trick. before you remove the protective film, put the screen protector on your phone and find the perfect position. then take 2 strips of adhesive tape, and stick them on top of the protector to the left or right side of it, leaving half of the tape sticking out to the side of the phone. then wrap these all the way to the back of your phone. now you can lift your protector from one side, like opening a door, andyou dont lose the perfect positioning. now, clean the screen as usual, remove the protective film and drop the protector on the screen fast, without worrying about allignment, and without giving time to dust to settle on the screen i hope i make sense, but trust me, i use this method and i have 100% success with not a single spec of dust trapped inside

@@burgerking220 no, the glass is hard so when it absorb a sharp point impact it will transfer it to a larger surface on the screen, reducing the pressure on the screen, while plastic is soft so any sharp impact will just punctured and go down to the screen glass. Also glass is less prone to scratches because it's harder than plastic

  • 7 жыл бұрын

Exactly. People have these glass protectors on their phones, and just cause the protector cracks, they think it's working. The fact that your protector cracked doesn't mean your screen would have without it. People just don't understand how durable the screens on todays phones are. Just like on this video, which proves absolutely nothing. Some small rocks get dropped on the phone, and the phone is dropped on gravel a few times. Ok, the protector got boken, but the screen is intact. Now do the same thing without the protector, and we'll see. Would anything have happened without one? I think not. I need a proper comparison test to believe they work, and I still haven't seen one.

Me and my sister both got a iPhone 7. I got a screen protector the first week. After 4 months, the protector had 3 major cracks across the screen and some corners were chipped off a little but it didn’t bother me knowing that my screen was being well protected. I took off the screen protector and checked on the actual screen and found ZERO scratches on it like brand new and my sisters had a bunch of tiny scratches on it :)

Absolutely right. I just upgraded from my iphone 7 to the xsmax and come to find out otterbox defender series no longer has a screen built in. So i went straight to the apple store and got the belkin screen protector put on perfectly and despite bad reviews the screen protector is fine. I have never broken a screen except for a very small crack in the bezel of my old iphone 6 and all my phones spend there life in a case especiallywith how expensive my new xs max was. Its worth the inconvenience of a bulky case.

Pro Tip: When your installing your tempered glass screen protector, align the screen protector with your phone and gently place it on top of the phone screen without applying no pressure. When your ready to stick on your screen protector to your phone, just light press the middle of the screen protector and watch as the screen protector adheres to the phone without leaving a single air bubble.

The fact that tempered glass is harder doesn't necessarily mean it protects the glass better against impacts. It does mean it will scratch less. The video maker claims that using a conventional screen protector with the same tests the screen probably would have been damaged but I see no support for this claim in the tests performed in this video. I highly recommend the Benks brand. Got it on ebay, had 1 for about 1.5 yrs before it began cracking on its own, but felt just like the original screen. When replacing it with a new one, the original screen was still in mint condition, which will help if I decide to sell my phone later. FYI, the phone was kept in my jeans front pocket. -- Definitely follow the advice below about applying the screen in the restroom after taking a shower to minimize dust. I didn't the 1st time around & regretted it.

The screen protector that was sent to me was a more inexpensive off-brand one that was really rated or tested for anything extreme, but I would have liked to see how the more expensive ones would have held up.

I am so mad when someone feeds people a lot of baloney and doing it with confidence! The reason pieces don't come off is because of a plastic layer to which the glass is glued!

The cheap ones on eBay often give you a buffer from direct drops on the screen. However it should be noted that most eBay screen proctors are more fragile than your phone's glass. If you break your protector, that doesn't mean your screen would have broke. Often what you have with the $40 protectors are things like warranties and free replacements, as well as benefits like curved edges or finger print resistant smudging. With eBay protectors you can get them cheap, but they come with no warranties, might be slightly more fragile, are cookie-cut for a phone model, but are cheap enough to where you can easily buy multiples. I personally buy eBay, all I'm looking for in a protector is cheap impact buffering.

Walter H. White 1st off, what I'm about to say might sound negative, but that doesn't mean I'm saying to avoid eBay protectors, I personally buy them all the time and prefer them than any other protector just for savings alone. 2nd, to your post, Not really though. I owned Supershieldz for a HTC M8 and a Galaxy S6. They're part of the "cheap chinese" I was talking about. The 1st warning flag is when one brand seems to have a protector for every make and model out there, or when their site even says the word "USD" No American company is going to go through that trouble. The thing is about cookie-cutter protectors, even the glass ones, is that most protectors are the exact same product. They're wholesale blank units made in mass for cheap, bought in bulk, re-branded, re-packaged, and re-sold as a stand-alone product. But most importantly... their marketing can't be taken at face-value. What I mean is what the package says, isn't always going to be true. I'll start with the 6 things on the package, and move onto the "lifetime warranty" And you can observe what I'm going to say if you have a Supershieldz protector, or even another protector if you got it from ebay. #1 Anti-fingerprint. A lie. Anyone with a glass protector that they spend less than $5 on can test this, and likely already knows this. If it says on the package it's anti-finger print, don't be fooled, it still collects fingerprints. #2 HD Film. Fancy words, but no. This is a transparent affixed to the protector for safety-sake. It keeps a broken protector from being dangerous to handle. Its not HD, its just clear. Protectors that aren't so clear are non-glass anti-glare/matte protectors. If its glass, it isn't HD, its just glass. #3 Real Glass. No argument here. #2 and #4's properties exist because its glass. With many protectors you'll find that packaging will make like 3 or 4 benefits of glass, and boast it as a feature, like the product is special. Its not. #4 Extreme sensitive. Nope. Its just thin enough to prevent obstructing inputs to your digitizer. Your finger glides cause its a smooth glass surface. #5 9H Ultra Hard. Does not exist with protectors. This is the least I'll type, but it's the biggest lie. #6 Oleophobic coating. Another lie right up there with #1 and #5. Just as sure as fingerprints, this/these protectors will show smudging oils, and moister isn't repelled. Take a phone, keep it level, and get a droplet of water and observe. The water will do what it can to hold onto the glass of you slightly tilt your device. If there was an oleophobic coating, that water bead would jettison itself off that surface with almost no effort. # Lifettime Warranty: Good luck finding an Amazon/eBay shop that will honor returns older that 30 or 90 days depending on shop. They'll almost surely direct you to the website of whatever that "brand" is, and ask you to inquire returns there. Most likely being a company created through Chinese-wholesale products, you can expect response times, headaches, long ship times, and if you're lucky, manage to score a replacement and have it in hand in less than a month. You got about a (and im making this stat up) 50/50 shot of never hearing from them again after you send your broken protector in. These "companies" bank on the assumption that because you may have spent less than $5 a unit, that you're not going to hold them to their word or challenge them (not like you could). And most people don't. This is warranty in name only. And you better have kept that super-disposable packaging if you attempt a return. Because they're cookie-cutter protectors, they know that their product is the same as everyone else's. They wont even consider replacing unless you have the package to prove its theirs. # Bonus: I noticed on that page it mentioned "bubble free" Yeah... thats what glass does. Isn't really a feature. Still though. I recommend getting a cheap glass protector for impact-buffering alone, however their "features" they print on the packaging or type on the list page are either most likely false or stretched truths.

Well the expensive ones wouldn't be the same, but they wouldn't have much or any advantage over the cheap ones. Like take RhinoShield for example. They have their own screen protectors. Thats their brand, they make it. That protector is cut for devices unique to their company. It should be noted that any legit company in the United States that sell their own screen protectors, doesn't make screen protectors for virtually every phone regardless of make and model. However, some brands like Supershieldz, MagicGuardz, Apex, EZ Guards, etc... all use the exact same product, under different packaging. Brands like Aegis and Pavoscreen are also chinese, but they're also a little pricier, and come with an extra feature in their kits that assist people with perfect-application to a device. I'm sure many of us have ordered several glass protectors for several phones we've owned, under several brands. Like, isn't it suspicious to anyone that brands like Apex and Magicguardz come with the exact same package shape, exact same cleaning towelettes, the exact same dust-removal stickers? That everything is the exact same except the branding of the package of outside? I don't know the parent company name, but a few chinese manufacturing facilities are making cheap protectors that can fit dimensions of any make and model, and they're sold to other Chinese companies that add their own branding to the outside cases, and resell them. And these chinese companies can add anything to their packaging they want to get you to buy them. They know that if they're in China, and you buy a glass protector for $3, and you're not happy with it, what are you going to do about it? They can print things like "9H hardness" on screen protector package, even though Corning's cutting-edge glass on phones aren't even 9H. Or "Oleophobic coating" that prevents fingerprints and oil smudging, yet the protector still fingerprints and smudges. Even with the lies, I totally recommend people just buy the cheaper protectors. Its still another layer of glass. I'm just saying that the $5 and below protectors arent the same as the $20 and up, but you're not going to get much benefit at all with the more expensive ones, and the cheap ones lie about their features. Your phone is likely Corning Gorilla Glass, so a screen protector is like putting a light jacket over a heavy jacket. Which is better to have and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Its just that I've owned many phones, especially out of the last 5 years. I hold onto one for a few months, and I ultimately sell it and use that money to buy a new one. I've owned a G1 (The 1st Android phone), A Galaxy, Galaxy S2, S3, S6, S7 Edge, Note 4, HTC Evo 3D, HTC M7, M8, M9, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, LG G1, G2, G3, G5, OnePlus 3T, and I'm sure I might be missing another phone or two from that list, but my point is, I know screen protectors. They're the 1st thing I buy for any device I've owned except for the 1st 3 devices on the list I've worn bare. I've noticed and learned the similarities of many screen protectors. And its not just screen protectors, but other accessories too.

It's depends on how your phone falls, if the impact point is on the frame then the frame will squeeze the glass and caused it to crack while keeping the screen protector intact, the screen protector only help if your phone is fall while the screen is facing down so the protector could absorb the shock or something fall directly on your screen

In my opinion, if you would have dropped your phone the way you did, or dropped rocks on it as shown on the video, without the added tempered glass, the phone would have SURVIVED WITHOUT ANY SCRATCH anyway. The tempered glass layer shattered because it is weaker than the actual glass of the phone, not because it is saving your phone's life. Period. Of course, they keep you believing the opposite way in order to sell you tempered glass protectors. Just my two cents.

I was able to find a good screen protector for my Droid Turbo as well as a really good, highly rated case, for a total of 15 bucks. The solution is to not waste money on otter boxes, and buy any other similar case with a higher rating (I got Incipio, as well as "Mr. Shield" protector).

how easy is it for the Tempered Glass itself to get scratched? My wife just bought one and has done nothing to warrant any kind of scratched (just keeping in her her pocket and using it) and the protector already has some scratches and dings. Took it to the place we got the screen protector and he said it's doing what it's supposed to but I feel like the actual protector shouldn't get damaged that easily. Thoughts?

I highly recommend Zagg. I've had Best Buy price match their glass screen protectors for under $19. I paid Best Buy to install it and if they screw it up they just pull another one off of the shelf at no charge. Also, if I break the glass I just email Zagg and they send a new one for the cost of shipping ($4). When it arrived I take it back to Best Buy and they reinstall at no additional charge. I've done this for all my families phones and never had a problem.

Would one of these work with an Otter Box Pro on an iPhone 7? Like would the screen still work? I know it may be overkill, but the Otter Box one is thinner.

Glass screen protectors are totally not worth it, and if they ever were, factories would install them by default. I've had many experiences in my life where an average fall wouldn't harm a phone, but a similar average fall would harm the same phone with a glass protector on its screen. The only real protection they offer is for scratches.

RSpyman I reckon you are right, they only protect against scratches. Still if you like me can get one for $5 or less it might be worth it. That combined with a sturdy phone armor and you've got a fighting chance against drops.

I have one of those on my phone right now and it just saved my phone screen. I am about 5" (no dip im a kid) and I dropped it on concrete... All that happened was a little crack that doesnt even affect the screen. Its a little thin streak and its really worth it. I have a samsung galaxy core prime, and its actually really durable. I reccomend it
