I had a Rans Trizard, Delta many years ago and while it was a fun trike to ride I found out very quickly how unstable it was on a "speedier" turn. I sold it and have had Tadpoles ever since.

Seams most people like tadpoles. There's a place for the delta's, it's just a smaller market.

@@LaidBackCycles deltas are really nice for loaded touring, sidewalk parks, and charity races. They dont enable sporty steering or fast descents.

I rode a Catrike 559 from 2018 until last year when I broke my left femur. It’s healed but I cannot get out of the trike without a lot of help even with assist bars. I bought a Hase Trigo and can ride again.

I've seen some tadpoles just blazing fast on farm roads and rolling hills. I like them. Please use the hi vis flag and flashers. They really do help drivers recognize you.

Greetings from Germany, I ride an Anthrotech Tadpole Trike after a massive stroke, and the best way to get it in the car is always with the rear wheel first between the two front seats and the back seat folded down 😉

Great video. Nice stability comments from other viewers. As former captain of a big team on a double vision , stability is a concern at speed.

Thanks! Always keep your speed appropriate to the style of trike you have. Trikes that are higher of the ground should be treated like an SUV not a Porsche Turbo 911 and trikes that are low to the ground should not be going off road. I like to go fast, so I have a low to the ground trike and have a tall flag :)

Your experience with Hase appears to be bit out of date. The Lepus, for example, is light-years ahead of your description of Deltas. I have a non-electric Lepus and will only give it up when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

I’m surprised that you didn’t mention that a tadpole is a lot safer/stable than a delta when it comes to emergency maneuvers. Having one wheel up front leads to more roll overs. That’s why there are more three wheeled tadpole gasoline or electric vehicles (Polaris Slingshot, Can-Am Spyder, Vanderhall, Morgan, Aptera, T-Rex, etc).

Good info, Mickey, but you didn't mention one difference that means a lot to me - on my tadpole Catrike, I ride with my hands in a relaxed position on the wrist rests, down low. I'd find it uncomfortable and tiring to have my hands up in the air. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my Catrike fits in the back of our Prius, and I can lift it in and out by myself (I'm a 70+ woman only 5' tall).

In most cases, a child under 12 just won't be able to reach the pedals even with modifications. You could attach a Burley Bee Bike Trailer or something of the sort.

It is! The only Catrike models that don't have an adjustable seat would be the Expedition and 700; all other Catrike models do adjsut.
