    With how the Lizard's basically straight out of a classic horror story/movie it'd make perfect sense to label the idea of him existing in real life as utterly horrifying. I mean think about it, him being a murderous, and animalistic lizard man is already a scary enough idea, but to also have him be extremely intelligent and being able to make other humans become lizard monsters like him really ramps up the horror element of him ten fold. It still surprises me that Sony hasn't once considered doing a hardcore horror movie out of him given how they're willing to make movies off of Spiderman villains/anti heroes like Venom, Morbius and Kraven. Seriously in the right hands it could be awesome and potentially make The Lizard into an effective horror icon too.

    I’m forever terrified of the Lizard ever since I read the story about when he ate his son. It’s the fact that after Conners mind completely shut down, the Lizard _Evolved._ Crazy freak got new powers. Caused massive chaos. Death, violence and sex on the street. Honestly Spectacular managed to highlight how Norman is a terrifying and a terrible person in almost every way a person could be; as a supervillain, as a CEO, as a scientist, as a gang leader, as a boss, as a dad. Especially as a dad. Like maybe the only exception was a mentor and lets face it that's just because the show was cancelled.

  • @tentonmotto6779

    @tentonmotto6779

    8 ай бұрын

    @@gota7738 Exactly! The lucid evil Norman is by far my favorite version of the character. I know that "Jekyll and Hyde" tragic Norman is far more prevalent and popular, but I never got the appeal. For me, the split personality robs Norman of agency and moral culpability as a villain. Split personality centers the conflict around Norman's mental illness, rather than his villainous philosophy. As a result you can rarely see Spider-Man opposing Green Goblin on a philosophical level, it is mostly about stopping a crazed lunatic. Even when some works do give Norman/Goblin some sort of philosophy, like in No Way Home, authenticity of the character is highly questionable. It is not the actual person holding those views talking, it is serum (basically cocaine) talking. That makes Goblin's philosophy seem less serious and relevant, which just flattens the character all around. The Spectacular Spider-Man's Norman is fully aware of what he is doing. He makes a conscious choice to be evil. He fully embraces the dark Nietzechean philosophy and truly believes himself to be above everyone else. No "muh Harry" or crazy antics. He is full-blown Dostoyevsky-style villain, a predator, who dominates people during the day and puts on a mask to dominate them more directly during the night. A true opposite of a Peter, who serves people during the day and puts on a mask to serve them even more during the night. That's where the thematic potential of the character actually comes to light because Peter does not have to just beat a mentally ill guy, he must prove Norman wrong.

So, what kills normal people in armour (shockwave, since human internal organs are successively to shock) won’t phase him much. Kingpin I feel like would be pretty horrifying in real life. Not because of his physical strength, but because of his wealth, intelligence and how he has nearly everyone in his pocket. Imagine if you were a regular New Yorker who crossed or wronged The Kingpin. He could easily pull some strings to have your assets frozen, buy out your business. Frame you for a crime, blackmail you into being a subordinate for him, threaten your family. And you don’t even have to do something bad to him for him to eff you over. Like one time, a waiter handed Fisk a check at his favorite restaurant where he was never charged for his meals, and the poor dude got his hand broken beyond repair. Dude is legitimately a menace.

In the comics Venom just kept taking spider man’s body out in the night which let Peter to be tired constatly and more violent due to the lack of sleep. @@healsallwounds Well, in the 2018 movie Venom seems like he's just a silly monster who eats brains because he is hungry. Eddy did not become this evil guy that wants to kill people, and Venom was able to make a deal with Eddy to just eat the heads of bad guys, ( wich probably consists of REAL bad guys since in the second movie Venom spared that random robber but killed the serial killer at the end ) so he is probably a reasonable creature who knows morals and stuff. Maybe it's just because that version of Venom was supposed to be an anti hero rather than a complete superhero, so he needs to have some good merits going for him, but then it's not really my problem

    Great video! What makes Walrus so scary is that all of those minor property damages add up over time, each one slowly chipping away at the city budget as they are repaired. Then, when you need to go to the hospital due to being run over by some guy in a rhino suit or getting a head full of sand, your doctor just got sacked due to budget cuts. You not getting desplattered or desanded is therefore a direct result of Walrus denting thousands of cars and playgrounds. If a stray Goblin bomb goes off in your neighborhood and sets off a fire, do you want a fire department that responds quickly? Yeah, not happening. Walrus diverted funds from them and now the department is only staffed by Brad, 16, equipped with a bicycle and a bucket of water. Has the Lizard mixed into his Lizard Formula into the water supply? Would it be nice if someone would filter it out at the water plant? Well, shucks, sucks that the bad guy serum filterers were all fired. If left to his own devices, Walrus would destabilize all of New York eventually. No one would be safe. Society would crumble.
