Only hypebeasts, posers & content creators are saying or thinking the sneaker game is boring. I’ve been in the game since 88 & it’s never really been boring. Why? Well it’s simple…there’s always something dropping that catches my eye for starters. The fun of hunting a sneaker or trying to hit online for one is always a good rush. Snagging $180 air max for $50 during an insane sale is great. Most of all, putting those fresh kicks on after you’ve gotten the laces just right NEVER gets old. Especially if you’re rocking em to a cool event or great night out with a loved one. Quite simply, nothing will EVER be boring if you truly love it. I truly love beautiful sneakers. They’re like my antidepressant. I can throw on a $2 T-shirt, $5 pair of shorts & a $150 pair of fresh kicks & feel like a million dollars on my way out to live life. It’ll NEVER get boring. 🙏🏼

My guy, I'm gonna slightly have to disagree. I like wild, different and creative designs and I feel too many have been playing it safe in order to make a sale. The few off the wall releases have been absolute fire though. I'm excited they brought back Dennis Rodman's kicks in a recent collab (even though these kids don't know who he is #Pistons) and I'm looking forward to copping a pair. Other than that, there's only an handful of creative pairs to grab..... that's what makes it slightly boring

@@otrwarrior I was SUPER stoked about the Rodmans. So much so, I tried to make em my first & probably only Supreme purchase ever. Bots got em all before me tho. 😂 I do agree with you about a lot of stuff being played safe. Until the Booker “Hike” colorway dropped last month. It’d been a VERY long time since a shoe that wasn’t a true retro dropped that I HAD to have. Still nothing really on the horizon that I can’t live without honestly. Not yet anyways…

I’m absolutely loving this time. I’ve been buying so many SB’s I’ve wanted for some time for crazy prices. For example I purchased a used pair of Sean Cliver’s size 13 for $225 on goat. They were dirty but not anywhere near horrible. Whoever sold them literally just didn’t clean them. I used FZ150 and I shit you not they look brand new. I knew they were going to be a steal bc the bottoms were still almost clear and glitter looked new. $7/$800 sneaker for $225 bc someone was too lazy or spoiled to clean. I’ve must have bought 10 pairs of SB’s for 50-70% off the resale price since January no lie!!

After finally starting a career and making a little money, I got back into sneakers following a 4 year hiatus. I think I came back at a great time since the market is so low and I can generally get many silhouettes I've been eyeing for slightly above or below retail. I think its a great time to be a sneakerhead and I'm having a blast! Great points made in your video; keep it going!

Unfortunately for myself the new generation of sneaker resellers and most of the spotty faced content makers make old school collectors like myself less likely to continue collecting. Honestly, I think this is the realistic viewership for sneaker content. A lot of people got caught up in the resell hype, tried their hand but realised it’s quite an expensive ‘side hustle’ with the added reality that the hype sneaker of the time was nigh impossible to grab a win for retail! True sneaker heads will always be here for sneakers, we’re a resilient bunch!

People that have been into sneakers will forever be into them to a certain degree. Re sellers are leaving the game because there isn’t money to be made like it was back in the day. Sneakers aren’t boring, right now is the best time to buy what you like, a lot stuff is sitting. (Not everything but a good bit.) Hypebeasts and resellers brought alot of new comers into this space and I feel like a lot of them are leaving or losing interest. Which is fine. From reps to shock drops back dooring law suits and dumb trends it’s come a long way. No matter what happens I’ll keep wearing what I like and everyone should too.

People are drifting away from having every single hype nike, if you're genuinely into sneakers you'll always get a buzz from finding something you like. Doesn't help when you get someone like coolkicks trying to sell fakes off to another store then dumping on them for holding non hype sneaks, toxicity pushes people away.

The problem right now is that we are tired of the constant releases that are flooding the market with mediocre color swaps or collab designs. In terms of Nike, they’ve been releasing a new colorway almost every week of Aj#s and dunks. No real innovation of new shoes, and not enough collaborations that keep the interest in people. I also think that the decline of sneakers is simply due to the volatile nature of both retailer and reseller costs. Shoes are slowly getting more expensive retail side and resellers are simply going to ask x2-3 over that. As a whole, whenever I think about the state of the sneaker community I always think it’s fighting itself. On one hand, you have hypeheads/ resellers crying about lost profits and not moving enough pairs and on the other, you have consumers who cry over the price of shoes and people who are simply bored of recolors of classic silhouettes. But the silver lining is that I think more people are exploring different brands. I’ve been enjoying designs from New Balance, Asics / Onitsuka Tiger, Adidas / Yeezy, and even going back in time to older Nike designs that had fallen off under retail. I’ve still been keeping tabs on releases, just not too close anymore.

A lot of good thoughts here. I would say that I agree, that resale is on the downward trend and prices are falling. A lot of people that got into sneakers for resale are moving on to the next thing. These are the people that are also one dimensional, and have probably moved on to ply their "hit trend" to a new audience. With all that, sneakers are easier to get and a lot of good colorways are going on sale. But I will say, there is/was an over saturation of the market and brands pushed a lot of rinse and repeat styles on us because the market was so hot for a while. I think this has lead to a lack of interesting styles and colorways being on the market. I know the 2000s runner is on trend right now, but my issue with that style shoe is that there's too many models that all look the same. The difference between the Asics 1130, 2160, Kayano 14, and Gel NYC are negligible (I know that this could be said with any segment of the market like basketball and the Dunk, Air Ship, Jordan 1 all look the same too). It just feels like collabs aren't pushing the limits much any more and ultimately there's not too much that feels fresh and interesting going on. Maybe this is all a skewed perception based on the last few years of the over saturation I spoke of.

Sneakers r not going down but other casual wear shoes r definitely picking up, specially due to this new “old money” outfits trend. I work for a VC fund, D2C casual wear shoes market is going up at a much higher rate than the sneaker market. Sneaker market has become kinda stagnant. If it weren’t for the collab deals that Nike and Adidas do, we definitely would have seen some downfall in the sneaker market.

Sneaker collecting was a fun hobby. Then Tik Tok and the pandemic came along and blasted it into the mainstream. And once people realized you could make some good money reselling as a side hustle, everyone jumped on it. And now that the bandwagoners realized it was a trend and gotten bored of it, realizing how dumb it was to blow all that money on shoes you only wear a couple times and have to clean and maintain a lot, they’ve finally just unplugged from it.

I think the main reason a lot of people are saying that sneakers are boring are just looking at resell and hype. With that mindset the sneaker game got boring, but there is more to it. For me personal, I got overwhelmed over the past few months and Nike is in my opinion the main contributor for this. Nike released so many Jordan 1s and dunks that I can barely see anymore of them even though I own some myself and love to wear them. Maybe this is nostalgia and a false memory of the past but I feel like there were more interesting releases in the past or maybe they were just hitting more. One of my most favorite sneaker of all time is the OG Travis Scott Air Force 1. It has so many details and got so much love and is just fire. Also the Off White Nikes brought so much heat and interesting takes. In general, I feel like the sneaker game shifted drastically over the last few months. There was a time Nike and Adidas were in the spotlight and everything else was kinda trash and nowadays the tables flipped. New brands are coming up and clothing brands are brinning out great designs. Especially Asics are killing it and a year ago nobody could have imagined Asics being as hot as they are right now. Peso, a German brand, released their first sneaker a few weeks ago. It sold out instantly and was all over social media in Germany. I got one pair myself and they are dope. When it comes to sneaker content a lot got stail and many creators are just boring and don't really have a personality tbh. Ironically, I think your content is actually really interesting and videos like this are really nice and the chosen topics bring some debate in the culture. Most sneaker videos seem like copy pastes and when a sneaker comes out you have like ten reviews, what can be nice, but tbh you will just look at one review, especially if you know who got your shoe size as well. This month is everything but boring and has some serious heat and there are many interesting releases this year. Thanks for this interesting insight and topic.

I don't know how anyone can say that it's boring right now. We've got amazing releases from every brand, awesome collabs, actual availability, reasonable prices and then hype beasts have departed for the most part. It was actually more boring a couple of years back when literally every single half decent release sold out immediately and then went crazy on resale. That wasn't interesting. It's been really interesting watching some creators scratch around for the next major hyped brand or model. With Jordan's sitting, Yeezys getting pulled, it actually takes work to create content again and that's when the good folks, such as yourself, will shine.

Well i am trying to create content more abt different sneakers that nobody really payed or pays attention to its fun to do even if nobody finds it interesting from the hype trains somebody will see and be able to enjoy genuine content and not just hype i think that yes its a small crowd but its still has interest

More options than ever, only people who are saying this are the ones who were happy with following whatever everyone else was wearing. Sheep can't think for themselves and feel salty about it now that they got a closet full of jordans they don't feel cool about.

TBH all these people have to thank COVID for their channels growing so much. If it wasn't for covid half of them wouldn't have above 100k subs.

well we watch a grown man in his closet showing off his shoes lol. If we aren't bored by that then sneakers aren't boring. It is like the only way I can experience the shoes I never hit on or won't pay for. Keep it up!

Sneakers aren’t boring the people talking about them are. You and Mike Rich make looking at sneakers exciting with personality. I don’t buy as many because I have to many and I just wear my Birks😂

With your humor, you could even start talking about history and people would still watch. See it as a lot of potential for other channels if sneaker content does end up dying out. I like the current market, just that it is easier to get the shoes you want and to actually wear them out.

As usual, you continue to provoke thought with original content as it pertains to Kicks, consumerism, and culture. Your break it down, logic, mixed with comical wit Is why I continue to click on anything you put out. Other content creators should take note. Thanks for what you do Homie.

hybeasts and resellers are cetainly saying that but looking from a viewer perspective on KZread, you see the same style of video, for the same shoe by the same washed out reviewers....who usually have no interest or half ass sharing background about shoe and why they like it. That's why stopped watching those people and gravitating to people who have something interesting to teach and add to the dialogue. I do hate watch some of the big cringe reviewers just to get the sizing recommendations lol.

I feel there's a major shift. Right now i see a lot of my favorite shoetubers BEGGING for likes and normally they never begged for likes and comments like they are now. I hear people like UNBREAKABLE KICKS crying abput liles on previous vidoes, talkimg bout ...please give my last video a like.. Jay the Sneaker guy dont even hot the algorithm and im subscribed to his channel. KZread is doing weird stuff. Some Shoetubers have even switched to other content on other channels.
