Adding some info about leather: Full grain (also sometimes called aniline) leather, like is used in the Boda Skins jacket, is strong and durable because it is ACTUAL intact hide of the animal. It is beautiful and durable because it has the actual outer skin grain of the hide. Top grain leather is the same, but the outer grain surface has been smoothed or corrected by artificial means to remove the natural blemishes that make leather beautiful. It is corrected to make it look uniform for things like shoes, purses and car interiors. It is still as strong as full grain leather. When you look for leather jackets, regardless of the brand, make sure you are getting one of these two types of leather. These are the only two that will wear for decades and only become more beautiful as they age. Now for the FAKES: GENUINE leather is fake leather. To say it is still leather is bending over backwards to agree with the legal definition of leather. But it is NOT what people think of when they hear the word leather. Genuine leather is made of the inner connective tissue under the outer skin grain. It doesn't resemble leather until a plastic top layer put on which is colored and embossed to LOOK like the outer skin grain. But it is fake. These can look really natural. But over time, they will peel off revealing the suede like interior. This type of leather is weak and can tear. The last type of leather is bonded leather. It is not must scraps pieced together. Bonded leather is leather trimmings and scraps ground up into shreds and sawdust, mixed with glue, and formed into fake leather sheets. Basically skin plywood. A fake plastic grain surface is glued on just like for genuine leather. This is the type of "leather" that is used for cheap bags, jackets and especially sofas. It will tear if your dog jumps on it. Everything below full or top grain leather is cheap and not worth buying (IMHO). Full grain and top grain leathers are expensive and look and wear the best. Lastly, rain and leather are not ideal. But a high quality full grain Schott jacket that has been treated is meant to protect you during the rains and will be none the worse for wear if you just wipe it off after the storm.

@@apurvanand1665 No, suede is the inner connective tissue of the skin, not the smooth surface layer. You could technically start with high quality full grain leather, strip off the expensive and valuable surface grain to make suede, but that would be like stripping down a Mercedes so you could make sandals from the tires.

Sort of what you'd expect really, i.e. the real leather has a better fit and would improve in time in that way. The faux still looks very good though.

Excellent video. I recently bought a imitation black leather biker jacket from TK Maxx for £40 the make is Blend made in Denmark size large and it’s not a bad fit, it has 2 inside pockets and 2 side pockets plus a zip top pocket.

I like a lot H&M Jackets. Nice fit. But their Fake Leather jackets are garbage. At least the ones I have used. Their fitting is the best. But they last nothing. I had one with one use cracking on me. But, their fitting are the best. I have one Premium Leather. Nice. But heavy.

@@JoshSullivanFashion you know a real leather jacket can last you a life time especially if you know how to take care of it the oldest leather jacket is 100 years old and is in a museum. The cool thing about it is some times the museum actually lets people wear it. So tbh the 5 to year statement is only if you plan not to take care of it. Also the type of leather does make the quality of a jacket much more better. You have genuine, top grain, and full grain.

I will NEVER spend 400$ on a jacket... unless I win the lottery.

You talking about 400 bucks like it is 10k.😂 this jacket will last decades while a cheap fake leather falls apart within 2-3 years.... Do a normal job and its no problem, 400 for a premium Leather jacket is a very affordable price imho. If you buy cheap, you buying twice and thats a rule for almost everything in life remember this.
