    Don't double stack those lifting blocks! Especially if your getting under the car. I lifted mine the same way a dozen or so times thinking it was fine. Quickjack's instructions even say this is fine. I assure you it's not. The last time I lifted my car that way my car fell off the lift. The lifting and lowering motion is enough to unsettle the car and cause the blocks to slip. I was lucky I was not under the car.

    Agree but in some cases you may have to double stack clearing floor. I also had my Porsche kick out off theQuick Jack but this was 17:41 my fault. Centering the blocks is very important on the pads if not done the pressure can force the jacks out.

    Great job, I did notice you lifted with the jacks backwards. The label part is supposed to face the front of the car. That way it has better support for the heavier engine side. Also it would move your car towards front of garage instead of backwards towards door.

    Thanks for the video...mine also go down painfully slow...in fact I have to stand on them or they won't. Not sure if that's because I have the 7,000 lb tlx versions or not. One thing I noted is they don't rise at the same rate. SO may have to go back and re-bleed them until they do. I got mine a few months ago, but got discouraged by that, and the fact that the valves kept leaking the air at a rate that's higher than I would expect...even after I've tightened them and haven't gotten back to them, so had to keep giving them air. But seeing how much you had to bleed yours, I may have not bled them enough.

    I've had the 5000TL for about a year and although they are extremely useful, they are also a disappointment. For my C5 Corvette, the channels where you put the rubber blocks are too far apart and can not be used with the stock Vette mounts. I've had to create a custom set of steel mounts that are closer together (which is obviously not recommended by the manufacturer). For my Cadillac ATS-V, the channels are not long enough, so I've had to buy the Quickjack extensions. But, once you add the extensions, you also add about 2 inches of height which means they now won't fit under the car. So I've had to create wooden ramps to drive on first. My set also are very loud when rising, and are a bit of a pain to store. I would say that any prospective buyers need to do full research before investing, and maybe the two-post MaxJack is a better solution

    Yeah, I cant believe I made such a stupid mistake. I even pushed my car forward about 1 foot before lifting it up. I have some things that need to be painted on the car, this will give me a good reason to address those. Thanks for watching.

    With the engine out front and with more weight there you should spin the Quick Jack around so that the lower pivot joint is closer to the front wheel and not the way you have it in the video. Of course the car as it is lifted will move forward.

    Waiting on a set of 7000s. Of course a man has to check all the KZread’s. I know it’s been a year so maybe the garage door incident isn’t as raw. It did make me think about what some people call the “stupidity tax.” It’s always seemed to me whether I’m benefiting myself or helping someone using my tools, I have to pay that tax . Every. Single. Damn. Time! I have stopped and thought to myself when I’ve agreed to help someone out, “What’s gonna happen to me this time?” 😂

    Did you follow the proper bleeding process. If you raised it to far when there is air in the system, it wont want to go down. I had to stand on mine with the bleed valve open to move it down.

    @@JDMRightHandDrive Thanks JDM! I went out later this afternoon and drained the fluid off of the cylinder that wouldn't go down, filled the air cylinder, re filled the pump tank, and started the bleeding process over and it started working correctly!

    You can easily use this to change tires on a vehicle. As long as the vehicle lines up with the lifting points of this lift. They do make and XL version which will will work with larger vehicles as well. I use this to lift up my GTR and Subaru WRX, it works perfectly for me. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fHiA0cOiaa6pfto.html

    Yeah I cant believe that I did that. I got to excited and messed that one up. There was a stupid bracket in the middle of the door at the bottom by the floor that sticks out. This is the bracket that scratched my car. I removed that bracket a few days ago because I don't need it since I have a garage door opener. Wish I would have thought of that earlier. Did you make sure not to pump them up to high when you 1st started the bleeding process. You have to go little by little slowly working your way up. Open the bleeder all the way to get them back down if you have to. You just need to get that air to come out.

  • @sheldons231

    Why does everyone use them backwards? It is in the manual which way they should be used, I guess most people figure once it is usable, anyone can just set it up and use it. NEVER EVER DOUBLE stack those blocks, I did once and saw they hade moved slightly after lowering, so stopped doing that.

  • @dlj1285
    @dlj12854 ай бұрын

    You are running those jacks in the wrong direction. For the best safety you need to flip them around and have the hydraulic hoses feeding in from the back tire area, not the front tires. It’s in the instructions. The front of the car is heavier obviously, and they are designed to be oriented like that to carry the weight better/safer. To be clear, you still want to be going front to back, just flipped the other way.

    I have the TL and I'd say it's ok, but only if you're lucky and get one without a defective air cylinder. If you do get one of those you're screwed - the company will 100% not stand behind their product. They'll claim the air-assist down isn't "necessary to the function of the lift". Really? So if one side has air assist down and the other doesn't, and they drop unevenly, that's safe? And then when the vehicle drops to the ground and one side of the lift goes straight to the full down position while the other... doesn't. You need to wait... and wait... and wait for it to drop with no weight on it. Quickjack will claim this "is normal operation" and that "it will get better over time". If you invest a massive amount of time trying to get them to stand behind their product they will, eventually, after burning through every once of customer goodwill, send out a new cylinder. Yay! Until you get the replacement and the freakin' air side is literally capped off. Like intentionally made unusable. That's not a fix guys. Then they'll claim that the engineers decided the down-assist wasn't necessary and that they've changed the design on future models. But I didn't buy a future model with less functionality. I bought the current model with exactly the functionality I wanted, was promised, and paid for. Whatever. Too much time wasted on it already - I've written off the entire company as another skanky marketing hack with no integrity. I still have it in my shop, but the company worked very hard to make me regret my purchase and it low-key pisses me off every time I look at it. And honestly the setup is inconvenient enough that even when I do pull it out - warts and all - it happens very rarely. Only when I have a longer term project where I know the vehicle will be on the lift for a week or two. Definitely not for things like oil or tire changes. It's just way quicker to use a floor jack, or even ramps.
