I doubt if any brand new violin will sound as good as one that’s been played a lot.

Bows can really change the sound of a violin. I have a few bows and they all give a different sound. Also different weights and balance points. Good for different things. Are you going to be playing this new violin some? Like to take places, instead of your older one? If so, some Evah Golds might sound really nice on it 😉

Fab video, thank you! I listened to it without looking at the screen to see if I could tell the difference. Your violin is very warm and throaty and the new violin is bright. Both sound nice, but I prefer your violin.... I enjoyed listening to you play both, lovely accompaniment and lovely cheerleading from the babies! Thank you for putting the time and effort into making interesting content Zlata.

Glad you finally reviewed Kennedy violins. I requested a review from you years ago. After I bought a Antonio Gulliani violin from Kennedy violins in 2018 and have had a great violin and experience from Kennedy violins

The new violin sounds very nice, especially for the price. Compared to your old violin though, it sounds a little tight and flat. Your old violin has a broader, livelier, more open sound, with lovely overtones, which I prefer. Your Arcus bow makes the new violin sound slightly better. Did you have the same type of strings on both instruments for this comparison?

Thanks for sharing! Actually the new violin has Prelude strings and my violin Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold strings that are old. I might make some sound samples with the same strings on both or at least try the new violin with the Golds.

I think it doesn't matter that violin is old or new. The sound of pieces matter by Violin player, How the violinist use the bow pressure, using the dynamics and more. But as the comparison of the sound old and new violin, i would go to the old violin.

Are the strings thé same on thé two violins!

Prelude strings didn't sound good on my violin but all the other brands I have used have been good.

when playing an older violin from the 1800's would you think using a baroque bow with it is a good idea or not? At least for older classical scores?

Well, when this violin was made, the Tourte model bow was already in use and the violin isn't built or set up as a baroque violin, so for me personally it doesn't make much sense, but I know there are lots of heated discussion about this, haha, so do whatever feels right for you.
