I have these exact boots. I'm usually a size 9 in American Dutchess shoes. I had to get a ten and a half!

Your video is indeed very useful! Not easy ordering shoes online and I never got this brand. I love these vintage styles! Hope your toes got used to them. Rounded shapes are more comfortable. When pointed, I best get a size up and in case of a little extra room, put some nice vintage woollen socks. By the way, love your skirt!

You’re welcome! The Finnish history is unique as we have always been here between the East and the West. For centuries the area was just fought over by Sweden and Russia and the poor Finns were just trying to survive. In WWII our enemy was Russia and we were forced to choose between losing our country or asking help from the nazi Germany. We’ve got so used to being prepared that we are now a bit confused when foreign media comes to make news on our army and our bunker system. Yeah, we have our own (modern) bunker and that’s just the way things are. And my hubby has done the military service like most men. Just in case…

it might be worth looking for a boot maker to make shoes / boots to measure. I did this years ago from Anello and Davide the Theatrical shoemakers in London because I could not find what I wanted ready made. Cost was less than shoes from a 'normal' shop. We often asume quality has to be bought from exotic sources overseas. Crafts people at reenactment events produce shoes from all ages too.

If I wore shoes (I don’t unless it’s absolutely necessary!), and if I had normal shaped feet, and could afford them, I’d buy a pair of those! But my feet are like triangles! Much wider across the ends of the toes than you would expect from the rest of them, and there’s no way they’d fit in those lovely buttoned boots!

I have a similar experience. I'm breaking in the Tavistock boots right now, and I have wide feet. I ordered the shoe stretch spray AD had on their website and I think it's helping. Without taking the shoes to a shop I've been able to stretch them a bit. Normally I avoid pointed toes for this reason but I know leather can stretch a great deal and they're already not too bad so I think they'll be comfortable after a while.

Is there any way to stretch the top? I currently have a pair of super expensive decorations because I was stupid enough to believe their marketing advice about moving buttons to fit fat calves - it doesn't work because the sides are shaped - moving the buttons causes the boots to flop on one side. If you have fat feet/ calves, don't buy the boots!

It would be fun to make a pair out if modern shoes with cardboard?

I'm thinking of buying a pair of Londoners from American Duchess for a very long time now, but confused with the sizing table on their website. 😐 Which EU size do you usually wear and what US size did you buy? BTW, it's interesting to see historical trenches. In Kaunas (Lithuania) we also have similar stuff built by Russians before WW1 broke out. Now what is left is fortress ring surrounding my town, administrative buildings, bunkers, gunpowder storages, some original road segments. Mostly it's abandoned and not taken care.

I usually wear the size 38 and my shoes fit very closely. My feet are not the narrowest, though. If you ever wear Clarks or Gabor, those shoes fit me perfectly in size 38. I bet that your trenches in Lithuania are pretty identical to these ones we have. They are falling apart as well and most metals in them was taken during WWII to be repurposed. Still, they are a part of history and I like that the presense of them keeps the forest from being developed.

Could you tell us what size you ordered in the US size please? I have American success shoes in 2 different styles and 2 different sizes, trying to work out my perfect size. Loved a along through the forest with you
