What you said makes no sense in a way that : 1) There should not necessarely be a single clear definition of what we call arab or not. There may be different definitions . For example there are some well known English dictionaries that defines arabs as arabic speakers. 2) The naming is not necessarely based on a specific identity, and the identities can vary depending on what do we mean by it, wether personal or not. 3) There is no dna that has naturally "arab" nor "berber" written in it. They are all just nouns created by human beings. 4) The definition of origin of people or the origin of anything philosophically makes no sense, because every origin has an origin, it only depends on from when we started. 5) The history is never a 100% true science in a way that we weren't alive hundreds or thousands of years ago to check the validity of what is said. And last but not least : You can call yourself whatever you want, and don't be mad wether others call you by a name that you don't like, if it is not an insult, it is fine, everyone has his own opinion, and it is not a way to oppress your believed identity, as if your identity is weak and can easily be gone by other people's opinions. Call yourself whatever you want, and call others without bad intention whatever you want, and just in discussions set the definition you gave and based on what, wether it is personal or not personal, variable or constant, and consider the varieties of the definitions that can be, and when talking about history set the ressources you know, and don't assume that only one possible answer is true although it might be acceptable by most of scientists.

my family is the exact proof that you're wrong. the village of beni boufrah is the nearest village to cala iris. everybody in the rif speaks rifi and are descendents of amazigh tribes. My ancestor was not, him and his descendents were all arabs, yet neighbours with the amazighs. Never had problems with them, always formed one big family. Some of us can speak amazigh, but all of us speak arabic (darija) how can we not be moroccan then? :)

I'm from North moroccan region we do not speak any arabic dialect here, our daily life language is riffian amazigh. Morocco has more than 5 native AMAZIGH spoken dialect. Morocco is a north african AMAZIGH country. 90% of its culture is AMAZIGH NorthAfrican/mediterranean.

Around 15 million Moroccans speak the Amazigh language, with the backing of King Mohammad VI, who has Amazigh roots and is part Amazigh the ancient Tifinagh alphabet has been revitalized as a national language, now taught in numerous schools. Amazigh-speaking groups do not consider themselves Arab, though. What I noticed is that Moroccans do not differentiate between ethnicity and language. So when Amazigh-speaking parents do not teach their kid the Amazigh language and let him learn Arabic, he is instantly perceived as an Arab, and even he himself starts considering himself an Arab merely because he does not speak Amazigh, despite his origins whatsoever. And this has happened a lot during the past 30-50 years, especially in large urban cities."

Morocco consists of berber and arabised berbers. according to science , 97% of Moroccans have the amazigh gene, their DNA is different from that of arabs. but around half of them speak Arabic. some speak berber only and some speak both, it depends on the upbringing and how their elders are attached to their origins. Arabisation started when arabs conquered morocco and continues now a days through the educational system in morocco.

Our Berber history is so beautiful, with many fierce warriors who stands for freedon and who defended us from Arabic invasion. You can look up the warrior queen Dihya. These people fought for their lives for our survival from the Arabs, yet we deny their existence. The Tifinagh Amazigh language is one of the oldest languages on Earth, dating back to at least 13,500 BCE in prehistory. Yet, after Morocco's Arabization, many people forgot their roots and simply say they are Arabs because of Islam. There is a reason why Middle Easterners can't understand our dialect (Darija), which is a mix of Amazigh and Arabic. And there is a reason we are here and not in the Middle East; we are not Arabs. This applies to Algerians and Tunisians as well.

I’m Afghan and I don’t consider them Arabs

North Africans are West Asians, South Europeans, Not necessarily Arab. They came from Eurasia 22,000 years ago and created their own genepool. Not to mention North Africa has been invaded A LOT of times which may contributed to them looking very pale or very dark.

They don’t speak the real Arabic language they speak their own local languages it’s just because their local language is now thanks to their movies series and singers ..etc that they believed in the illusion that they speak Arabic . I live in the USA and I’ve met a lot of Egyptians / middle easterners who get shocked when I ask them to speak the real Arabic first they start with one sentence then they will find themselves speaking their local language. As a moroccan I always challenge them this way and I always win because We moroccan when we want to speak real Arabic we can easily unlike most of them.

Not sure what she experienced but here is thing: No one north of the Arabian peninsular and no one in North Africa is ethnically an Arab. I am not one of those embittered Maghrebi diasporans who h_te the guts of Arabs after learning the pan-arab ideology their parents tought them is a lie. None of us are genetically related to Khalejis. I am a Moroccan and although I have Rifian heritage, I don't have a specific tribal belonging since I never grew up in that environment. Although I am aware of my heritage, I can't culturally identify myself being a Rifian. Hence why I stick with being simply Moroccan. There is a term "Arabized Berber", which is a fitting term to describe modern day Maghrebis, including Moroccans. Me personally when it comes to my identity I can't identify myself as an Arab, either. I don't feel it. Also, sorry to burst your bubble but lots and lots Arab speaking (muslim) individuals outside the Arabian peninsular excluding Yemen have their own unique, ethnic ancestry. But because of islaminization and cultural, religous ties to muslim empires cultural aspects are slowly disappearing. Even I as a Moroccan know that our culture is still different from the Khalejis. You do you girl but it's important to mention that Moroccans slowly learn they are being lied to with the pan-arab nonsense. Just saying. If you want to follow islam, fine. But knowingly denying your actual ethnic heritage and history is a problem and sooner or later even Indonesians will identify themselves as Arabs. If the light skin isn't due to recent intermarriage, then she may be from an ancient Berber bloodline. That is a rare and wondrous heritage.

ancient berber bloodline is scientifically called haplogroup and berber haplogroup is E1b1 and its same haplogroup root of subsaharan blacks as it belong to the E haplogroup .. she is light skin because shes mixed with iberian or arab but you can still see the blackness in her

For example, R1B is the most common in western European whites, but there's also some R1B in North Cameroon, but they're still black as dirt, and they can't be distinguished from their non-R1B neighbors. And Halpogroup E1b1b is also common in Albanians, Jews, and some other European populations. Does this make them black Western Africans? Obviosly not. The earliest known North Africans are the Iberomaurisians, and they were native North Africans; they were a mix of western Asians and a non-black North African native population; then the Anatolian farmers came in thousands of years ago; and then the Indo-Europeans. This means that white skin has been in North Africa since the dawn of humanity. And it didn't come with Arabs or Spaniards, as you claimed. Genetically-wise, North Africans are way, way closer to Europeans and Middle Easterners than to any Western African. I hate this stupid genetic ignorance. And what blackness does she have? I'm Moroccan. I'm not Arab . I'm African .

Not all Moroccans are Arab and not all are amazigh...my mom is amazigh and her family call me Arab, my father side is Arab and they call me Arab, even if you're mixed you're gonna be your dad's ethnicity in Morocco, so none is 100% Arab or amazigh but we still separate between the ethnicities because they have beauty in different way and we don't want to forget out roots! But in general we are Arab like the rest of the Arabs!

I would assume Amazigh people are originally from Europe? Quite a few of them have red hair from what I have seen. Some also look like Ethiopians. I assume those groups, although they are both Amazigh, are not really related genetically?

Not true at all, dna studies shows us that 95% of the Moroccans have North African dna, so they are berbers. Speaking a language doesnt make you an Arab. imagine a Congolese claim to be french because he speak French

A lot of Moroccans have Spanish blood in them as well because during and after the Reconquista many Muslims emigrated or *after the fall of Al Andalus* expelled from Spain to Morocco. So many Moroccans have a lot of mixed ethnicities within them such as Arab, Berber, west African and Spanish mashallah 😁

Your Arab side are 100% Arabized Amazigh. All the Moroccans who (wrongly) believe they are of Arabic origin are in fact Amazigh tribes whose ancestors abandoned their original Tamazight language and adopted Arabic because one female ancestor married an Arab man. So no, your Arab father side depending on which tribe you're from is actually Amazigh.

Darija is not arabic.Its completely different words. It's like calling English German because there are words derived from German and similar words

You speak of a very small percentage. Most Moroccans are from Amazigh descent, we are linguastically and culturally arab that's it. Many amazigh don't even have Amazigh culture and only use Arab cultures, yet they aren't arab. Please give me a clear definition of Arab. Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Mauritania, Somalia, Syria... and now they constitute an important percentage of those nations? good. How many tribes were there in the Arabian Peninsula?
