    I'm a typical twenty South Korean guy who living in Seoul. I tell you the truth, most Asian girlfriends/wives who has South Korean boyfriends/husbands are mail-order brides from China and Central or Southeast Asia except for Japanese girlfriends/wives. So We have socially negative prejudices about having non-Korean Asian girlfriends or wives.. So, if you are a Western chick, you can be free from this negative prejudice. And now it's 2019. None of South Koreans bothers you whether you are French, American, Russian, South African or even Mexican.🐻

  • @JQMurrell

    @JQMurrell

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@maya_jones3411 oh, that's true. Think of all the political marriages that happened in feudal or Medieval Times.. and even up into modern times in some countries, that were intentioned to keep peace between countries. To add to that, while I studied International Studies at University for my major, including the history of racism and racial stereotypes in the United States against black and Asian Americans, I had the opportunity to do a brief study on International /Intercultural marriages within the United States. Statistically, those who enter into and international or Intercultural marriage will have to focus much more in their relationship on communication to overcome language boundaries and cultural differences. They typically will have a much greater level of Tolerance and understanding between one another for this reason. These couples spend more time figuring out how to do peaceful conflict resolution due to the differences, and because in Asian cultures divorce is not highly accepted, and there are still stereotypes and stigmas against it, the focus is on keeping the family unit together and operating cohesively. Keeping a family together peacefully and functionally is also considered by Asian men to be a mark of masculinity. It's kind of a masculine pride thing to be able to lead your family harmoniously and successfully. Also statistically, based on Pew research, international couples who are married in the United States between an Asian person and a white person have the highest income and highest educational background of all newlywed couples in the United States. They may get married a little bit later in their life, but they are much more prepared for that Union in regards to having stable careers, income stream, and educational background to support them. This may also contribute to reasons why these International couples focus more on communication and peaceful conflict resolution. Having a greater educational background would certainly contribute to this. As an example, my boyfriend of 4 years is from South Korea. Both of my parents are very highly educated in their fields with a psych doctor's degree, and a Masters and two Specialty degrees in education,.. so it is in my background to understand about conflict resolution, and emphasis on the importance of positive communication and coping strategies for stress. In my relationship with my boyfriend there have been many times we have had to deal with cultural differences or times of potential conflict where things could have blown up to be much worse, but because we have worked very hard on how we communicate and express ourselves positively toward one another in order to support one another, it has not turned into a negative. We have both worked very hard on understanding one another, where we are coming from when we think a certain way or do something, that perhaps culturally might not be the norm for the other person. It's been a very interesting experience LOL and we are still dating, but based on previous long term relationships I have had, this relationship has caused me to focus much more on communication, conflict resolution , and fostering understanding, than any other I have been in. When I was married to a white guy for 9 years, it was easy to assume we understood each other and could read each other's minds because we came from the same cultural background and assumed we had the same expectations. Even though that was not the case as far as same expectations all the time, those things were not communicated because there was no reason to specifically emphasize it in the relationship. But when you naturally have many differences like in international relationships, you're really forced to focus on those differences and figure out how you bridge them, understand them, Or cope with them.

    Can communicate well ? If you don't speak a little bit of korean, they won't consider marriage. The problem is that korean guys think that the girl should learn their language, but they won't learn yours. Also korean boys are very gentleman until marriage, almost all my korean friends (girls) are saying that after marriage, they change and they act as if he's your parent by telling you to cook (like a slave), stay at home, what to wear... Maybe some of them are not like that but mostly of them do. Sad.

    daisy liqiu // communicate well meaning both individuals are fully fluent in Korean or English or at least know enough Korean or English to understand each other! I believe in a past video, one of them were saying the girl understood Korean but could not speak it well and vice versa for her boyfriend who could only understand English rather than speak it but they could still understand each other! It isn’t the most ideal situation, but in time they may become more fluent with opposing languages! // it’s unfortunate however to hear that they begin to treat their wives in that manner once they become married :( a lot but not all of men over the world have that mentality so I try not to generalize it to just Korean men!

  • @celinec.1582

    baz360turn Not everyone can speak english (fluently or not), I mean i'm vietnamese-french myself. If my boyfriend was from another country then I hope that he will do the same effort as I am to learn his language, vice-versa. In Korea, mostly I see guys who thinks that girls must learn their language or english. That's just unfair.

    daisy liqiu // I can see where you are coming from but I guess I believe that if you are serious about someone you want to love, marry, and spend the rest of your life with than learning another language is only a small barrier! If it was meant to be a casual hookup scenario then that would be different because you barely know the person. Another reason why I can see where they are coming from is that, it is their country! If we are coming to live in their hometown and are expected to fit into society, communicate with their family in the future, and mostly likely get work if you live there together, you’ll need to know Korean to get by! It’s very similar to how a lot of Americans expect foreigners to speak English when they come to America or at least learn it in the future! I don’t want to come off as combative, just hoping you see my side of view and perspective! At the end of the day, it is only my opinion and you are allowed to have yours! I hope you can agree on that at least! :)

There’s people who fetishize about being with Asian women because they are thought to be submissive and do anything for their husbands. And with the men women fetishize them because of KPOP, I’ve seen and heard plenty of people say they only like Korean men because of Kpop artists. Don't take this the wrong way at all, I'm not fetishizing Korean men. However, I would like to date someone from South Korea. I'm not saying that because I'm into Kpop, but because I love Korean culture as a whole. I do tons of reading on everything about South Korea, and I am studying their language and history as well. Kpop and kdramas are fun for me, but I've really come to appreciate so many aspects of South Korea. The nation has flaws like any other country or society, but there are aspects that I truly find fascinating. Not a lot of people who are around me are interested in it and don't like it when I talk about it, so I would be interested to live in South Korea someday to be able to talk about it more freely with people, and to find guys to date who would understand what I'm talking about and not get annoyed with me wanting to have discussions about certain things to do with either history or politics or culture in South Korea. So far in my experience I've only come across one other guy who wasn't Korean who enjoyed talking about it with me due to his own interest in the culture as well and I was attracted to him, but he already had a girlfriend so I wasn't going to try and pursue anything with him. Lol I find Kpop stars super hot, but to be honest I'm not attracted to guys like that in terms of relationships. So for me it doesn't have anything to do with fetishes, and a lot to do with interests. If I find a guy who doesn't mind talking about Korean culture who isn't Korean, then I would be down to date him too.

    This is what I do not understand about some woman of color, why do you care if a group of men does not want to date a black woman .i have seen lots of videos with that kind of thing, and it does not bother me at all, because I, would not give them the time of day either. Some black woman needs to stop acting so desperate and start loving yourselves .stop, allowing the system to continue my you see your self for less than what you are. Self-Love and self-care is the most important thing,once you start taking care of you and build your self-esteem you will see the world for what it is ,the rest of the world has pre-judge us as bad, stupid and ugly and it is because we let them by looking for acceptance from them when we should not.

His mom is always asking how I have been and she is always recommending kdramas to me (bc she knows I love kdramas). These days international relationships are more common and I love it! The same is with foreigners. 😊( I am thinking seriously to try moving to Korea soon all by my self🤭🤭).😍😍 2 wedding ceremonies sound the best solution, at least just to enjoy the traditions from both countries. 😉 About where to live after,🤔hmm...can't be said until you are not in the exact situation. It depends on many factors but for sure it will be a solution. If love,respect and understanding exist, solutions are easy to find. In conclusion, mixed marriage should not be an issue, important is to have a happy life together. 😊

Americans are "this" and "that", when it comes to many things, most remarkably looks, despite the fact that America is the country of immigrants from all over the world, and therefore very diverse in all respects. I wonder what an "American body type" is. Currently 70 % of American women are either overweight or obese, and another 10 % is extremely obese (according to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 2013-14). The most dire predictions say 85 % of Americans will be overweight or obese by 2030. Is that what the guy in the video means when he talks about the American body type?

    As someone who is currently in an international relationship, it is not easy!! My boyfriend and I met when he came to the US for school but recently had to go back to Korea. It is not easy but it is so worth it. We communicate when we can and really work on fulfilling each others needs. I will be going to Korea this summer unless the cronoavirus gets worse. For anyone else in an international relationship, keep fighting!!

    Love hearing these guys opinions. The younger generation is changing quickly. The parents and grandparents could always cause an issue if they don't understand, but I love seeing things change.
