    I dont agree, if you dont get injured deadlifting in the gym you will get injured being weak carrying weights outside of the gym. We are humans, we can get injured

  • @lizamaj

    @lizamaj

    @@masterchief4868 I think it's more nuanced than that. The comment was saying "Don't compete." You can still train your deadlift for overall strength, but without training to compete. The competition aspect is where the injuries are most likely to occur, pushing the body to unnatural limits and expectations.

    @@lizamaj the problem is that your term "unnatural" is so vague and extremely hard to define. We do not know the limits of our so called "nature", until we break through it.

    I completely agree with injury being an inevitability If you're going to put your body through these stresses you need to look after it, join health should be top priority along with recovery These are things so easily achieved through a good diet: lots of veg for the vitamins, oily fish for the omega fats ect all help with this I squat triple my bodyweight with no issues and I would put this down to my body health being a high priority Also love the channel and love the vids

    Bryce, you are without a doubt my favorite lifter on KZread, I am so grateful. What you said about coming to a point where lifting more weight could become more unhealthy than healthy. I do not plan to compete nor specify into powerlifting but I do want to be quite strong. A 400 lbs squat would not be bad at all and at this point I am not that far off, however in other movements I might be. I know you said that a 400 LBS squat was an arbitrary number but what do you think would be the weight for the other lifts such as OH Press, DL and Bench? Once again Bryce, thank you.

    Hey Bryce (cool last name, Polish origins?) I discovered your channel not too long ago and with your guidance made the leap - switched to sumo deadlift today. I only lost 20 kilos from my best conventional (no big deal as I'm not a powerlifter, I train for general strength and health, but I focus on the same lifts for the most part) and the lift immediately felt right. Much better than conventional for my leverages, I think. Your tips and cues made getting into position a breeze. Thanks and keep up the good work!

    Based on my case - it's great for people with long torsos compared to legs, so I guess... the opposite? :D Greg Nuckols actually thinks it depends more on your hip structure, so maybe he's right.

    well, i guess it's just the best for everyone haha I have super long femurs compared to my torso so it's hard to find somewhere to put my legs on conventionsl deads, and my back isn't as upright as I'd like. According to my sumo video, switching to sumo fixed both those issues yesterday.

    yo Bryce, if you have problems with hip mobility would a closer stance benefit in terms of not needing that much external rotation in the Hip Joint and could the wide squat stance you are using be correlated to your hip issues? Im am using a very wide Squat stance too because i have very long legs and very limited ankle dorsiflexion and I feel my hip limiting me in terms of discomfort because i have to rotate them out so much more. Congrats to the performance at nationals! Looking forward to worlds and seeing you crushing the 400+kg Deadlift! Bets regards from Germany! Tim

    You're lucky. I've been active in sport since I was little. I've had 4 knee surgeries from it. One kinda major(right knee meniscus, MCL, microfracture) one minor(destroyed left meniscus) and 1 cleanout of cartilage and other crap in each knee. The minor one should have torn my ACL if not for my leg strength according to my orthopedic surgeon based on how I described what caused the injury. Just totally destroyed my meniscus. Nothing left to fix even. Just clean up what was left. I guess I just got lucky. I was going martial arts with a guy and just put my foot down wrong and my knee bent in a bad direction with all 250 lbs of me pushing it. You fight through it and keep going. But as Brian Alsrhue said about playing pickup ball with friends every weekend. Eventually you're going to roll an ankle. It just happens. Injury is a part of the game unfortunately. And Alan Thrall said that not training has its own set of consequences.
