Question: didn't she watch the original documentary where Stoffel made some mud balls, stacked them up on the corner of his enclosure, and climbed them to escape? The test they did here is pretty lame by comparison.

Well that documentary is obvious proof. Science cares when that same ability can be put to use in a controlled enviornment and not just be a fluke. Hence the food on air challenge. its something uniquely new to them and thus requires true innovative thought. Means that brain is thinking and imagining what to do. Also note that Stoffel escapes for the love of it. He never really actaully escapes the zoo. Its kinda obvious he's screwing around with his caretakers. They put a new obstacle and Stoffel is having a blast solving it. He escapes he gets caught they throw a new obstacle he finds a way.

Yeah, Stoffel proved that stoffel could do it. However it's hardly prove for what the species in general is capable of. Also it has been part of an iterative process, a new solution to a slightly tweaked known problem. Intelligence also needs to be tested by confronting specimens with entirely new issues, so experience doesn't factor into it.

Their camouflage is my favourite. I often felt that the humans I was most likely to miss in traffic were those who had a sharp line and contrast indicating that they were two slabs of concrete. Or the differienting line between the house and the cellar. So mainly camouflage should not necessarily try and blend in. It should just look like something else than it is.

I have a ferret that pushes things against the barrier to their playroom to climb out. He also saw how the cat takes a running start to jump out so he now does that too. He learns and is always scheming.

I mean they listen to and created a mutual co-existence with the honey bird. the bird leads the badger to the nest, badger does the work and bird gets a food reward. it has to figure out how to reach a nest inside or hanging off things.

To be fair that's true for almost every animal in the wild that aren't swimming in all the food they could ever need. Which almost never happens because of nature's balance where access to food means that the population will grow until there's just enough food to support that populations needs unless they're ineffective at breeding or just ineffective at successfully surviving in general so their numbers decline faster than they replenish. Some might not seem like it because of how they evolved to survive like reptiles that just stop moving to preserve energy for as long as possible but nevertheless waiting for the next meal to show up.
