are food rules made to be broken? - SWEET NOTHINGS PODCAST EP 26

Welcome to the twenty-sixth episode of the Sweet Nothings podcast! Today we're talking about snow cream, chocolate cereal, and Rod Stewart's whisky. We're also delving into whether or not it's ever ok to break precious rules in the kitchen.
In case we haven't met, my name is Kelly. I write about food and other lovely things at maverickbaking.com and make foodie videos at Maverick Baking on KZread.
This is your home of relaxed, funny, and informative chats about the love of eating. We’ll talk about the latest food trends, controversial opinions, and all things edible.

In my culture we have something sweet before our meals. Like a fruit or light sweet treat.

Hello Kelly when my son was younger he liked dipping little pieces of rotisserie chicken into his yogurt. It lasted a couple of months or so. I didn't object because I believe food is something that kids need to experiment, in terms of taste of course, but also texture, color, smell.

That’s actually not so bad if it was a plain yoghurt - as people often using yoghurt dressings. Now if it was strawberry yoghurt then we might need to reconsider 😂

True. It would be interesting to know if there's a food that you absolutely liked as a young girl, but that later in life you stopped eating because maybe you've eaten too much of it. Or on the other hand, a food that you hated in the past but that you like today. Almost everyone has at least one personal food like that.

Definitely! I've coincidentally even planned "popular foods that we personally hate" as the topic for next month haha! I don't really have any foods I've over-eaten to the point of not liking it any more. However I have many that I didn't use to like but now do, such as beer, blue cheese, and dark chocolate!

@@MaverickBaking Very interesting then! I over-ate Nutella as a child to the point I cannot eat it anymore. I was used to put it even in the fridge (ad it gets very tough and it changes also it flavor!😄). I like dark chocolate today too, while I was used to eat milk chocolate or gianduia only as a young boy. I hate cabbages and Brussel sprouts as a kid while today I love them (I think they are among those those foods that perfectly match with balsamic vinegar, for example). Same for Gorgonzola cheese (that I love so much today).

I'm definitely pro using anything in the kitchen or any technique that makes things faster and easier. Also I'm pro pineapple on pizza, I know, Italians would hate me.
