In my first playthrough (Warrior) I took the Ser Berne quest as soon as I got to Gran Soren and kinda forgot about it. Ser Berne stayed in my party for awhile and was actually a useful companion until I ended up at the Shadow Fort and he finally left.

In your New Game Plus, in case you want to escort Ser Berne again, you must give him quill often just to open up his escort quest. Normally if you leave Ser Berne alone for a while his affinity drops which means you don't have an escort quest. Julien's office has a quill in his office desk.

Once I discovered that escorted companions could be healed with Anodyne, escort quests became a doddle. Thanks as always for the video Dugarr!

Reynard is guaranteed to ask for a escort quest right after Mercedes had taken the arisen to Gran Soren. Reynard on the other hand can ask for an escort quest dead or alive. That is one of the glitches. Like for example, lets suppose a player forgot to do a sidequest of saving Reynard from the goblins, Reynard will still ask for an escort quest even if it is too late to do that sidequest. Even if it is too late to start the Search Party quest, Reynard's escort can still be active. Here is a good tip for anyone who started from level 1. Ophis and her troops do make an exception. It is ok for an escort partner to be male. Ophis only attacks male arisen and/or male pawns but never the male escort partner. I remember when I started from level 1, I wanted to escort Reynard and trying to get lesser enemy encounter on my way, I entered Ophis' castle because anyone who started from level 1, there is no port crystals yet. None of them attacked since my arisen and all 3 of the pawns were females. Ophis and her troops does give free passes to male escorts. So anyone who started from level 1 and supposed they want to safely escort Reynard, entering Ophis castle is the only way because the front gate would be closed and the only way is enter the backdoor where the female bandits are watching.

I remember the 1st time I had to go to the Shadow Fort. After that long and painful journey as I was underleveled for the Chimera and the Drake almost saw me... I didn't waste any time putting down a crystal there. Little did I know I would be visiting there multiple times for more escorts. I mainly put it down as there was no way if I had to come back near that side of the map that I would ever slowly walk there again.

If you just started the game and wanted to go around it without getting spotted by Drake, you have to already clear the Ancient Querry for Alon. You will realize Alon is right. That one would be a shortcut. Once you come out of that Ancient Querry, you can then walk your escort partner through the Ancient Querry and head to the location near Shadow Fort door. So if you need to go to Shadow Fort for an escort quest and have no port crystals, go through that Ancient Querry so that you avoid a Chimera and you avoid the Drake. So lets say you have no port crystals and you wanted to escort Chief Adaro. Make sure to warp him to Gran Soren first. Only place where port crystals work after starting from level 1 is you will have port crystals only in Gran Soren Then you go to the Ancient Querry assuming you had previously cleared the Ancient Querry for Alon. Then you have a safer way to go to Shadow Fort and so all those goblins you fight can be decent for you to level up.

Escorting Maximillian would be good for anyone who started the game from level 1. Here is the reason. Maximillian will automatically asks for an escort quest right after Reward and Responsibility. So if the arisen is ready to start the Deny Salvation quest, Maximillian's escort location is just right there at Greatwall where Deny Salvation is at. So anyone can take Maximillian there for experience points at Greatwall and do Deny Salvation immediately.

only after u placed your portcrystals in ng+ and beyond theres only a few escort missions that net nice reward like keen dragons wit staff most is just romance affinity

I like the way they are set up, you can skip them, miss them, use port crystals, use them to get items/weapons and even fit some of them into the story. If I haven't been to bloodwater beach or the great wall I always use a escort quest as an excuse, if I do the shadow fort mission I take ser Berne or Mercedes, I always bring Quina to the prayer falls. Because of this variety I like them.

Bloodwater Beach is an optional location but as for Great Wall, you will have to eventually go to the Great Wall because it will be part of a main quest. As soon as The Duke assigns a job to go after the Salvation, you will go to The Great Wall. When you fight the main dragon Grigori, you will have to make it pass the Great Wall. When you slay the dragon, your arisen is eventually going to get married and that kissing scene is going to take place in The Great Wall. So if you do plan to go to Great Wall, you will have a good excuse to bring Maximillian with you the same way you will have an excuse to bring Mercedes or Ser Berne with you to Shadow Fort knowing that their escort quest takes place right in front of that location. As for Bloodwater Beach, you got to make sure you currently take your mind off of other quests for a moment because Bloodwater Beach is for escort quest only. As soon as you started the wyrmhunt quest, Barnaby is going to want to go to Bloodwater Beach. There will be numbers of people waiting in line for your escort quest. Like for example, if Mercedes is asking for an escort quest to go to Shadow Fort, Barnaby is also going to be waiting in line waiting for your arisen to take him to Bloodwater Beach. When you have a chance to open up Mercedes' escort quest, you also have a chance to open up Barnaby's escort quest.

Sir Berne and Mercedes ones are a must! Griffic Victory is a nice looking greatsword, also Clarus escort quest too is interesting Don't forget Arisens, set Portcrystals to escort final locations, it's a bless!

I did them all once before, thinking I would get an best/OP item (aside from quest reward) or an achievement but I got nothing. Never again.

Escorting partners is technically for you to gain items along with experience points. I mean escort partners do tend to give the arisen something in return for escorting them. Some of the items may not be useful but it just depends who you escort.

Quina will give you 5,000 Gold, 3,000 Exp., Panacea x5 for escorting her. So you aren't going to escort Quina for the Blessed Flower. What you do is start Talent in Bloom sidequest and then you get that Blessed Flower. Blessed Flower items do not require you to escort Quina. Once Quina gives you the Blessed Flower, she expected you to go to either 1 of the father priest from either Gran Soren or Cassardis and Quina is not expected to travel with you.

There is no need for that video because you actually get to place port crystals anywhere you like just as long as you are outside. I mean what if it were a spot you don't like. What if that spot were not your taste? Other people would of watched that video and say I don't like that spot. There is no rules set in stones on where you place port crystals because you get to choose where you want it. Where you place your port crystals is never written in stone. Even when you look at 0:45, it also does not exactly mean you have to place port crystals in your escort destination.

don't forget the gold idol from escorting symone!

@@dugarrYT The type of people who asks for a escort quest in post games are Fournival and Symone. The Frescobaldi families are known to want to see the outside world right after Grigori is dead. Like for example, Fournival would want to be escorted to the beach in post game and Symone wants to be escorted near Dragonforge's lair after in post game. Fournival and Symone's have this strange rule where they don't have an escort quest until Grigori is dead.

@@dugarrYT Don't you mean you would kill Cyclops for the Silver Idol? If you do Put the Eye Out on the notice board quest, you will only kill Cyclops for the Silver Idol. A real hydra will only be under the Shadow Fort right after Grigori is dead.

Alita will also be the best choice for escort even for players that started from level 1. Even if that player is in New Game Plus, the arisen still have to escort Alita without Ferry Stone regardless because port crystals do not activate until Mercedes had brought the arisen to Gran Soren once which means if Mercedes do not bring the arisen to Gran Soren, the arisen cannot use a ferry stone regardless. Besides Mercedes did say which I quote. I'll welcome any help, be it pawn, Arisen, farmer or fishwife." Alita does go fishing with her father Elvar at Cassardis which meant Alita classifies as a fisherwoman in Cassardis. BTW Alita is 14 years old. But still when meeting up with Mercedes, Mercedes is not going to care if the arisen's partner is a fighter or a non-fighter. Mercedes will keep her promise to accept help even if that partner is going to be a non-fighter and being 14 years old child. Mercedes did after all say it should not matter if it is a pawn, arisen, farmer or any townspeople from Cassardis. So if the arisen decides to bring a escort partner who does not fight, Mercedes still will say open up the gate. Mercedes still gives the arisen permission to bring a non-fighter into the dangerous mission of transporting a Hydra head mission. If a player started from level 1 and needed to escort that fishing girl from Cassardis, the player can depend on their pawns as well as Mercedes and her men to help fight as a team. If the goblins and harpy cannot kill Mercedes and her men that easily, then the goblins and harpy cannot kill the escort partner that easily. So it will be kind of fun to hear Mercedes say open up that gate while the arisen have Alita as his/her escort partner. All Mercedes and her men is going to do is ignore Alita. So Alita can be free to do nothing but just watch while everybody else fights and watch Mercedes and her men escorting the Hydra's head using the Oxen. This will be Mercedes' way of saying anyone is welcome to join her which means any escort the arisen brings a civilian in that mission and Mercedes do not mind. Besides, that is the only time to escort Alita safely. Alita's escort location is just in the Oxen area right in front of the Gran Soren gates. It can be convenient to drop off Alita there and then go to the Gates so that Mercedes can open up the gates for the Arisen
