    I strongly recommend watching the full video before commenting, any troll comments will be hidden. I want this comment section to be a constructive environment for which we can all share ideas in the hopes of making all games better Hopefully this gives a better insight and mindset we can all apply when talking about CCG's, I think all of us equally want a good experience in this genre, and the best way to help is by giving constructive feedback on what YOU want to see. I hope one day every CCG will be popular, but for now its time we take a look at the formula and figure out what to change :)

    I was actually talking to someone else about this last night, the current state is concerning (Both KZread and game side) however this could just be a "dry season" since the games don't have big story updates as of recently, I think the games have great opportunities ahead of them and am excited to see what happens!

    ngl its because Loomian legacy is basically dying due to lack of updates and too many events and some people just don't like how Tales of Tanorio looks (some of my friends told me that for TOT) I still play TOT, not as much because i'm not usd to the design and that's okay. Some people are just very picky, we can't force them to play, after all.

    I'm going to be 100% with you, I don't see creature catching games lasting another two years on the Roblox platform, it's really sad that such polished games are going to waste when they could literally be pulling 1-2k+ players, but they can't due to the variety games on the Roblox Discover Page being brain rot games.

    I really hate how Modern Roblox is overrun with those bad, low effort brain rotting games such as simulators, P2W games, toilets, and more. Good games like Isle and more should be the ones getting the most visits, not them!

    All the CCG’s on Roblox fail to realise what their audience wants. Their audience wants story and battles(against NPC’s not real players)only a quarter wants to trade, hunt and get into competitive pvp. And if the audience doesn’t want story or battles then they don’t want to play CCG’s. One of the best examples of this are events. Events in all of the main CCG’s have a formula: Quest, Hunt, Trade. You do a quest to unlock the ability to hunt the new roaming/legendary. You then hunt for that new thing. Once you get it you then trade it away for something better if you want. You see the lack of story or replayability here? While you could argue that story doesn’t matter due to it being an event + the quest being the story in a way you can’t deny the problem of replayability. ToT’s Easter event(please correct me if I’m wrong on this)was just a couple tanorians and reskins I believe. Nothing else to do apart from hunt(trade is out of the question for obvious reasons) while LL’s events had a mini game(usually). For Halloween it was the maze, Christmas it was the presents, and for Sweet Retreat it was the whole baking cakes. Along with this the more recent events have been having replayable raids that you can do for fun(or to get certain items). This adds a reason for basically the majority of the player base of that game to play the event even if it is short. Another thing with events is them taking away development time(talking about LL here). We waited a total of I believe 3-4 years for both Atlanthian updates mostly due to them spamming events and other stuff. Luckily ToT hasn’t had this issue as bad due to it being stated that they still work on the main story even when making events. Also about replayability in all of the games LL has basically none same with ToT(though ToT is more excusable with it still being new). DW is the best out of the main three for replayability due to runic island and help centre quests.

    Finally someone said it. Most people don't care about hunting or trading, only a small minority do. I only play LL for the story and the mastery system. Spending endless time hunting for rare looms isn't worth it.

    Yes I don't know why but many peoples hate dw probably due to the meh battle design and the 2d creatures while dw is a really good game (even if i prefer ll). Dw definitively deserve more love and people need to play at the game before say that the game is bad.

    I think these games aren't popular because they're inspired by the literal biggest game in the world. People have no reason to play a Pokemon ripoff when they can just play actual Pokémon. Same reason why all Roblox platforming games slowly die off. Why play a Mario ripoff if you can just play the real Mario. All of the biggest Roblox games are either based on new ideas or on ideas that aren't immensely popular already, giving most people a new experience and a reason to come back to that over a version not on Roblox. (Since they likely don't know about any non-Roblox version)

    The games feel dead because they need more updates and replay ability( like you said). The biggest reason I think why they are losing players is that all the replay ability gets old really fast. They need a new replayable mechanic that brings something new to players beside hunting or pvp becuase they're in every creature catching game and are boring.

    @@itsj-beexd36 i think the reason tot has low playercount is cuz no replayability. There hasnt been a big content update for about 1 month. Usually roblox games do 1 update at least 1 or 2 weeks after release to get players to come back but all tot had was the spring hunt. Hope pvp and gym 3 drops soon.

    Not dead, they just need to FINISH THE STORY. All the events are cool n all but the game isn't done. And pvp isn't in the game yet. Specifically tales.

    In my opinion, they arent really dead. They get a massive surge of players when updating, if they keep that surge and interact properly with their community, we may have something like pokemon brick bronze sooner or later.

    I feel like what most creature catchers need is what Pokemon bb was doing before it was taken down, Other adventures/Modes While back then, it only had the randomizer mode but you could add things like a difficulty mode too. Like a while back, I once wanted a bit of nostalgia so I played a Pokemon bb reupload only to find the game was made more difficult. Thus giving a old experience a fresh coat of paint. Tldr, creature catchers can benefit from Things like randomizers and a hard mode (Maybe even a nuzlocke mode separate from hard) As it allows you to go through something familiar but ultimately have a different experience. Hell maybe one day a creature catcher could add a side story where you start fresh, learn more things about the world/characters/creatures (but separate from your main save so your not just rushing through it). Allowing for you to tell two stories separate from each other.

    Its a essentially the same concept as romhacks, like randomizers, and difficulty hacks like radical red and such. If you want to replay the game with a different experience, you try a romhack for that, and even if the story is unchanged the game can feel entirely different.

    Somebody else already mentioned runic island and I think something like that could be cool to add something like it to TOT(I really like doing runic island and I like TOT so if I could do both at the same time itd be sick) Edit: like an exact copy or anything but just something somewhat similiar in concept, with the TOT twist of a very appealing environment and more

    For me personally, what brings me back to play a creature capturing game is story progression. Hunting gets stale after a while but new story progression always means fresh content you wouldn’t expect, along with new monsters you get to discover.

    Something to grind for . From what i recall , when tales of tanorio released many people were shiny hunting just to be the first one to find the shiny version . PvP and Trading are the basics to grind but since you asked for something rare , i would say do competitions . i know u already do them , but with a bigger audience and prizes for the winners . Me personally, i would want to participate in these event just for fun and not for the prize and there may be many people like me . just holding some competiotions will make tales of tanorio the beast creature capture game on roblox .

    For ToT I would like to definitely see PvP and Trading, which Ik is already in the works, but I think having more to do with ruptures would be a cool thing. Idk 100% what u could do but maybe getting like certain moves that u can give to Tanorians that can only be found when beating a rupture. Ik Pokemon Sword and Shield did something similar and it was pretty cool and gave u a reason to grind ruptures

    I know this was in pbb but i really liked the Hotel update in anthian where you could build and customize your own room it might feel like a pretty miniscule change but i think small changes like that helps the game grow.

    Another point: people have tons of stuff like gammas and gleam roams in LL that they’ve had for years. Why would they want to move to a game like doodle world where they need to start from scratch with no wealth

    From what I've played in tales of tonario. I noticed that the animations felt kind of slow. Im not sure if that can be fixed easily, but it would be nice. The game has a lot of potential and im interested in seeing what you guys do next.

    I made so many concepts and ideas for Tales of Tanorio. They banned me after that because I chat in the wrong channel. They have yet to use any move concepts proposed by users

    If each game had a gimmick like in Pokémon, (Gmax, mega, Z moves or that crystal thing that I genuinely forget about...) maybe then they could do well? Like maybe some have a 3rd typing or maybe you can have one where you can mix 2 things together?

    Something that make those games feel dead is that I AM NOT A FRIEND WITH THE CREATURES While most monter taming games keep being just a fill the dex thing, it will always be behind the pokemon's shadow I want to HAVE FUN with my GIANT WINGED SNAKE, i want to be able to pet my legendary beast that just came out of water to fight a living airplane I want to see my revived prehistoric creatures interact with eachother and feel like i am a biologist learning something from this interaction Right now, not just the roblox games but most monster taming games feel like im just switching from weapons from a regular RPG to a cool creature but that has no soul

    I think the main thing separating current creature capturing games from PBB is the lack of content. How long the play time is what’s going to keep players playing. In PBB there was so much to do with each update, from Z moves to doing numerous side quests. Now most of the content updates are so far apart that’s there not much to do in these games. That’s why you see player count spike during content updates, ppl enjoy actually playing the game.the focus on events and reskins is kinda killing these games bc those updates are only for a really niche set of players.

    I think one thing pokemon does well is the bond and connection between you an your pokemon. For like loomian legacy and such, I feel like these creatures are kind of just a token for trade or collection. Outside of that use, they can only be engaged in battle, but you do not feel like you guys are a team. It is more like using a weapon than fighting along side your buddy. I am hoping for more interactions with the creatures. I think it will make the game alot more lively and fun.

    It would be dope if we had something like our own base and type of laboratory space where we can interact with our tanorians and hold like a starting of 50 tanorians that roam around our park and can be upgraded by 25 slots up to 250 slots max but takes progression through story and trainer mastery!

    I really like CCG, but the problem is that once you reach the end game, all that is left to do is PVP, trading, or shiny hunting. I'm being honest, but I really enjoy the stories these communities bring. Once that is over, there is nothing to do other than what I have mentioned before. These are more of my own ideas, but why not after the first region, make a new region? This way, the story will continue, especially for those who are story lovers and maybe a new type of gimmick, just like Guardian Reversion, but with moves like Z-moves.

    Only content in ToT rn is shiny hunting, and getting a good chain takes like 4 hours of nonstop grinding which is just such a drag, nobody wants to do that, not to mention that it’s only for ONE pokemon

    what i wanna see in CCG is like you said more unique quantities. looking back at it now LL has added new stuff but most of the stuff is pretty much pbb all over again. for pvp a battle royale mode would be amazing for it. Doodle world i stopped playing on a daily basis and gone back to playing just for story cuz i can’t emotionally connect to doodles like i can with loomians and tanorians. and also the major things like pvp are bad. i don’t mean to be negative but wish isn’t that good of a balancer. hopefully they will add animation or something to bring me back on a daily basis. i’m not gonna talk about TOT cuz it’s in its early stage.

    I don't think lucky is wrong here, even though I do understand that he might be upset that ToT is underperforming compared to the top games in the platform (which mostly consist of brainrots) But it's understandable since he took part in a major part of the CCG community. It makes sense because having a game you take part in developing to just lose theyre players after a month would probably make you upset and question if the genre of the game is even alive or not because these projects not only take long to make, but are also incredibly functional and appealing for such a small player count nowadays.

    Although the main roles for CCG games are for hunting, I play all games for the story unless I’m really into the game’s designs. This pretty much goes for any game with stories, I play for the story.

    I'm thinking maybe a creature building game would be interesting. Everybody starts out as a blob and enters newbie portal. 10 per queue. All to find a box of their own. After all boxes collected everybody will have their 1st monster typing randomly obtained from the box

    On the point of replay ability: a skip cutscene/dialogue mechanic would be a lot better (I.E pressing X in undertale shows the entire text.)

    TLDR: appeal to casual player base, prioritize consistent, smaller updates to keep engagement, emphasize multiplayer features, and avoid a bulk of repetitive or grindy content that deters players rather than incentivizes them Honestly I have had a really pessimistic view on CCG’s reaching mainstream because (like you said) by design they’re unsustainable, and you always have people holding out for the next big update I wanna point out that for every new CCG that comes out, it eases the burdens on the others for update times because story updates will inevitably take a while, so people should stop thinking they have to quit one to play the other, when the real advantage is having all these adventures to play that are being developed simultaneously That being said, I think CCGs need to do a lot better job appealing to the casual player base than their specialized ones. Yes, the diehard hunters, traders, and pvpers are going to be your recurring source of players, but games are never going to expand if you constantly cater updates to a singular niche (ex loomian events primarily appealing to hunters/traders with the odds) I think what people want is something they don’t feel pressured to play with FOMO, cause that’s just destructive, but they want any small feature or world-building addition to keep them engaged. One of my fav times with LL was when they had their near-weekly uodates adding wresolen, gym rats, buzzolen, oxidrake, the weathers later on, etc. Again, these updates aren’t meant to sustain player interest at one point in time, but it will retain interest in the game in the long run and ensure that it always feels fresh Also, updates need to stop feeling like chores Lastly, I’d say roblox CCGs gotta embrace why players play them over your standard Pokémon games: multiplayer features The fact that you can adventure alongside your friends and battle against them too (plus show off your creatures together) is why I prefer roblox over pokemon And I think loomian’s peak innovation was in its multiplayer minigames like the jolly gift exchange or the maze, which were really simple but so fun People want a reason to play, as u can see by the player counts in updates, and they’ll appreciate any small update Edit: A few more things Player counts are tinier because people are spread thin across each CCG. Now that we have options, people are naturally gonna dot between them, so the overall consistent player base is still somewhat the same Also, CCG games have to put a lot less emphasis on hunting unless they’re going to revamp it. I’m genuinely convinced no one likes hunting, and those who do either do it begrudgingly or are doing something else while hunting And for that to be the main appeal of the game is a bad impression for casual audiences, who also often miss out on a lot of content because so much requires tedious grinding Replay-ability is key, but more often than not it becomes repetitive instead Make sure updates add to the main game too, rather than events, cause otherwise you’re not only locked out of content seasonally, but the base game barely gets fleshed out, and what could be a month of content is unseen or unheard of by an inexperienced player (and it sucks cause events can be really fun, but new players don’t get to experience them as is)

    I would like to see minigames in creature capture games. Like racing, either Pokémon racing or like obey racing. Maybe fashion shows like in actual Pokémon. Maybe something like battle towers where you have to climb up a tower battling trainers and when u reach the top its like a boss fight. Maybe add a tower defense minigame since tds games are also booming. Make ur creatures defend a tower or sum. Make gym battles and the experience entirely unique, giving the players something to look for each time a gym gets released. Like, add obeys in gyms, fun minigames u must pass, etc. There is a lot of things developers can do, even without listening to their fanbase; so ignorant developers isn't even that big of an issue, its the incompetent, lazy, greedy, and innovative developers that make the genre look weak. Take a look at the past, Brick Bronze. That game was the most basic CCG game with the most basic CCG features (catching, gyms, story, breeding, legendries, shinnies, etc.), and it still, to this day, has a lasting effect on the Roblox community as a whole. 🙏🙏🙏

    The reason they’re “dead” is because the person will beat the game and they will have to wait for an update that sometimes takes forever to update and another reason is because a new player will not know were to go like the biggest example is loomian legacy were the person will not know were to go because they don’t know where the dig site is so they’ll just leave not playing it anymore.

    Icl I tried playing tales of tanorio but it took a whole 30 minutes to get through cutscenes and dialogue. If there's no skip feature added I can see many quitting before it begins like myself.

    Short answer even before you watch the video is because the CCG on Roblox doesn’t shake up or add anything NEW at all I’m hoping that there going to be a good CCG game that does this and also add on to other stuff beside having a generic story and the same battle which is also why more or less it fails as a concept because they don’t add on or shake up game play and also UI matters besides animation 🙄🙄🙄 also I want more interactions with my own creatures or make it so we can do dex showcase how some CCG does it because that makes it feel better but this is my own opinion feel free to say how I’m wrong or add on to what I’m saying.     Well, I think that innovation genuinely, like you said, is the reason for the downfall of creature capturing games. There needs to be game changing mechanics and systems that aren’t just side pieces but mainstream components of the game. As for a game like Tales Of Tanorio, I found that whilst playing it, it just felt like playing a watered down Pokémon Sword and Shield. The environments were very empty and lackluster and the story was just inconsistent. I also found raids to be extremely linear and not really feeling like a “boss battle”. Now, if you compare a game like Tales Of Tanorio to Pokémon, respectfully, Pokémon continues to take a shot at changing up the game completely in quite a few ways in every new generation. In contrast, Tales Of Tanorio feels like a lacking Sword And Shield, a game that’s 5 years late. Tales Of Tanorio is not bad by any means, it’s simply too outdated and has much highly advanced technology underused like 2v2 battles.

    3:34 sounds a lot like Tales of Tanrio, ngl. Just think about shiny hunting as a whole. you're pressing wasd over and over again on a patch of grass/floor, then you're waiting on a black screen and if its not what you're looking for, than you just escape. rinse and repeat. what you're saying here is like mindlessly clicking a button, but with extra steps. I really see potential for the game., but what I find to be a recurring issue with these types of games is content. Some ideas for content I think would be a good addition would be something from Gen 3 of Pokemon, where you'd have a base in a tree, or cavern, but instead of that, you can incorporate that to your mom's house, ingame, since shes actually in need of money in the series, which means that this holds actual weight/reason to add it into the game.

    I agree. I feel like the creature capturing games need to so something different from the others. Doodle world did a fine job at doing that but it still has the same aspect as Loomian Legacy: Story, catch/trade/pvp, and events. I just want some more things to do in these games because they have been really dry in the replay ability aspect. Oh and there is one thing I do think that needs to be adressed... Things are a bit too hard to get in these games... I will list a example for each game: Chaining in ToT for a shiny, getting a mistint or smth hard like that in doodle world and getting a damn gamma in Loomian legacy. I feel like all of those are fine besides loomian legacy with gammas, it's absolutely bullshit how gammas were handled.

    Developers ARen't consistent with updates to keep player pulled into the game. Honestly, they should release small updates like for example (loomian legacy's Heiwa Village Loomian Update). I forgot what those loomians were called, but those small updates like that, if they are like every month, or latest, every 3 weeks (if they can), I think it could keep those games at a good player count, probably better presently.

    the thing that i kinda hate about creature catching games is that, they never finish the story. i mean yea, the events are fire and cool but after thats gone we can only shiny hunt or sumthing. i really like tales of tanorio's story but i was bummed out when it finished in makoto (still not continued) still tot is a good game but i know some of us want the story to be done.

    I get why most games are losing popularity, such as with loomian legacy, their lack of updates, but you have to understand that these devs put in a lot of effort to developing these games compared to trashy games such as sols rng, toilet tower defense, etc. And I get how our attention spans have deteriorated lately but I feel like these games like loomian legacy, doodle world, or tales of tanorio are WAY more fun than the games that are now somehow popular and look like they could be created by a toddler in 5 minutes, the designs in said creature catching games are way better compared to things like toilet tower defense so really, why is roblox actually promoting and supporting trashy brain rot games and prioritizing statistics over quality?

    Creature capturing games are missing what PBB had. And no, that is not pokemon, it is the stuff you could do in it. The game's story wasn't extremely long and tedious to play, and when you did finish, you would have so much more to do. You would have different modes like randomiser. You'd have secret places in the map with exclusive pokemon (and no im not talking about just adding a little item to collect), and the game just looked simple, yet appealing. That's also i think the reason why doodle world was so successful. Its art style was simple, yet unique and appealing. Whereas now, as you can see with TOT and LL, they focus a lot on graphics and models, and just not as much as the playability and little features of the game. Even if you look at current PBB remakes, the devs are constantly adding new secret areas which are not important to the story, but instead give a player something more to do. Applying these small feature to the game would make the game just that much better. Yes, it won't bring back the memories of PBB, but it will get the game as close to PBB as possible, while also having its own features. Shouldve mentioned that stuff in this comment too, but i also wrote another comment on why i didnt initially like TOT.

    Unsure of what i should say.. but on Roblox these games are not lasting due to the impatience of us players.... yeah sure after a year or two id get pretty upset if a game doesn't update at least once but what we have to remember is that "Games take forever to make" I'm going to take Tales of Tanorio for example that game has been teased for almost 2 years i believe and now that its out it has lots of amazing features most games could never dream to have like Voice acting for example or even just the models and animations... these games take a lot of work to make and they cant pump out enough updates because all us players in the discord or anywhere else are like "well hurry up and update already" scripting is hard, modeling and animating is hard, were lucky we even have voice acting.... so please appreciate what these people do for us players...

    My hypothesis is well, most of the devs are Pokémon fans. Specifically they got into the fanmade pokemon game community. Traditionally, fan made pokemon games were all difficulty hacks, so the devs make their CCGs like a pokemon difficulty hack, but Roblox is full of kids who don’t like super hard games

    Lucky, just a quick tip (probably not useful but a tip), if you don't want people to say you are trying to go against LL don't say "You have to pay here, but not on my game!" That just makes people think you indeed are promoting ToT. And also, about raid on LL. They're adding them fully at some point (I know at this update rate we'll get them in 2027, but they'll come and get stale in a week like everything)

    The real reason CC games on roblox have a low active player number because its not pokemon,people want to start their Adventure with their favorite pokemon like charmander or squirtle,they grew up with them and became attached to them,sure they can play but it just doenst feel home to them and not to mention.. roblox,some people say roblox is a kids game(which is not) and a horrible game or a joke to them,sure roblox have tons of Players but are you really certain they're still playing the game or other peoples alts

    Lucky I hope you see this, I used to play Tales of Tanorio like some weeks ago ALOT btw. But I recently stopped playing creature capturing games as in the a video ( I forgot which one) you stated that you can unlock a tanorian temporarily for pvp. I just wanna say that is the reason I quit. As I wanted to farm for battle. I think connecting both trade and pvp is a good thing. It gives tanorians another reason for being worth and will create sub-genre of trading which will be of pvp. I love Tales of Tanorio but I am not ok with this change. But I do hope with all my heart that this game succeeds and reaches heights that not even Pokemon Brick Bronze could've achieved.     I think i see the correlation here DW isn't even that crazy good to begin with, but it can pump out updates like crazy because of its simplicity TOT and LL are both complex to develop games and take longer to update, thus they lose players while DW takes them

    Okay second common I feel bad doing this but I feel like it may sound out of the park but DW and LL could have a whole little mini fighting game or like a flipping rogue light inside of their own game and he is a perfect example a game called bug fables that everlasting sapling has stuff you can do like play actual full-fledged games it would be so cool to have a game within a game for a creature catching game what do the world I feel like it's to set on what it's doing that it doesn't really want to do anything else no dissing to wish it feels like he's not really doing much other than adding more things to hunt same with LL they are on the right track we have a ton of mini games we can play I just feel like they can make them a bit more fleshed out in newer like make their own the side effect is I don't think they're going to do it
