    @BigSmittyRiding I purchased a brand new 2014 Valkyrie from our Honda dealer in 2018 for $13k out the door. Power wise, it was as quick as my VMAX but handled like a dream and was smooth as silk. I sold it a few years later, and now I wished I would have kept it. I just purchased a 2023 BMW R18 brand new for 18k out the door. This will be another misunderstood motorcycle. I love the art deco design and heritage this bike has. I just ordered my Corbin last week. We went to the location in Hollister, and my wife met Mike Corbin. He is a beautiful human. Corbin seats are the most expensive because they're worth it. Comfort is subjective to each but overall, nobody touches the quality. FWIW the Saddleman step up is great for stunting but as far as touring, it doesn't cut it for me, my Badlander's is way more comfortable so I purchased a "Gun fighter & Lady" Corbin for my 2002 Night Train bagger.

    Soft and plush is exactly what you don't want in a bike seat. It's Corbin for my money too. Not cheap but no sweating, chaffing, burning, sore butt. (Not to mention the boys down there). Even after multiple long days in the saddle. I ride Goldwings and you get a $30 seat on a $30K. Touring bike. I have told many riders to not waste money on beads, air cushions, animal hides, etc. Just buy the seat and RIDE! Happy Trails. Beautiful Valk. My Wing is the same color BTW.

    If I didn't have your videos to look forward to, I'd forget it was Thursday! I don't know how you manage to speak extemporaneously for 10 minutes. Even when I conducted meetings on things I was knowledgeable about, I had to have notes. Maybe your wife is holding up cue cards! Anyway, that's a skill I never had. Isn't it funny how almost no motorcycle ever built has a truly comfortable saddle? I mean, I know it adds expense, but for a bike designed for long periods of riding, you'd think they'd put a little extra into them. On my longest ride to date, I found my "taint" going numb at the end. It's a very uncomfortable, and disconcerting, feeling. Nothing down there should ever go numb. You do know where the word "taint" came from, right? I never had heard that term until I moved to Virginia and a former supervisor used it and explained it to me. Overall, I feel Honda did a decent job on the rider seat, but that passenger seat, you can tell when you pull it off how flimsy it is. I've never sat on it, but just holding it, I can tell it would not be comfortable for any length of time. Feels like a thin board with a thin layer of foam on it. Fortunately I don't have passengers often. Corbin makes a great product and I really dig their saddlebags for this bike, so I'm sure the seat is much more comfortable. But for $1000, I just can't. I like how they do the stitching to match the paint. I always said the contours of the Corbin seat look like the underside of a humpback whale. That's not meant as criticism - just an observation. Now, while we're on the subject of the seat... First, Honda's choice of hex bolts to hold it in place. Why? Not everyone keeps hex keys or drivers in their tool set. And unless you have driver bits, twisting those bolts 20 times by hand is pretty annoying and time consuming, not to mention wearing out your wrist (I had to special order driver bits once I discovered this aspect of the bike - I'm not going to hand twist those every time). Second, it's a pain in the ass to have to pull the rearmost part of both the front and rear seats back to get to them, and keep it pulled back the whole time you're twisting it in or out. And third, one of my few complaints about this bike is access to the rear battery terminal, which requires removal of both seats to connect anything to it. Terrible design. You should be able to pull the screw out of the terminal directly from the side panel. But, hey. If that's all I have to complain about, as my riding buddy says "first world problems". I didn't see any Crown Royal this time either. I always enjoy seeing Smitty having a little sippy sip. Alright man, until next week! I note your subscriber base has increased by yet another 2, so keep ridin' and keep rockin'. Kudos! Fingers pointed and tongue click back atcha. 😎🏍👓✌😜

  • @BigSmittyRiding

    @BigSmittyRiding

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the comment and the support as always! Yes, the design of the battery compartment is ridiculous in these bikes! The Corbin seat only makes it worse because it hangs down lower than stock seat so you have to pull it off. I purposefully carry hex keys for the seat because twisting by hand is not an option... I talk so much that I wing it a lot on what I’m saying so the editing of my vids takes forever! Thanks again my friend and stay warm up there!
