The only good thing that came from the collabs is it made it easier for smaller brands like New Balance to challenge Nike in the market. You see New Balances everywhere now, not just the collab ones but the generic ones as well.

"NB is dominating the sneaker market" Is not really true. Nike has 38% of the market share. NB has like 10%. They do sell well because of what you mentioned though. Old style and dad shoes is their jam.

I thought celebrity Collabs were nothing more than change of colorways. I never expected any changes in the technology. But maybe we should start raising our expectations if they’re going to sell these at higher prices

NB just used this collab to debut the 990v6. Essentially, it is nothing more than a change in colorway since NB has released other CWs since then. Other brands have used celeb collabs the same way to debut new tech.

Man I love the way these shoes look. Those colors shouldnt go together, but I find it beautiful. And I generally respect the overall better quality of NB. Was just looking for a deal on a used pair and this video popped up a couple hours later. Wish they werent so expensive. Painful to see one cut.

I love my 1080. As a bigger dude the extra padding under foot is fantastic and they’re some of the only shoes I’ve ever pulled on and they felt as amazing from day one to when I retire them. Two of the retired pairs get used for walking to and from my surf spots, still better then using sandals and but the wetsuit drips water into them so they get pretty 🤢 if they don’t get a day to dry between uses.

Missed out on sharing the real price! 😅 The Baklava is only available on the secondary market, and last I checked the seller wanted $1,003 for a size 11.5. 😢

It would be cool to see an analysis on the NB Numeric Series, for the skateboarding fans! #keepitup man!

I fee like nike yes, new balance no. Some companies have a reputation for cheap products and limited colorways and others rely on making a good product. There is a reason mew balance was the dad shoe for decades. They made a great value product that lasted for the money. With special editions, they make them in the US and models like this use premium materials like pig leather and higher grade foam.

​@@bri1085i hesitate to use the word quality about a shoe that uses especially that much foam in the soles. Along with the other materials on the upper. Yes the leather is decent but the rest of the upper will fall apart. You pay a lot for a shoe that will not last very long. 🤷‍♂️ Granted it is still better the Nike

I think you missed the mark here... Many collabs advertise not new tech but better materials compared to the base model. You should have compared the shoes with the base 990v6 and compared the quality of the materials used between the two, ala the old claim that the ald 550s had better materials than the base

Foamposites are bulletproof. Had a pair in high school and they lasted me 3 years. Still never broke them, just grew out of them. Which is insane

I've been wearing 990v4 for years ( it's hard to find 6e now) the v5 were a dud with that plastic bar on the outside near the ankle and different heel height, I want the V6 to be good, but still have one last brand new v4 6e left.

I used to buy at the made in the USA New Balance 990v in all black till they stop making em. I switched to SAS shoes Journey Mesh Lace Up Sneaker all black.

Kiziks has a newbalance look a like called the milan. I mean when I look at the Milan kizik it screeams new balance. would love to see you cute kiziks or zeba in half. or a video with both as they are both hands free and use similar tech.

The 99X series for New Balance is like the UltraBoost for Adidas. Premium priced shoe with a bunch of tech, but actually terrible for it's intended purpose. It's like buying a luxury sedan with a 8V engine.

All I'll say is the "made in the USA" tag is expensive.

I’m still not into the 990v6 silhouette. Currently have a few models sprinkled into my rotation (998, 990v2, 991, 992, and 990v4) of general shoes. I’ll snag the re-released 993 or new 991v2 before these. The sole and upper don’t fit my taste.

It's an eyesore.

Everybody knows sneakers are overpriced when it comes to materials. But for design and comfort and to be stylish the majority of us still accept the pricetag.

I loved my 990v4's. But they were just the standard black/gray variety. I made the massive mistake of replacing my last pair of 990's with this cheaper pair from them that are made in taiwan. They're trash. Going back with 990's here in a month or two.

I got some wild taste but even I think these are ugly. Highlighter colors with the brown toe cap is disgusting

You could totally run in these but they are heavy compared to new tech. I think they uphold the standards of past models, but are not embracing new technology like their true performance sneakers do.
