Thank you for having a balanced look and opinion on the current situation of Barcelona. As a Barça fan, it feels like most neutrals and/or media just likes to blow everything out of proportion when it comes to Barça. There are problems, yes. There are standards that are not currently being met, also yes. But considering the financial, injury, and honestly the outside-pressure-put-on-players contexts, I believe things WILL eventually start clicking consistently with Xavi at the helm

I would love to see a video about PSV Eindhoven! Having won every single game in the Eredivisie and progressing in the Champions League after having sold Madueke and Sangaré

Personally I don’t think Barcelona are in crisis, the recruitment has just been a bit poor. They’re still going in a better direction but yeah, didnt make much sense to spend 45M on an aging Lewandowski, 50M on an unproven Ferran, and worst of all 70M on Raphinha. It would be easy to brush off for most other top clubs but the financial situation makes it so they kind of have to keep playing them. I wouldn’t say crisis, just more mismanagement.

However, you can also look at the flip side and question his decision to always start Lewandowski, rather than trusting the youth like Marc Guiu. Weird situation to be in as a fan but honestly still think they’ll end up sacking him if they don’t get past at least UCL quarter finals

​@@RabonaTVI think part of the reason some Barcelona fans don't like Xavi right now is that he has seemed pretty clueless. This season, it hasn't felt like he's had a clear philosophy or approach as to how the team will score goals. He also hasn't really impacted games with his subs, sometimes playing players out of position and also keeps playing Romeu despite the fact that he isn't very good.

@@fugaziishime I watch all the matches. Kounde has dropped off a lot. Prior to his injury he was looking better than Araujo, and the two of them were a wall. I have hope he will get back to that level, but he has been poor lately.

Here I was thinking that having a RB this season would mean Barca’s defense was gonna be impenetrable lol. On a serious note tho, I can’t even begin to understand how the defensive back line fell off so hard compared to last season. Was Busquets really the only thing holding them together? He’s the only player we lost that I think could have any impact on how the defenders perform.But then you look at how many silly mistakes they have been making throughout the season and it makes me doubt that losing Busquets is the reason. Kounde hasnt been great for a couple of games now, and I think he performs better when he’s at the RB position.

You need to give things time. Barca is playing well just that the forwards aren't converting. Its a matter of time that it willstart to happen again. Moreover they might have conceded more goals in comparsion to last season but I think Xavi has been doing a great job. Coach can't convert chances and score a goal. His job is to make the create goal opportunities which he's doing very well , it just a matter of time things will be back on track. In Xavi we trust.

Now the club has lost its broadcasting rights and with that its largest source of revenue, completely banking on the hope that titles will get that money back. If that never comes, Barca won't be around in a couple of years anymore

I believe the issue may be that they don’t have a Busquets level player for CDM. He was an important aspect of arguably all the Barça since Pep brought him up. Look at Pep who has been missing Rodri it’s been tough. Only other possible replacement is Kimmich unless someone knows of another player I may not have in my radar. Kimmich wants to stay at Bayern. Offensively as you mentioned they are not clicking making it even worse. Only time will tell what will happen. I believe the defense will click eventually as they have before well I’m hoping it does.

Seeing how real Madrid have more injuries and more points, injuries is definitely a fucking excuse

As a Barca fan the pressure for any manager coming into the job is immense. We as fans demand to dominate and win titles (hanging on the nostalgia of the days of Pep and Lucho) but there’s only a handful of clubs in the world who has fan expectations sky high; and after 2020 it’s been mediocre after mediocre seasons where we had a squad to win (I’m not going to mention our failures in Europe) but I will always have praise for Xavi for bringing in my opinion is the worst Barca squad I’ve ever seen in my life from 9th or 10th all the way to 2nd. Then followed it up with a win over madrid in the super copa that I won’t lie it brought me back to the good old days the way we played that day, and a la liga title. Where I can blame Xavi is the final games after winning la liga las season we were poor like he didn’t maintain the standard after we won the title, making questionable starting line up choices and substitutes, in a couple of games the team played mediocre, and the defense this season even keeping the same players that made a wall last season, and in a couple of post press conferences he claims we played well in games where we did not (again I won’t even go into his record in Europe) but I won’t blame Xavi for the attacker’s failure to convert incredible chances or individual mistakes that lead to goal. I still believe in Xavi as the manager to lead this team but I’ll be a realistic to compete for every competition we are in especially in the UCL well take time; as much as I want for season upon season we compete and win everything football isn’t like that and like Xavi said this isn’t prime Barca from 2010 this will take time.

Barca fan here! I think we have went backwards this season. Party due to Xavi I believe. He seems stubborn on the system that clearly isn't working and we seem to have a mentality issue where we can't seem to play as winners. There are also lots of basic coaching mistakes. How can we win the league and somehow go backwards??? The club/board/staff have also lied to us when they told us in the summer this squad will compete on all fronts. It was pretty clear we were lacking in certain areas. We're seeing that clearly right now...

As a Barca fan, I want Xavi to stay. So many of our fans are rushing to the Xavi out rhetoric but forget he brought us the La Liga title last season, our first in 4 years. Being a club with so many problems, we need stability more than ever and I'd rather temporarily sacrifice achievements for Xavi to stay than for the board to sack him without any real plan. Just look at Chelsea and Sevilla for examples of a manager getting sacked without proper planning.

@@escape2nirvana I think not offering a multiple year contract is just Bayern's policy with older players, not really a reflection of their belief of him to drop off. They did the same with Muller and Neuer. His 1st season at Barca was in people's mind's a success. I'm sure he would have done the same or even better than his 1st season at Barca if he chose to stay at Bayern. Bayern would have done better too. I do agree that Barca signing him isn't the most wise decision but it was understandable, Barca's attack has been inconsistent ever since Neymar left and they needed someone to bring more consistency and Lewy was definitely the epitome of that at the time.

Lots of people screaming about the players, but personally I put most of the blame on Xavi. It's the manager's job to get the best out of his players and to set up a system that fits his personnel. It would be one thing if the team was playing great with a couple of players under performing. But this whole team has been a mess this season. From both an attacking and defensive point of view. Almost every player has regressed under Xavi. Especially this season. Lewandowski came in off the back of 7 straight 40+ goal seasons. And while a gradual decline was to be expected for him in particular due to his age....It doesn't explain the drop off of all the other players. Gundogan, Raphina, Kounde, Lewy...All of these guys were among the most sought after and if form players in world football before they arrived. Lewandowski and Gundogan in particular. Now people are whining about "poor recruitment". But it's not just their recent signings that have taken a step back....Players like Pedri and Araujo have also regressed massively this season. As has Balde, Ferran and Romeu. At a certain point you have to look at the manager. They are the person responsible for results. This is why clubs sack managers and not players. The idea that Barcelona doesn't have the players to be playing better than they are is absurd. Look at clubs like Girona, Leverkusen, Aston Villa, etc....Do they have more talented squads? Of course not. But they all have an identity, and play smart football, practical football, with confidence and belief. Their coaches are squeezing out every last bit of potential from their teams. As much I rate Xavi as a player and what he achieved in the game for me he is a mediocre manager. I wouldn't say he's bad per se. But he's definitely not a great manager. And at a club with the size and aspirations of Barcelona mediocrity simply isn't going to cut the mustard. We've seen most of their players playing amazing elite level football not long ago. Now suddenly they are all putting in stinkers left, right and center. The longer they stick by Xavi the longer they will be plagued by mediocrity.

The problem with Lewandowski isn’t only his lack of goals, it’s his pitiful all-around play. The man seemingly can’t do anything well with the ball and for some goddamn reason he thinks he’s Benzema so he sometimes drops down to help with the build up, but since he isn’t Benzema he usually fucks up or does a back pass. I’m tired of him already and the fact that Xavi refuses to bench him. I’m done watching matches in which he and Raphinha start because I simply can’t take it anymore

I don’t think Xavi should be dropped like so many Barca fans cry out right now. I’ve seen positives that have been hindered by drop in form and yes some tactical errors on his part. I just think he needs to improve and reform his vision tactically. Hopefully his admittance that there will never be a Barca team like the one he had will show him that his vision needs to change.

Of course From the top down there’s a lack of vision for the club and it’s overall strategy. Barca had that wonder period primarily because of Cruyff, not Laporta. People screaming for Xavi to return clearly had no idea what the problems were at the time and were just a bunch of clueless idiots. The issues were always deeper than that.

Well thank you for not going down the Xavi should be sacked route as I feel like calling for managers to be sacked in situations as nuanced as the one Xavi, Ten Hag or Pochettino are in is a sign of laziness and disingenuous-ness on the part of pundits, journalists and fans alike. Having said that, I'm not absolving Xavi of all blame here as I think that he has made decisions certain times, that have exacerbated the situation. For example in matches against Granada, Valencia and Mallorca where Barca was chasing a goal, Xavi had the option of throwing on Marc Guiu for the final 5 or so minutes to get the goal that could have won him those games. The two times he has taken a chance on Guiu the kid delivered so you wonder why Xavi was reluctant in those other instances, secondly his team selection has on quite a few occasions been questionable Alaves and Villarreal the most glaring examples. But all that aside it's important to look at Xavis job in the full context of what this Barca team was and has been since he took over. He has had to work with over 42 different players, only a handful of the squad he had on day 1 of his job is still around today. He has never gone into a season knowing which players will be registered and available for him not until at least 1 hour after transfer deadline day and he rarely knows his strongest starting 11 because every now and then one or two of his key players gets injured. On top of all that, Xavi has never actually had a proper preseason with all his players fit and available to him, I mean right now 3 of his starters didn't even take part in any preseason action with Barca (the 2 Joaos and Inigo) so for sure Xavi has had his work cut out. Of course, like Adrian pointed out Madrid have had mad injuries too but the difference is Madrid is managed by someone with over 20 years of experience at the top level, Xavi is in only his 2nd full season at the highest level. Also I think let's not underrated the kind of effect injuries to vital players can have on a team, just look how even Pep is struggling at City coz of injuries to 2 or 3 players, prior to the loss to Madrid, Barca had 8 first team players out injured lol. Anyway, as a Barca fan I think that if Xavi can get like 2 or 3 weeks to work on training these players during the winter break and keep his squad fit, Barca could still have enough to win at least defend their Super Copa and win Copa Del Rey with a decent UCL showing because they definitely have the quality of players to do that...but then again when you're finishing like this lot are rn 😅

All this xG is fine but have you actually seen how they play? Players take up a whole day to decide whom to pass. It means that the attacking moves are not well drilled in training. Compare it to Arsenal and you will see the difference. Coming back to xG, i get where all the xG is coming from - crosses. Raphinha, a 75m winger takes 3 touches before crossing the ball. If that counts towards xG then obviously that number would go up. There aren't any real chances created. No through balls, no cut backs, nobody cares to take on a defender. Your stats cannot tell the full story. I don't want Xavi sacked but I know he is not the one who can lead Barca to trophies. Last season was an anomaly.

I'm sorry but you can't apply the standard of "every other team" to Barca this year. Xavi simply doesn't have five seasons and five billion to build a reliably competitive squad. Barca sold everything they had for one shot at recovery, and there, every game needs to be on the mark. Add to that the fact you have Felix and Cancelo, who were crucial in the matches Barca did end up winning, being here on loan, with their time running out, and it becomes even more apparent why you need to make Barca work NOW. Xavi is STILL experimenting with the squad, halfway through the second season, to find the sweet spot. But the thing is, if he doesn't figure it out soon there will be no Barca to lead to victory

I've lost trust in Xavier not because of this season, but also for the last. We've had a terrible attack for the whole of 2023 and yet nothing has been done to change it. Last year at least our defense was impenetrable, this season it isn't even halfway there.

@_osvaldo___5529 defo did, that's why I said I started losing trust from last season. It's not bcz I don't think he can win, just cuz I don't think he can ever win everything. At barça I want someone who has the potential to win a treble someday. Can't see Xavi doing that.

@@ahmadag1820 I don't agree, but I do respect your opinion. What I think about Xavi is that he isn't innovative, he follows what others do, he doesn't reinvent or invent.
