is the resistor needed since the potentiometer is already a resistor?

The potentiometer use for input signal to analog pin and fix resistor use for protect LED.
Wouldn't it be even possible without arduino? Since it is a cuircuit consisting only out of an led, a resistor, a potentiometer and a power source. Or did I forgot to mention something?

5:06 Led can burn if potentiometer value is turned to 0.

@@agarvipul Then advance a resistor so there is always a minimum resistance, even if the potentiometer value is turned to 0. Would that work? (Didn't watched the video but skipped it only)

@@seeking9145 Yes it will surely work. But using Arduino you can read value of resistance in serial monitor. Also this is just basic use of potentiometer. For more complex circuit we can implement circuit shown in video. Otherwise Arduino is not needed.
Hello, did the exact same but my LED only does act like open-close, instead of glimmering gradually. Any idea about what's going wrong?

oh yeah, i've figured it now. I was using a pin that wasn't specified with (~) symbol, in this case it's pwm i guess. Thank you!

@@jagritsaini689 place the cable on pwm pin (pins categorized with a ~ symbol), it should work after that

Don't follow this guys. He used a resistor to bypass the connection between variable resistor and led , so that when variable resistor is varied current through the led also varying
