Arduino Servo Control: How to Make a Laser Turret with XOD
Ғылым және технология
A tutorial on what servos are, how they work, and how to control them. Then I build a laser turret using a pan-tilt servo kit and an Arduino Uno. The Arduino is programmed with XOD, a free visual programming language.

As an Electrical engineer your explanation for PWM control over the servo is fantastic. It is concise and the visuals help a lot. I'll be using this material to teach a class , thank you so much.
Excellent. One of the best videos I've seen. I wish I had this video around when I was into RC model airplanes. In RC, we use either servo "testers" or some of the newer transmitters have a servo test feature built in. It is wild watching all of the servos move the control surfaces through their paces at one time without any intervention.
nice to see you again

HE’S BACK!!!
Wow I didn’t know servos were different than regular electric motors... You learn something new everyday. Thanks!
Best electronics tutorials on youtube. Topics are interesting and explained well. I hope the videos never stop!
This is probably the first maker tutorial I've seen that gave me the sense that I could actually do it myself. Excellent explanation.
always loved your videos man, its so much well put together than some of the videos out there. glad to see you back
I was actually just starting to work with servos so this is extremely helpful
Great tutorial, well presented and structured. Enough detail without slowing the pace!
Man, this is another EXCELLENT video. Beavis would be proud!!! I m inspired to build something using servos. Thanks...
One of the best explanations of anything i have ever heard in my life. Man deserves an award
Glad you're back. And with a perfect tutorial at the right time for me. Thank you!
Love it! Metal Gear and Bevis and Butthead. Nice to see you're posting again. Your videos are by far the best.
It is amazing to see a new video from you...
Amazing video and unbelievably easy to understand, great work and thanks for making things much easier to understand for an absolute novice/noob to electronics etc.
I’m very happy that you’re back, we missed your videos.
it`s very nice of you to explicitly mentions the common ground thing. lots of beginners don`t think about that
AFROTECHMODS RETURNS 😍😎
Wait, I knew almost everything about servos beforehand, but I watched the entire video. It is *so informative*!!!!
Great that you are making new content! I love your great style of explaining.
Nice to see, you're still alive. Loved the video. Very well done.

Thank you! It's 'THE' clearest tutorial I'd come across...Sub & Liked :) Now waiting for the delivery of servo's to get started. Once again, a million thanks!!!
Excellent Video! Thank you for all the great videos over the years! Happy New year!
It's nice to see you again! wish you will made a lot of new videos. It's been a long time since you have gone.
Rediscovering how much I like electronics. Very informative. Thumbs up and subscribed.
Great to see you’re back!
"! METAL GEAR yes they're solid " i died. Oh god beavis and butthead sounds. Horns AND pigtails? You are insane, there's no such creature...
Holy shit Afro! Higno-chu here, from the old forums. Haven't heard about you or Pikachu for a long, long time. Really glad to see that your channel has grow so much! You are a pionner and deserve it. Congrats on the great work!
Excellent video, easy to follow and packed with info.
First time viewer here and I really like what I see :) I was looking for a basic servo motor explanation and this really hit the mark. Maybe you could do a video showing how to program the bigger servos such as the ClearPath ones. Will keep coming back for more.
I missed your vídeos, thanks for posting!
Great to see you upload again.
DUDE!!! I almost unsubscribed from your channel because I thought you quit making videos altogether. Glad I stuck it out for another great video.
Awesome, nice to "see" you again. My favorite electronics channel.
this is so beautiful thank you for this information about the arduino and servo motors
it's has been a long time, without a video, nice to see you again
This is the best informative video I have ever seen. Subscribed! So excited to see your other videos!

Very nice demo as usual! thanks and have a nice New Year's
After long time! Anyway, awesome video.
Another great video. Nice hearing frim you again.
Thank you this is a really great way to end 2017 hope we get more vids in 2018
Good to see you Aftrotechmods! Based on keywords like laser, turret, visual, I assumed I'd be an OpenCV like tutorial. Well, looks like my automatic aiming turret won't build itself, and nobody other, so I have to.. :D Probably this tutorial will be more useful for some of my friends than for me :)
You are really good at this, man!
Discovered this channal 2 days ago, was sad that it wasnt active anymore... nice!
Bravo! Best KZread how-to video ever!
Awesome work, thank you very much, and happy New Year...
Didn't know XOD yet, thanks, that will open up some stuff for me and the kids!
It's being a while . I almost thought some one was playing me when a notification popped up. Nice to hear from you again. Have a great 2018
This helped me a lot. Thank you so much!

Simply the best teacher! Thanks
im glad he's back
Ahh I'm happy you're back.
Just loved your editting
Missed you a lot!
Earned my subscription with the metal gear pun. Plus all this torque about motors twisted my arm and forced my hand.
welcome back baby !!

Welcome back!
Thank you so much for showing me XOD! I suck at programming
love your videos as always,, watching her in PHILIPPINES😊😊

Great stuff, verry good explanation.
I really enjoyed this video ! I got to get off my but and buy an arduino. And did not know about XOD. Pretty cool, that some good programming.
Really nice! And glad you're back! :D You only forgot about servo testers. ;)
Thanks much for pointing out XOD pal. Just a few days ago I was trying to find some Arduino library/code to take a 'pattern' input to demo a camera pan/tilt setup. The only stuff I've found so far is some CNC G-code but this is too much overkill, so it looks like another DIY project. Currently I'm trying to think of a way to do a simple 'pattern' read via serial that might fit into Atmega328 EEPROM..
Great video ... Long time no see !
Your videos are so good do you have one explaining how to control multiple servos with PCA9685?
Can you do a video on an oscilloscope FFT function? Also a very useful video :)
For a total novice i am well impressed, great tut
I really wasn't expecting that Metal Gear pun... Well played good sir.
Excellent tutorial 😁 thanks
thanks, great video, i did not know about XOD
oh no it's ladder logic for 'duinos! :) Seems pretty cool actually. Much more accessible for some people and good for training. Thanks!
Took me about 7 seconds of this video to hit subscribe :)
