yes you need to be on your both legs not sitting but standing on the stirrups for Flexibility when shooting to adjust with the horse's speed and movment. Another reason is when mongolians break the horse its very helpful to have high saddle for support.

@erikandreasnilsson Saddles used by Mongols differ a lot. For example , i am not sure but east mongols use low saddles, some khalkha mongols use high saddles because of the de style(or decoration...). High saddles look cool :) Because i have seen them... High saddles are easy to break apart when horse go crazy etc... It's difficult while riding on the horse. For daily use , low saddles are prefereble.

@erikandreasnilsson I really do not know the answer to the question why we use this type of saddle. When we say saddle in Mongolian we mean what is shown on the video. A t the same time, I am sure our saddle has evolved over thousands of years. So, given our culture and lifestyle, we believe that the current version of Mongol saddle is the best saddle for us, our horses, and the way we ride horses.
