Absolutely. With some of these bands it's just about the music and I don't care what he's singing about. @@metaldrummersonly4402They are amazing in both personality and their sheer talent. I've been a fan for a bit over a decade now; on the first ever Tech Trek Tour, my friend was the promoter for the Toronto show. Archspire were just about to release "Lucid Collective Somnambulation" and were co headling with Beyond Creation, who I was already a fan of, as that promoter friend and I knew Forest from opening for shows for Quo Vadis and Augury when we were in a band together in the early 2000's and Forest was in those two bands. The Archspire guys crashed at my place after the show! They were so appreciative at the time, but they never remember me whenever I talk to them after a show these days! Considering how little I remember about people I meet even a month ago, I can't blame them! They just keep getting better. I guess part of the reason they do what they do is because they enjoy to challenge themselves. I've seen them around half a dozen times live by now and it's amazing how much they've exploded in popularity in recent years. I'm so glad they're getting the recognition they deserve! It's been great watching them go from playing bars to large venues! They certainly put in the work!

If I remember right, he had a dream where alien parasite things invaded and their pools of golden blood were mirrors into the future or something like that and he just ran with that idea creating this whole horror-based story/lore. i love oli because his vocals compliment the drums very well and they are not meant to be understood, at least not at first listen, but i also love will ramos because his vocals are like a whole nother instrument.

The album cover fits the name of the song very well. It'd be cool if you do a little snippet of album arts in your videos

Two things, that Heart Shaped Box cover, BEAUTIFUL. Second, he didnt seem to dislike it cant wait to see him react to AUM specially that sample at the beginning also cant wait to see how he reacts to Vulvodynia, also sad that Vulvodynia lost their main vocalist due to stuff but cant wait to see what they come up with up next. In the topic of the lyrics, what I found is: "Lyrically, the album tells the story of a world where humans have started giving birth to creatures called the Boanet. Vocalist Oli Peters discussed the album’s concept with their record label Season of Mist: I thought about what if those things they were giving birth to could actually benefit them in the future so they wouldn’t want to reject them. What would happen to the humans that weren’t born? Would they go to a different dimension? I played with that whole idea because I hadn’t seen a horror movie where that was the theme. It worked for all the songs. The only social commentary is that people don’t know what they’re giving birth to - if you put someone on this planet, you don’t know whether they’re going to be good or evil. Bleed the Future also shares some thematic elements with Archspire’s previous album, particularly in the first and last tracks. “Drone Corpse Aviator” directly parallels Relentless Mutation, focusing on the flying mutant corpses described in songs “Human Murmuration,” and “Calamus Will Animate.” Additionally, the album’s final track mentions two of the main subjects of Relentless Mutation: a cult-like group known as A.U.M. and a mysterious black substance called The Drip. The A.U.M. is also referred to in “Golden Mouth of Ruin.”

One of the best comments I’ve heard on how to listen to these is “just consider the vocals an instrument”. Once you realize that, it all changes

That's what I've been saying, gutturals are better used as another instrument of a death metal song, rather than as the main course like it is in rock or pop rock music. There the singer usually is the main focus. I think that in death metal, vocals shine best as part of the instrumentals

If you do another Archspire tune, you have to do Drone Corpse Aviator. That's a banger. It also steals a lot of classical motifs in the guitars.

If you look at the liner notes you can also see the lyrics to guttural vocals. It’s no harder than relying on a translation of a language with which you’re not familiar…

Seeing as Judson mentioned he likes it when bands create their own lore, can i point you in the direction of the band The Gloom in the Corner? Their discography is one big clusterfuck of a story. Musically, the most interesting song is probably Hail to the King, but its also the latest song in the siory currently, so you can start anywhere you choose really lol

Honestly, Judson is really on point with his comparison to opera singers actually singing in a different language. Guttural vocals are honestly kind of their own language in music. Once you hear enough bands that use the various techniques of producing harsher vocals, you start to pick up on the patterns of each variation, and then hearing a new band that uses a style you've heard one-hundred times, you can much more easily pick out exactly what they're saying. That aside, great pick for introducing Judson to more technical stuff. This song is easily my favorite track on the album, because it has so much overt groove, but mingles it seamlessly with Archspire's aggressive and technical compositional style.

Correction: You would for the most part not know what an opera singer is singing even if you understood the language. I speak both Italian and German fluently and I have no chance of understanding famous German and Italian Operas without a libretto.

Archspire is one of those bands I've heard the name of a million times but never really listened to before. I like the music, some parts reminded me little of the bands 'The Devils Of Loudun' or 'Inferi'. I'm really not a fan of the fast rap-pace vocals personally though. I'd love to see you guys react to some Be'lakor! They're one of my favorite bands of all time, up there with TBDM (though different styles). They're melodic death metal, but not usually really fast paced. Songs I'd suggest as starters: -Countless Skies -In Parting -An Ember's Arc -Much More Was Lost Those second 2 are part of concept albums that tell stories. An Ember's Arc is the start of a story for its album and it's about the fusion in the sun creating a photon of light, so there's no needed context other than "it continues from there". Much More Was Lost is the last song of an album, so just for context the people that the kids come across in their adventures in that song are references to victims of tragic lives in the other songs. It's about the kids losing their innocence and blissful ignorance of the sadness of the world so to speak. The album as a whole is a collection of tragic stories of people living around a mountain over time.
