Lyrics
Burn the alter built by the dollar sign
Those waters are shallow
That’s why the kids all say
‘Get the fuck out of our way’
‘Cause we’re picking up the slack
Taking power back
Yeah, they made a bed out of our bones
Said it’s all just overblown
It doesn’t matter if you’re friend or if you’re foe
Do you really think you wanna be saved?
I wanna sing you a different song
One that’s easier to swallow
Everything is fucking fine
We can dance we can all sing along
We can say how we all wanna be saved
But it’s easier to follow
I wanna sing you a different song
One that’s easier to swallow
We all say that we wanna be saved
But it’s easier to follow
There are vultures preaching the party line
Those goldmines are hallowed
And if we look away then we’ll all have hell to pay
So we cover up the tracks
There’s no going back
Yeah, I know that Rome was overthrown
But it wasn’t done alone
And you would think that we were better off below
Were you hoping that the dead could be raised?
If we miss the deadline we can always blame the Divine
Gripping knives and praising lowlives
Nobody could say with a straight face
They didn’t have it coming
They fucking had it coming

A lot of ppl hating this new sound. I would say there's actually several sounds on this album. It actually feels like one of their most diverse albums (granted there us more groovy and poppy stuff them ever before.) But I personally really appreciate when a normally heavy band throws some curveballs at me like this. Even if the sound seems more generic, basic, or mainstream. If they didn't do that then I wouldn't be able to enjoy something different. I can actually enjoy hearing some slightly poppy sounding shit from an amazing band like Architects. I wouldn't be able to enjoy that sound from an actual artist who makes that kind of music regularly bc I by default wouldn't like it just for being that. At least if that sound is there it's a band I love mixing it in for me.

@@sarcasm4371 LF/LT and All Our Gods had great writing, no doubt. The lyricism on those songs you mentioned are the near pinnacle of the metalcore genre. That being said, this doesn’t detract from the lyrics from this record IMO. The album trilogy of LFLT AOGHAU and Holy Hell focused on being in a horrid mental state and feeling trapped in a never ending spiral of despair, whereas this is a very different theme Architects is trying to tackle, with topics about the the current state of the world and how we are destroying it. Phrases like “If we miss the deadline we can always blame the divine” and “We’ll all be hanging a hero, praying for someone to save us” and others are deep in rhetoric and meaning once you dive into the meaning of the album and it’s a very rewarding listen once you delve deeper into the lyrics.

  • @sarcasm4371

    @sarcasm4371

    3 жыл бұрын

@@iitzwesty3650 I think you need to go back then, because there are a number of songs in their discography that are written much better than this album about needing to save the world. Holy Hell was not about spiraling into despair either, it was more about finding some hope in the tragedy, at least that's how the band put it. Look I know it's all subjective, but when a man writes some of the most straightforward lyrics while also using figurative language in some of the most creative ways to describe his cancer that ultimately caused his demise, those lyrics will stick with you for the rest of your life. Then I listen to a song like Little Wonder or Meteor and I never want to finish then because of the lyrics alone. I don't know man, I just don't get it. You can sing about saving the world all you want but if the delivery isn't there like on the old songs through hard hitting instrumentals are vocals, the lyrics won't hit the same. The passion in the old vocals are not even comparable to on this album for me. Also over repetitiveness of lyrics should be a crime in music.

@@sarcasm4371 "I want to sing you a different song, one that's easier to swallow" they want to get their message out to the masses so the rock sound, simplified lyrics and clean vocals are the best chance of doing that. Don't get me wrong I would love to have them make this album in their original sound and more complex brutal lyrics like their old stuff but unfortunately that wouldn't generate many plays by the masses. I respect the hell out of them though for changing their sound because that shows how serious they are about their goal of the album which is saving the fucking planet.

@illuminerdi could not cover these songs because have more ambiental /electronic elements, not because he'll not like em, probably we'll see reaction videos
