I've been gap shooting for about a year now and find it's fine for target archery, I'm wanting to try 3D but with a massive gap in close it's not been possible. I'm definitely going to give both raising my nocking point and using a different finger for my anchor. Thanks for the tip.

Under the chin is getting the nock of your arrow right under your eye so it is going straight. On the corner of your mouth the nock of the arrow is right of center thus the arrow is moving left. You need to get closer to your face or, if you are centered then tune your arrows to hit center when anchoring there. I see the target, arrow and all.

On some bows yes and others no. It just depends on what I'm shooting. Most of my bows are in the 40-45# range. I hunt off the shelf and 43-50# bows.

Sight picture and anchor points - What kind of sight picture are you seeing when you gap shoot? What I mean is, are you slightly canting your bow to the right? My riser seems to block my target from me. 2nd question, when I anchor on the corner of my mouth, my arrows fly to the left of my target. But when I anchor below my jaw, and string is on my nose. Where ever my arrow is lined up that's where the arrow lands. The problem is that my riser blocks my target. Any suggestions? TY

When I try to gap, if I keep the bow vertical my eye isn't over the arrow unless I cant the bow. So then I'm having to gap the wind age also. Am I doing I would like to be able to keep the bow vertical, am I doing something wrong?

I would have to see you shoot, but it's most likely your anchor point. If you're not getting the nock of the arrow under your eye then it's more difficult to see. You have to get that string hand into your face and the nock under the eye. I suspect you are more on the side of your face. Where do you see the string in your vision? my string is lined up with the riser.

Alright, I'll try a higher anchor. As for the nocking point. How far can you go with no issues. Currently the bottom of my nock is at the top mark of the bow Square. So it's 1/2" above centre? Or perhaps 5/8" above centre actually.
@jimmyblackmon
9 жыл бұрын
You can easily go to 1" on most bows. If you are shooting short distances that is critical. I know a guy that has won multiple world championships and he is 1 1/8" above center. It's not ideal arrow flight but it works for him.
@Gallowness

jimmyblackmon And when you say 1" above, you mean that the bottom of the nock is one inch above the shelf right? The top marking of my bow square corresponds to 5/8" above the shelf. Sorry for all the questions, but I'd like to do everything I can to help my shooting with split finger :)

I have to shoot split finger for the longbow competitions here, but that increases my gap considerably. My arrows are 30,25" long. Currently the height of my anchor is middle finger in the corner of my mouth. How much benefit would 32" arrows give me? Have never tried ring finger in the corner of my mouth, but that would raise the arrow to about the previous three under height. Any tips?

Jimmy May be a bad question but,...any way. You are right hand shooter so, when you aim with the arrow tip, Do you see the arrow tip between the raiser and string or, you see the arrow tip to the left of the string? Regards
@jimmyblackmon
9 жыл бұрын
The tip is outside (left) of the string and riser. Many folks do not see the string. That is because they anchor so far outside of the eye line. You have to get that nock under the eye, but the arrow is still left of the string. I line the string up on the riser. It's another way of lining the shot up for consistency.
