Humans have been using bows for tens of thousands of years until repeating firearms in the 19th century. We've had a long time to refine and perfect the craft. Bows in medieval times actually had even heavier draw weights than anything you'll find on the commercial market today.

My dad passed away last year. He was 95. A WWII vet. He was a man's man. Back in the 60's and 70's he used to hunt Elk. He still had the antlers from many of them. Lots of pictures as well. In the last few years of his life, he said he regretted little, however, looking back, he regretted his hunting years. He said they were beautiful, wild animals just living their lives and he killed so many. He regretted that. In all my life, that was the only time I heard my dad say he regretted something. Seeing the beautiful animals hunted like this where the hunter lacks the testicular fortitude to track them and go after them rather than sit on their ass in a tree, it's so sad. Sitting in a tree waiting for an animal to pass by who won't have a chance is NOT hunting.

You have to understand that some of us hunters do a lot more than just sit in the tree ya know... we track these animals and find their patterns so we can find and try to take them down. It is also very important we keep the populations controlled because they can be harmful to us and other animals. We also dont kill these animals just for fun we also do it for food and to provide for our families. I would rather have meat that I know where it comes from and who touches it then it be handed around through the hands of proccesors, packaging, and grocery stores.

@@yaboykole558 I get it. When my dad went hunting for deer or Elk, he tracked them and hunted them down. Sometimes he got them, sometimes not. What is preventing you from doing the same rather than sitting in a tree waiting for the animal to wander by? Why not get out there like so many other hunters and physically track them down? It's cheap to sit in a tree and wait for them to wander by. They don't have a chance. If the animal you are killing never had a chance, then that's not hunting.

  • @yaboykole558

@@beachlife4704 some animals you cannot track them there senses are insanely good, things like elk are bigger game and arent as alert and scitish as whitetail. Hunting has changed and I understand that, but you simply cannot go track something like you used to, the animals have adapted and know how to avoid human interaction, thats why I track and see where they walk to intercept them in their routine. At least where I am from thats how people hunt... its probably diffrent for someone who lives in the middle of nowhere and the animals have less interaction with humans.

That’s not true at all. Nature takes care of that through predation. The ill, weak, and deformed do not last very long in the wild. There aren’t wild animals nursing homes. Predation is an extremely gruesome thing of nature. An animal undergoing a quick death by a human is actually doing the animal a favor. All animals get hunted and killed by predators, whether they are weak and ill or strong in their prime. Would you rather get eaten alive by a pack of wolves over the course of an hour or shot through the heart to die 15-45 seconds later?

Some hunters will eat the bear too (its meat is harder than those of domestic animals as it has more muscle fibers and for example I prefer to let it marinate a few hours before cooking it) while some will find it unappealing. I feel kinda bad letting some part of it there after so much work put in for hunting the bear, so I take all of it back with me, including the meat. You can serve it as hunting specialities at a party or so (I usually do a plateau with more types of hunt meat so the people choose what they want and the people I invited until now were very happy with the idea they could try the real meat and not the one from supermarket)

I understand (historically -- we needed to hunt to survive), I can understand how "eating your kill" and getting out and hunting with family is a bonding experience, I more than understand that these skills are necessary and should be kept alive; however, I wish you could show a little more humility and respect for the loss of life -- control your giddy, it's Christmas morning and I've earned this attitude. Be more mind-full and respectful for taking a life when it's not necessary (in absolute terms) to survive. My father raised me that hunting was a reverent art -- my recommendation is that you find someone who takes this seriously and can teach you ceremony and you can then teach your viewers a reverent attitude for God's creatures. I have no problem with hunting, eating animals, or "the kill" -- it's the after.

8:36 I can't belive how fast that bear died. After contact - Bear: "ouch!, what the hell was that?!, Was that you 55 gal. drum? Hey wait, I'm bleeding! I'm outta heeeeee...the forest is spinning...I feel dizzzzzzy"...... BOOM! dead. If you get a good heart shot, that's how it goes down. The bear never knows what hit it.

Hunting is an art, when I do it, I show utmost respect to the animal. It is a living breathing creature just like us. Just wish more hunters had less ego and actually had respect for the animals that will give so much to you and your family.

It’s for the most part not the bow. Yes the bow has some part in it, but the arrow is the way more important factor in it. The arrows weight, aerodynamics.
