I have a degree in electronics and have over 20 years of experience in a commercial sector. Lots of people don't understand that in many cases only the packaging is different between brands. There may be two companies in the world that make a dozen different brands of the same product and only the shell, color, and maybe a few accessories are different. As a real world simple example, years ago when I was in school we went to the Crescent Tools factory back when their manufacturing was still US based. They were making the exact same pliers and putting like 4 different brands on them including their own. The game changer for those little welders is the power supply itself. That technology has been around a while and not only enables the unit to be small and light but also less expensive than old power supply types. The other argument for the little companies that I always hear is that it's "reverse engineered, knock-off crap". Well, yes in some cases that can be true, but in others it can also work against the large companies because in the reverse engineering process fixes can be made for problems with the original design. I see it all the time in the sector that I work in and in some cases the reverse engineered, "knock-off" stuff can actually be better. I while back I wanted a random orbital polisher to do paint correction on my truck. I'm not a detailer and didn't want to spend $400 to $500 on a polisher. After doing the research I found a model on Amazon that was the exact same as the largest brand but with different logos slapped on the side... Once the cover is opened they are all the same numbers and are the exact same... I paid less than 50% of the cost of the big brand and got the same tool... I just wanted it for occasional use... That said, in my research there were professional detailers who were buying them like mad. Another example is my cousin used to work in the automotive industry... he used to laugh and say that a lexus is just a toyota with lipstick on it... several more brands are like that too...

I've been a welder for 40+ years, when my little mig eventually got too old I bought an inverter that could do just as yours does. I was suprised at just how smooth and stable the stick arc was, mig seems to be good up to about 120 amps as is the scratch start tig. To be honest I was doubting it's abilities when I picked it up and it was light as a feather but all seems good after a year of occasional home use as that's just what it's designed to do, you can't compare it to an industrial 500 amp set, their two totally different animals.

When my son in laws mower deck got a hole blown through it, there were no used or new ones to be had with supply chains being what they are. I ended up riveting metal for a repair but it never looks neat and clean like a weld will. Thanks for sharing.
