"In this third release of the French dungeon synth duo, we travel to medieval France. At its core, this album firmly represents Arcanist's signature Berlin School sound, but it is much more than that. Averoígne explores aspects of medieval music and folk instrumentation. Guitars, lutes, mandolin are peppered with live percussion, drum set and even spoken word. As the title suggests, the music's inspiration is taken from the Averoigne stories of the American fantasy writer Clark Ashton Smith. The album concludes with the epic masterpiece The Colossus of Ylourgne in two parts, clocking in at almost 15 minutes each. The grandeur and scope of this album truly transcends any classification, and it will surely take the listener on a rich and unforgettable journey of the imagination."

This is some of the best stuff I've heard from this channel. Track 4 has a REAL Diablo 2 vibe, definitely some of the same chords in there. Goes great with chillin and reading Berserk. *chef's kiss*

Spectacular, mysterious, arcane, deliciously dark, nostalgic and yet new, epic, transporting....I could go on. Thankyou Arcanist, it's genius. 55:18 is a glorious change up that makes that completely epic final track!

I did not but i googled what the colossus of Ylourgne was and i am aware of his writings now. So even better: i learned of a new book series to one day read

Old, 'warm' synths such as the ones Tangerine Dream used. I think a lot of Dungeon Synth fits into it already without being labeled as such.

Artistic choice i suppose. As a metalhead i was pleasantly surprised. It vibes wondrously well with the rest of the album.
