So As We Fall actually takes place directly in the middle of a short story you can find on the League website. The two men at the beginning are a couple, and I believe they were visiting the injured one's family when his village was attacked and he ended up getting a few arrows in the back. The well/pool they were moving toward in the beginning was famous for the magic power it emitted, which the village used to heal, among other things. However, they were all warned against actually entering it. The injured man's husband decided to break that rule in his desperation, which turned out to be a pretty bad idea. The well was actually a prison for one of the Darkin, Varus. The spirit-thing that appears from the injured man (after they get grabbed by the wall of arms) was Varus, using some of what remained of his life force to manifest. The moment where he and the uninjured man were mirroring eachother was actually Varus offering him a deal. The injured man's body was too far gone, so Varus said he could put his soul into the uninjured man's body, where they'd both share control of it. Uninjured guy accepted, and the process begins. The injured man actually refuses at the end, because he knows Varus is tricking them, but the deal was already made and he didn't get a say. Varus pulled out his soul and shot it into Uninjured man, then slipped into the body alongside him. Basically what we've ended up with is three souls inside one body (originally Uninjured man's), which got transformed by Varus's power. Varus thought he'd be able to take full control of it, but he underestimated the other guys. They're constantly wrestling control away from him and annoying the hell out of him.

I'll just add, for context, (and hopefully i get things right) that darkins are immortal warrior from old shurima that turned bad after the fall of their empire, and got their soul imprisoned in their weapons. Some manage to get out through the bodies of others. The ones I know are Varus with his bow, Aatrox with his sword and Rhaast who's trying to take over Kayn through his scythe.

If I remember this correctly, Varus just needed flesh. The well was being guarded by the 2. The healing powers were only rumoured. And it was forbidden to enter the well. The clan didn't actually know why they were suppose to guard the well.

Varus is a Darkin. A Darkin typically is a type of ascended (a god warrior pretty much) which did some bad stuff and were imprisoned in their weapon as punishment (they are conscious inside the weapon the entire time so it’s like a very long imprisonment), usually they have two a’s in the name but Varus is the exception and there are voicelines in game referencing this. The two other Darkin (known by us) in the league universe are Rhaast (trapped in a scythe) and Aatrox (trapped in a sword). What happens is that a mortal host attempts to wield the weapon, and the wielder obtains the powers of the Darkin but the Darkin takes over the mind and body of the mortal over time. Shieda Kayn currently wields the Darkin Rhaast, and battles the Darkin for control. Varus is 3 guys in one body. Kai and Valmar were Ionian lovers, when one of them was mortally injured and taken to the fountain/pool in the video by the other. The Darkin Varus is inside this pool and merges with Valmar and Kai to create the physical embodiment of Varus you see at the end of the video.

There are two comics, one prior and another after the cinematic. I don't remember the history that clear, but the archer is from Ionia and he is a kind of hunter from a clan that guards that weird well even when they don't know what are they guarding. He met the other guy and became boyfriends, when they returned to Ionia Noxus attacked so the boyfriend got hurt with multiple arrows. The thing is that the guy that is dying is very peaceful while the Ionian other is a bit chaotic, so they balance each other. The video represents the Ionian being unable to accept his lover departure, he drops it in the well hoping the water will save him (as the song says) but he didn't knew an ancient weaponlike/alien/creature ("Darkin") was imprisoned in it. The creature first tries to take the body of the wounded guy but as it was dying it decides to merge both. Now they're three minds traped in the body, and the wounded guy has the same function as they had in their relationship, he calms down the Ionian as he used this new power to kill noxians.

Jinx has a voice line in game mocking Vi's song, "She's such a loser, always ready to cry" She says it in the same sort of way its sung. And even says "cha cha cha cha" afterwards mimicking the instrumentals.

Basically, during a battle in Ionia, one of the warriors is desperate to save his partner after he was pretty gravely injured. Going to the sacred temple that is usually forbidden to enter, he tries to save him; not fully understanding what darkness awaits hidden inside. There we have a sealed Darkin, an ancient race who basically tried to end the world previously. He takes their bodies and merges into one being; the three of them fighting for control over the singular body of Varus.

As we Fall is visually one of my favorite Cinematics. To have some context: Varus is part of a group called Darkin. After the fall of Shurima a bunch of Ascended (the things that Nasus, Renekton and Azir are) got corrupted by a mix of void and having nothing to do (as the empire they were meant to protect had fallen). The Aspect of Twilight (which is now Zoe but used to have a different name and body) gave mortals a way to get rid of the tyranny of these Darkin by sealing them into Weapons. We currently have 3 Darkin (out of 5 iirc) as champions (Varus, Aatrox and Rhaast). They can escape their weapons by taking over the body of people, like Rhaast for example is only in the game as 1 of 2 forms for Kayn. Kayn wields the scythe that Rhaast is imprisoned in and talks with him at the start of each game. At some point in the game Kayn can then become Shadow Assassin which is Kayn who has defeated the Darkin and taken over his powers or Rhaast, the Darkin who has then taken over his body. Varus was sealed in a bow and but at the bottom of the well shown in As We Fall. He then takes the body of both of archers of the couple and merged them for his body.

Fair to say, you guys should react to Bel'Veth's cinematic, the newest champ (160th champion), has not only her in it, but also Kai'sa looking yummy as usual (Ange will appreciate😂), and it takes place in the Void, which I think it's the first time we actually get to see what's it like inside the Void in a cinematic, and it's both really pretty and terrifying at the same time, love it😍

@@bynflew8552 no, it's just inside the Void, I had a look at Bel'Veth's short story called "pinwheel" on Universe (awesome story btw). It takes place right after the cinematic, and at the end it's explained that Kai'sa flies out of one of the many tunnels to escape Bel'Veth and "all the things devoured by the void come here". Point is, it's clearly explained that the place is the heart of the Void, not a city on the surface

There’s a vintage Easter egg, it’s Lissandras speech, in 2 minutes it explains you the entire Freliord story about Ice borns and the dark spectators. Basically how Freliord was created and where the ice power came from, beautiful thing, only the OG remember it. Yous would be amazed by it for sure!

If you all want to experience a new champion and see how one releases, as *we* the league players also experience, go watch all the recent league of legends trailers for Bel'Veth, the new Void champion (with guest appearances from a few other champs including Kai'sa) Edit: Also, when the Vi login screen became a thing and was the first super successful song to many old players, middle school me sat at the login screen, listening to this song for 30 minutes before playing, it was that impactful. RIP to login screens :(

I just wanted to say thank you and kudos for seeing that video and not having any context you did say couple. I know probably most dont do it on purpose but hearing people call them freinds, or brothers in arms or anything but a couple (cause their mind probably cant understand love between same sex people?) is refreshing.

I think the goons work for Urgot. The first time they where shown as far as I remember was in the Warriors 2020 cinematic, when they released Urgot. Since then Riot reused them in multiple cinematics, I don't know if that means that they all work for Urgot or if they are just supposed to be generic Zaun goons.

I highly recommend to watch "This is war", it is league of legends rapping and singing collab between youtubers, as they voice champions. It is nicely done and super fun.

I kinda love how they pick almost random singers for songs, and it turns out perfect, like the original vocalist for Get Jinxed, is a lady from a band called Djerv, a Norwegian metal vocalist, she's even got guest vocals in a Dimmu Borgir song, and when ya see her in some music videos... she kinda has Jinx energy.

I don`t know if you would like but there is "rap battle" style music made by Flaconshield - This is War ( about 8 of them) . Not made by Riot but quite enjoable to listen. And i think you might enjoy it..

Varus is the guy at the end. He's what's known as a Darkin. These beings are tied to their weapons, like symbiotes and fought with the Ascended against the Void. After the war agaisnt the void, many of the Darkin were sealed away. Varus was released by two Ionian hunters/lovers during the Noxian invasion. Their souls were overtaken, preserved, and combined by Varus. The champion Kayn wields the Darkin, Rhast. I'm verybhappy ya'll watched some Nikki Taylor and Lunity. They're an amazing duo. Check out their cover of Take Over with Badministrator.

Varus is one of the strongest species in Runeterra so yes he is definitely elite... a species that also learned bloodmagic and other sorts of powers, but all these Darkin's are just pieces to what they once were. And all of them have possesed unknowing fools that picked up their original weapons where they are trapped inside, Rhaast being the scythe that possesed Kayn, Aatrox is the sword with the heart inside and he just posseses everyone he comes across and here is Varus who are 2 brothers or lovers. Riot has recently released the 4th Darkin which is inside a dagger.

Love y'all so much, ik people will comment about Bel'veth Cinematic. I will say hold off on that, there's a chance that when the void event drop more Cinematic will also drop.

I really like the Varus backstory and video. My favorite detail: the dying man is at peace, in his head is a nice memory of hunting a deer and natural beauty. His lover's head is filled with the battle that just happened. One can't let go and is filled with anger and regret, the other is willing to die remembering the good times. Those two personalities and the Darkin Varus are what make up the final form. Darkin evil, good and peace-seeking human, and angry punish Noxus human.

I would LOVE to see you react to races and clans, like the Darkin shown here, or how aspects/celestials work.

The This is War series by Falconshield is a fun batch of League of Legends cyphers that were organized by fans and they grabbed some of the League voice actors for parts as well as talents like Nicki Taylor for their songs. Highly recommended if you need more League music/rap.

I remember being 14 years old, a baby league player, seeing and listening to Here Comes Vi, I instantly fell in love with the character, and have been maining her ever since.

I was in stitches with the comment, and I'll paraphrase here, "It's like old school punk. Its like early 2000s . . ." Genuinely hilarious.

Have you seen the league parody songs by Instalok? There are a bunch of them for champions and funnies about game play. One for Ekko is called turn back time. One for jinx is called kill and run. There are a lot of them and they are so good. They also explain abilities in the lyrics at times

First of all, I love your content and reactions of all kinds, I'm a big fan. and second, varus is a "darkin" the darkin were very powerful creatures in the ancient times of runeterra and the celestial aspects like: zoe, taric, diana, leona, etc. They gave humans the ability to "enclose" these powerful entities in weapons, there are other darkin like Aatrox (sword), Rhaast (scythe) who are also darkins and these are released and occupy the body of the person who released them to be themselves again, so what we see in the video of varus, is the representation of how the demon does not deal with two people at the same time and destroys and merges their bodies to create 1, in short, varus is a darkin and is the Combination of a "demon" and two more men, the lore of the darkin is too interesting if this story calls your attention a little. sorry for my english is not my mother tongue ajajajajaj

definitely. Plus there are more than 10 more project skins that are not in the cinematics but similar to the cinematics (different characters but not in the same cinematic). I think your Patreon members should arrange them too. Otherwise, you will only be able to see 3 cinematics and only 10 champions in it.

Well... technically speaking... Varus is the bow................ Varus is a Darkin Darkin were ascended (not sure how to translate that from french) from shurima (just like Azir, Shurima's last emperor, that you've met in Sivir's video (Azir -> the bird head guy with a deep voice)) but some of them, for multiple reason, wanted to be stronger and used blood magic, and became the Darkin, Dangerous people with a serious bloodlust for this, they've been sentenced to eternal damnation into their own weapon, so that they would never walk on earth and be a danger again there was a lot of darkin but only 5 survived (as far as we know) and have been locked and we actually know 3 of them Aatrox - locked in his sword, a human has found the sword and Aatrox has taken control over this human and is now alive Rhaast - Locked in his scythe (Handled by kayn, they're both mentally fighting to control kayn's body and gain each others power, in League of Legends you can choose who wins) Varus - Locked in his bow Varus bow was in a temple in Ionia When Noxus attacked Ionia, the temple guards tried to stop the Noxians from entering the temple as no one was allowed to get close to the well where varus was thrown but they failed The couple (Valmar and Kai) we can see in the video were guards and one of them, Kai, was dying Valmar decided to bring Kai, so maybe the temple magic could save his love but instead they've found Varus what you can see after their fall is technically a description of Varus Varus was a vile torturer who would hurt and break people's mind and body until he decided he had enough fun and would end them with an arrow in the video we can see Valmar and Kai's memories but each time one of them is killed or is exploded until he shoots one in the heart, take the arrow back and shoots the other Their body is decomposed to create Varus body so he could walk again but something's wrong Varus isn't fully in control the last part before we see varus emerge from the well there is two important scene in the first one we can see Valmar and Kai holding each others hand , their forehead is exploded, and Valmar and Kai are walking on a bridge coming out of their giant forehead (it makes sense i promise) and the next scene was when Valmar and Kai's body/sould were merging with Varus sould in the middle the explanations of those two scenes is simple There is one body, Varus body but there is 3 souls/mind in it Varus is back in his body and wants to hunt those who imprisonned him and killed his kind But Valmar and Kai are here, mentally fighting to keep the body's control and stop him from destroying everything and everyone

Long ago, Shurima was at war with Icatha (which was on the border between the real world and the Void). As Icatha turned to the Void for power to win the war, Shurima made the Ascended who were demi-god/aspect level warriors (such as Nasus and Renekton, amongst others). When Azir, the Emperor of Shurima was died at his Ascension ceremony, the empire fell apart. Some of the Ascended turned to blood magic and became corrupted due to feeling purposeless, betrayed and forgotten by the world they once swore to protect to which they gave their mortal lives to fight for. These corrupted Ascended became the Darkin...and thus the Darkin War began. The predecessor to the current Aspect of Twilight, Zoe, taught humans magic that would bind the Darkin to their weapons so that they could never assume their full Darkin forms. To this day, only 3 Darkin weapons are known...Aatrox, who resides in a sword, Rhaast, who resides in Kayn's scythe, and finally Varus, who resides in a bow.

Guys I just came from another reaction video that wasn't vibing very well with me and can I just say I really appreciate channels like this that make reactions engaging to watch and add something to it instead of just watching with a blank face. Also I predict that next video you will at some point say "guys please stop trying to explain the Darkin situation" it's a LOT to keep track of on top of everything else in the LoL universe :') I do love Varus and his backstory but I wish there was a more clear official Riot video showing his lore, but As We Fall is still a dope art piece.

Varus prefer Varus first story, he was in charge to protect the pit of corruption when the Noxian army invaded Ionia, he fullfilled his mission but all her family was murdered by the Noxians, while he was protecting the pit, he blame himself because was not there to protect them when they needed him, so with the remorse of lost his family because he chose protect the pit, he swore slaughter every Noxian but he had no enough power, then he went to the corruption pit and let it to consum him, this way he would have the power to achive his revenge. My favorite quote from him was something like : "Fear a man who has nothing to lose"

League just dropped a super short cinematic called All That Will Ever Be. Its less than 2 minutes and takes place after The Call when Kai'Sa lures Rek'Sai back down the Void hole. Maaaybe you can throw that into your next reaction? =D There's actually 2 Teasers that came out just before it to introduce the new character. Maybe can watch those as well. Again, super short.

This is definitely a season 2 or 3 Vi when she’s fully all-in with being a Piltover Encforcer, if they choose to take the lore in that direction. You should also listen to all of her voice lines and special interactions in-game. Yeah, it's worth noting that for a long time Vi's whole character was just being the 80s style "lone wolf/loose cannon" cop, and as such she had a LOT of jokes about being a perpetrator of police brutality, hence one of the early lines in Here Comes Vi: "roughing up your friends is the law". Two of her abilities needed to be renamed in the midst of Black Lives Matter protests: "excessive force" to "relentless force" and "assault and battery" to "cease and desist". Needless to say, old Vi was everything Arcane Vi was hates

@@DNeonLamp And honestly, good on them for changing it. Although I can still see Vi thinking she's doing good while only making the situation worse, that's kind of her modus operandi in Arcane.

You guys should also react to Seraphine's theme!

The settings you see in As We Fall are... honestly more abstract than anything else. The beginning and end show things that are actually happening, everything in the middle is more symbolic of the fusion.

I would really really heavily reccomend that you guys listen/react to some newer champion themes, if you enjoyed Vi's you'll LOVE Rell's, and a few personal favorites are Seraphine's and Aphelios' themes, the riot team CRUSHED it

I hope you will catch up missing skins they are worth your precious time and you really need to see new Bel'Veth's cinematic the quality is so epic it came up like yesterday. And since they included "Get jinxed" in season 1 of Arcane it is possible that "here comes Vi" can appear at some point of season 2 imagine hearing that when she is doing some training with her gauntlets or starts to work with Caitlyn on a case of some sort as a new member of enforcers.

It's funny that you thought As We Fall is a recent one considering it's an oldie haha As We Fall cinematic is basically a story about a couple wherein the other persin is about to die. And in an act of desperation the other person submerged his loved one to a magical pool without knowing Varus is residing in the pool. The couple and Varus are now merged in one body - basically three souls in one body.

Nicki Taylor is great! she is a league streamer on twitch and very funny (so is Lunity, though she streams more music/variety than league these days, the two of them are good friends). she also sang one of the earliest Worlds songs, Worlds Collide, which gets overlooked a lot but is great in its own right too. I'm not sure if you would've heard it yet anywhere, but she's a long standing member of the community so it's possible you've seen her show up somewhere, but not sure where if so. But the best part? Nicki Taylor, the singer of Here Comes Vi, is a Jinx main in league of legends q;

Ah right, I remembered that you guys have a reaction to the opening ceremonies for worlds 2014-2016 that didnt go up on the channel, Worlds Collide was in 2015 so thats where you would have heard Nicki before ^^ sadly there was no live performance that year
