According to the Oníṣẹ̀ṣe, the word 'Ìṣẹ̀ṣe' simply means "Ìpilẹ̀ṣẹ̀ tabi Orísun" in Yorùbá. In English "Ìṣẹ̀ṣe" simply means "Source, Fountain, or the Beginning."
Ìṣẹ̀ṣe divinely represent one's father, mother, Orí (fate/destiny) and Ikin-Ifá as one's source. Ìṣẹ̀ṣe is a Yorùbá Indigenous Religion comprising of all sphere of Yorùbá indigenous spiritual doctrines, tenets, ethics, and cultural practices.
Ìṣẹ̀ṣe is a Yorùbá word which means one's source and encompassing religiosity, spirituality, ancestral belief and worship, traditions and cultural practices, behaviour, norms, and coexistence of Yorùbá in today's Nigeria.
It is through this same Ìṣẹ̀ṣe that these primordial Divinities (Irúnmọlẹ̀ and Òrìṣà) and deified ancestors (Egúngún/àwọn Aláṣekù) used to offer worship to Olódùmarè during their time.
