Aquascaping Master Skill Series 1: Making Mountains in Nano Aquarium (Hardscape Demonstration)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Welcome to the Master Skills series-- new KZread series I am making with supply support from Ultum Nature Systems. In this series I'll be demonstrating different skill sets from past aquascapes, recreated in nano aquarium re-creates. This first scape will be featuring my 2023 "Echoes of the Pali" which was entered in ADA IAPLC. Series will be primarily focused on hardscape design (driftwood and stone arrangement), but will cover some other related skillsets of aquascaping like design planning.
Have a recommendation for which past layout to re-create next? Please leave a comment!

An interesting method to prevent reflections with black adhesive tapes. I personally use a black filter sponge, but I think tape may be better in some situations. The mud and silicone technique, man, that's another level - the structure looks like it's in one piece. Amazing, thanks for sharing your techniques!✌

This was the most helpful und informative video for me about craftmanship & techniques in aquascaping for a long time, especially because I alrdy got a photographic visual background - but lack some practical skills with the materials. But I also discovered over time, I'm not that focused nor committed to aquascaping in (optical) excellences. A well looking community tank with healthy fish & plants is usually good enough for me - but I like trying new techniques and little challenges ;)

Interesting Steve, and thanks for the effort put on the video. One question I have is in the final step when you added thin cynocrylate glue to the hardened puddy. The puddy shows many "cracks" from drying, which seem to not to be there after the thin glue is added on top. Is the glue simply filling them or you dd something on top of the glue? Thanks in advance!

  • @SteveScapesYT

no worries! Assuming you do cover all "mud" surfaces with super glue, should all cure into a nice hard surface. My fish did great in this tank. Remember, all materials used are ones that we normally use in an aquascape. Again, be triple sure to use aquarium safe silicone though.

Do you use a special kind of super glue for this? I've found that regular "KRazy Glue" softens and comes loose with prolonged exposure to water. The couple of times I've glued my fingers together with Krazy Glue actually I was able to unstick it with warm soapy water.
