yeah sure how well plants/crops do in water so jel you tank and plants awesome i got like 6 tanks set up just cos guppy breed like no trm lol if you anywhere near hartlepool so of those cutting be handy cant wait to see what else you make if i get to point where i can aqurascape even 10% of your skill i have some nice tanks. soz for ramble have you ever tryed using a compost bag can get garden since cheaper the substrate i was thinking of trying at some point siv out any food chips put on some gravel then maybe thinker layer of sand then normal to keep all in and put plenty of plants in maybe no fish for month until foot full grow in what would you think could it work?

@@deisyvalencia9565 hello! The black soil used in between the big grey rocks is crushed lava rocks for more surface are to allow bacteria to grow. And the white soil is regular play sand from ADI. Hope this helps:)

I really like how MD gets right to it, without YAPPING for 30-40 minutes. He also has allot of experience, ideas , and expertise! Tends to carry on when the subject of plants comes up!!!!

Who the hell can dislike this vid? It is a peaceful hobby.

Now when I hear anyone say they want a peace lily with their betta in a vase I’m showing them this video because it can obviously be done but give the betta the proper space.

I built my own version after seeing this. It's doing amazing 3 months later - all new 'water roots' after lots of the original ones died off. Easiest of all my tanks to keep! (although I kept it cold water with minnows and not a betta).

@@annedg I don't use a siphon with this one, so just scoop water out with a small bucket. It hasn't ever grown algae at all. And only had to wipe the front of the glass once, despite it being set up for 3 months! Literally the easiest of my 5 tanks to clean and maintain. And I also get the most compliments on this one. Haha.

You’re an awesome designer. That tank would look great in anyone’s home and it’s a beautiful home for that beta. I remember my first aquarium as a kid , and I had a red beta with swordtails and Angel fish. My swordfish had babies the very first day I had them, and the beta hunted every last one of them😯 I grew very attached to that little fish because I had to rescue him a few times off the floor . I guess we didn’t have a top at first. That was quite an adventure for a little boy(:

Just stunning. 😢 Warms my heart each and every time I see a beta going to a healthy, spacious, CYCLED home. A beta rescued from an Asian dollar store was my intro into the hobby, and I learned so much from that exper. We wanted to do everything right so, despite him being the only fish in my Fluval tank, I bought an API water kit, Prime conditioner, etc. And continued to read, and read, scour forums, etc. And one day I hope to finally try my hand at a low tech planted tank. My bettas have since passed, but I will always hold.a.soft I spot for.them.

I have a severe house plant addiction, and I have two fish tanks a neighbor gave me that I've been wanting to grow plants out of and have a fish or two in. This channel is the best discovery ever, it's literally given me everything I needed to know that I couldn't find anywhere else. I have two peace lillies, one from each grandparents funeral. Now I finally know how to utilize my fish tanks. Thank you so much for these tutorials 🖤

My wife loves peace lillies and I'm soon to do a 4 foot tank in our living room. Watching your channel is great inspiration for us, thanks

This is one of my all time favorite tanks-ever! I have Peace Lilies from my late Mother, and the wood sculpture pieces from my late Husband. It will be a fitting tribute to both- thanks to you!❤😊

That betta might be even happier without the external filter. Just still water and natural riparian filtration! It's a gorgeous tank.

I still don't understand why you don't get support from you tube but surely I know that you will become the famous aquascaper in the future all over the world.god bless you.🙂

Man I have been debating doing this with a couple of my house plants and a new betta and this pushed me over the edge. Mts here I come.

I'm a beginner and want to start a new tank like this. I don't have a tank that's already cycled. How do you cycle a tank with brand new filters?

My friend this is beautiful! Couple years ago I used to build my own aquariums from scratch, had 6 in the apartment where I lived. All of them planted. Then I traveled to another country to star over my life. This is the kind of video you get inspired to go back to this amazing hobby. Thank you for that. 😃

How unbelievably beautiful ! This is the best Zen piece I've seen. It's like a slice of life on the riverbank. The best of both worlds , Lily plant on top of the water and a beautiful underwater haven !! Love it !!

Love how laid back that fish is! Each time you put him into a new tank he doesn't even hide or go "pale". Have you ever thought of breeding bettas? I've kept males and females, but never together. Would be so cool to see them build a foam nest and guarding the eggs and all..

Well I started out with houseplants during lockdown - bought a fish tank last month and will deffo be giving this a go whenever I find time 🤩

I have organic potting soil in my 8 year established, heavily planted, 75 gallon tank. The water is clean and plants thriving. I've never used ferts.

Yes! I have a 12 year dirted low tech 75 gallon tank and I'll never go back to the traditional method. So much more beautiful and easier to care for. His aqua scapes make me want to redesign though.

I have a houseplant obsession and just got a small tank for Christmas looking to combine the two. This was perfect.

I've been considering building my own tank for a while, and was a bit concerned that it's only going to be 10" in height. But here you are with 8" so I feel much more confident now!

This is the video that started it all for me. Expanded my understanding of what's possible and engaged my creativity in this hobby. Thank you md.

I love love love your discus! I had a 49 long years ago and I had 3 or 4 with a black ghost knife fish and a gold veil tail angel who thought he was a discus too. SO he schooled with his cousins. 20 yrs ago. I miss that tank. So much. I can't care for a tank now....I have a chronic pain condition. Anyway thanx so much. You are really talented.

Good point about a heater. Most tropical fish tanks if kept in a heated room don't require an aquarium heater. I turned mine off about a year ago and the fish have been fine. Some fish like discus do require a higher temp so please check fish requirements before turning off your heater. Ever see heater in tanks of most aquarium shops?

haha. No vlogmas. Everyday would probably mean the quality would suffer in terms of interesting content. At some point i'd like to vlog every day but I think that will be in the next studio when I have way more tanks with unlimited things going on a people helping me haha. So format for me is vlog mon, wed, fri and build video on a saturday.

i had no idea peace lillies could live submerged but mine is always getting thirsty and flopping over so i guess it makes sense

While they like being tight in their pot, if it gets thirsty ridiculously fast, you may consider upgrading its pot juuuuust a bit. Sometimes it just doesn't have enough soil left to keep water. If it's not tight, give it a shower (or like submerge the container) for 10/15 minutes in lukewarm water once a week. ♥️

Trust me. If u really want to do this thing u must be always stay at home. If u are busy or hard worker like me, u know what it is the end of the plant n fish Aquascape is not necessary beautiful landscape but intense maintenance Tks for the vid

When a betta has a better room than u lol

I have a very similar setup that is around 1 year old. The Lily does great on this condition, the roots look amazing when they start growing and my betta loves to hide between them. With time, you can even remove the Anubias and let the Lily roots take over But, with your lighting configuration, the Lily will grow twisted to the light side, and will look quite ugly and may even become unstable and unroot itself. I strongly suggest to put another light on the other side, or put it centered above the Lily. I made the mistake to put only one centered lamp and my Lily on the corner of the tank, and now my Lily looks strange and unhealthy...

the other side has a huge light from another aquarium. I just kept it off for the video as it was too much. The two should hopefully balance out but if not I will add another desk lamp :)

My father in law recently passed...although we are so very grateful for everyone that sent arrangements, we literally ended up with 70 peace Lilly plants 😬😳 so I'm looking for different things to do with them 😂
