It's so comforting to see someone so experienced using similar budget lights, and using similar techniques! I keep my planted tank lights on for 12-14 hours and I get great growth and color in my low-tech tanks!

Squeezing that filter pad in the tank like you did is a great way to jumpstart a cycle. I've done the same before

The fact it looks simple doesn't makes it look less beautyful

I love how this tank looks! I have a 3 gallon cube with mixed color shrimp in my home. I call it my Skittles tank.

I have the black Discus hoodie, and I love it! I would definitely order 1 size larger than you think you'll need though. The large was quite tight on me, I'm 6 ft 2 and was 210lbs at the time. Now that I'm down to 186 it fits much better, but still a little snug for my taste. Still wear it all the time though! 😁

Thanks for all the info. Just got a nano tank, and want to attempt to do a no co2/filter/heater plant eco-system I seen at my local fish store. Just picked up the light you mentioned for my nano. 🎉

Love that Taxyphillium barbeiri moss MD, it looks great. What a coincidence aswell. I use that Hidom HOB & actually have the same sponge media in it🤣

You should try a saltwater reef. You could probably make a beautiful ecosystem and it’s a fun challenge. I think a lot of people would love to see this. Keep up the good work!

My shrimp are red and blue mixed, and I get some really pretty blue shrimp with pink stripes down their back! I also just want a lot of happy shrimp, not the most pretty. I just think they are neat!

I do the same with my HOBs, but also put some small bits of Biohome media for bacteria in the section where the water wells up round the inlet.

Almost 2 years i stop fishing,and then now i settle my self i came back to setup again a planted tank and the 1st thing i came into my mind is to watch MDfish tank tutorial!😂

Was wondering where you bought the three filter media sponges that you cut up. Bet that is a time and money saver to buy in bulk. Currently setting up a river bed tank with mazanita wood and dark colored substrates. Keep up the amazing work!

Hey MD, I’m currently obsessed with your videos so keep up the great work! - How do you manage to grow moss so well? I always seem to struggle to get it growing as thick and vibrant as that, but I think my BN plec is too rough when rasping the wood around the moss. Any suggestions?

I got a glass shrimp feeding dish but my 8 Cory’s love it. They actually all pile in and sleep in it. So when I try to feed my shrimp, the Cory’s gobble up all the food. Hoping the shrimp get a bit more pushy once they realize that’s where the treats are.

For easy paint removal, soak the surface with soapy water first and let it sit for a few minutes. I discovered this method by accident as in " I didn't want the paint to peel off the back, I just wanted to wash the tank".

Inert means it doesn't affect the water parameters.

MD please make a true cherry barb tank. Those aren’t cherry barbs they are albino Rosey barbs cherry barbs have an even more vibrant color and would look absolutely incredible in one of your builds... I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!!!

already experienced plast DIP to the back of the aquarium. it is easy to remove for future projects.

You don't really need all three foams in a small hob. Coarse and medium grade will do just fine. Or do medium and fine. Either way it's better to have two foams then three. All three foams block flow of water and even at the start of the setup you have a lot of bypass. I would use two foams and leave dimples on for greater contact surface area.

What do you use for plant weights? Are they ceramic?

Love the shrimps, love the tank and I could even do that planting. Had to fast forward through the scraping the back noise!! Hate to be picky but seeing that propping white stone is annoying!!

How is the maintenance on the tank? Do you need to change the water regularly and how many times a day you feed the shrimp?

Hey man, i just wanna ask if it is okay to put a shrimp tank like that in my porch (a spot where the sunlight don't directly hit) without aquarium lights?

as somebody thinking of getting shrimp and getting nervous about all the videos tutorialising for a noobins like me, i think it's refreshing to see you superglue your plants to the wood when all the others give me the impression that if i cough on the tank in the wrong light i might kill all my future shrimp.

Damn how do you get your Java moss to look so fresh? Mine is dark and isn't growing at all. I give it 8 hours of light, but haven't tried co2 yet
