    Edited: 2024-1-31. TTArtisan no longer includes the rear ND filter with their 7.5mm fisheye lens A multi lenses comparison review like this takes quite a bit more time for me to do, but do you like this kind of videos and want me to do more? And What is your favourite fisheye lens?

    I love these videos! Before buying these types of lenses it is hard to find the differences in all of their similarities. Thank you for your thorough reviews of this nature! They’re really helpful. The TTArtisan fisheye is supposed to be delivered to me today :) looking forward to using it even more now after watching this

    I am going through a review period on the build up to potentially buying a fish eye lens. The 7 Artisans had been my previous favourite, but having seen the TTArtisan that is swinging it for me. On lens spec alone I might still have picked the 7, but the fact that the TT has an ND filter is a MASSIVE bonus to me, as I like long exposure shots and have never figured a way to attach any kind of filter to a non standard lens front. I see there is a slightly narrower fov, but I still think the TTArtisan will most likely win out for me. Great review, thank you for your time!

    Congrats for this excellent, comprehensive and very rigorous review. I really use the 7artisans 7.5 mm F2.8 a lot on my canon eos M100 and it gave me beautiful results. Strangely enough my copy of the lens has a F22 (maybe this is another generation of the lens) and not F16 minimum aperture and this is really of importance to control the amount of light when you are facing the sun at sunset or at the golden hour and generating sunstars. Another problem I encountered with the 7artisan fisheye is a very strong and asymetrical vigneting effect appearing only when using the highest shutter speeds (1/4000). I don't know if this only due to this fisheye lens or if this is some weird interaction between the lens and the M100. It can be used very creatively but it is a nuisance in most cases. I have been using long exposure photography recently and have needed to add a 3 stop slim filter in addition to a ND1000 to explore the full range of exposure values for pictures of the ocean on rocks. My guess is that ND1000 won't be enough with the TTartisan at F11. Can you pile these filters up at the rear of the lens? i reallly enjoy that you verify the field of view and light transmittance of the lenses. You are the only one who is doing this and I feel that it is really useful. I would also suggest to look at color rendition...

  • @TheRealRichardWong

    Thank you for watching Steven! Yes the 7Artisans i used in this review is the version II. I've just updated my title to make it more clear which has f/16 minimum aperture. No you cannot pile the rear filters on the TTArtisan, only one at a time, and it only comes with a ND1000 as well for the retail version. Thanks for the suggestion re colour rendition. i would try to include that in my future comparison reviews.

    7Artisans Mk.II has the best corner sharpness and widest FOV. And when I saw one in the Lazada sale for only US$65 equivalent, I bought one. At that price, it's a bargain! Ps. I think it would have been instructive to tell us what impact the ND filter in the TTArtisans lens had on colour rendition, sharpness and IQ.

    A nice review, and very timely for me, personally. Budget lenses don't often get the rigorous testing they deserve, and I appreciate the effort. I currently use the 7Artisans 7.5 mm F\2.8 on a Canon M6 II for astrophotography. The results are quiet decent for aurorae or Milky Way shots, but I've just upgraded to the Canon R7, and I'm looking for something similar for the RF mount. I am not sure if these lenses are available for RF yet, so I guess I need to be patient..

    I purchased the TTArtisan 7.5, and used it a lot in a month, but decided there HAD to be Something Better than This! The Actual Lens I got, was not Flawed in any way, it just did not seem Sharp Enough to me at all. I was used to the Very Sharp Rokinon 12mm F2 lens that I had been using for a year or so. So I bought the 7Artisans 7.5mm, and had no problem selling the TTArtisan on eBay for what I had paid for it. I was going to buy the Rokinon 8mm f3.5, but for some reason the Sony E-mount version of this lens is Huge, in comparison to the TTArtisan 7.5, so I went with the 7Artisans 7.5... I have the Same "Mark II" version as in this Video. I am very Happy with the Results I get from the 7Artisans especially after I shot many of the Same Locations I had shot before, using the TTArtisan lens. The 7Artisans did a Much Better Job. I am reading so many Comments here, and to me it seems that so many people are Confused as to what This lens IS... It is a "Fish Eye" Lens, that is Purposely Made to give you that Distorted Perspective... it is Not just a "Wide Angle Lens". I do not know if Any of you have ever used a 35mm Film Camera or not, but if you did, you would know that the "Normal" Lens, that gives you an image that is about the same as it looks when Not looking through the camera, is a 50mm Lens. Anything Less than that 50mm Lens, is going Wider ... so 35mm is Slightly Wide Angle, 28mm is the Average "Wide Angle". Wider than 28mm you are getting pretty wide, and the lenses start getting more expensive. A 20mm Lens was considered "Ultra-Wide". So this is the Same if you are using a Full Frame Digital, with Lenses that are made for that Full Frame Sensor. With an APS-C Sensor Digital, most people got an 18-55mm Kit Lens with that camera. Most APS-C Sensor Cameras have a 1.5x Conversion Ratio, and Since the Lenses are given the Rating of a 35mm Film, of Full Frame Digital, that 18-55mm Lens, is actually a 27mm to 82.5mm lens. So the 18mm end of that zoom is "wide angle" and the 55mm end of that zoom, is getting into "Portrait" range... To get an actual 18mm "Wide Angel" of view on an APS-C Camera, (which is Very Wide on any Film Camera or Full Frame Digital) ... You need to buy a 12mm "Ultra Wide Angle" lens, like the Rokinon / Samyang 12.mm F2.0. That 12mm Lens, is Really Very Wide Angle, to go to something like the 7.5mm is almost Twice as Wide... like Super Wide! But realize it is MADE that way On Purpose... the Perspective Distortion it gives you is On Purpose, for You to be able to use that "Tool" to have a Variety of Creative Applications, and for sure "Stand Out" Photos. So Why someone would use "Software" to "De-Fish" the Fish Eye is Beyond Me... when the Whole Point of Using a "Fish Eye Lens", is to Create that "Distorted Perspective"... Just use a 12mm Lens if you just want Very Wide Angle Photos, without Fish Eye Look. :>)

    Which of these lenses do you think would be best for handheld low light video on a Micro 4/3 camera? Is the weight difference small enough that it won’t matter for longer shoots, or is it pretty noticeable over time? I plan to defish in DaVinci Resolve, so I am also concerned that corner sharpness could be an issue if it is exaggerated by the lens correction. Hopefully the extra crop factor will help reduce this, but do you think it would make the 7Artisan lens better, even in low light?

  • @TheRealRichardWong

    @TheRealRichardWong

    2 жыл бұрын

    The weight difference is quite small i don't think it would really matter in real life. For low light, the TTartisan would be the best because it has a 1 stop advtantage. Re- defish for video, sorry i don't have too much comment.

    Nice review. I suppose TTartisan is the most expensive one but I would still take it if I were using ff, one extra stop can make a big difference in some situations. 7artisan iq seems a tiny bit better than Pergear, but Pergear really looks good. How does this (ttartisan 7.5mm f2.0) compare with the ttartisan 11mm f2.8? Both are around the same focal length on a FF camera but going into apsc mode means I lose some megapixels with the 7.5m f2.0. I use an A7IV btw.

    Hi Andrew, sorry i have not tested the TTArtisan 11mm fisheye yet. But if both lenses are used on a Full frame lens, the 7.5 would give you circular image while the 11mm is a diagonal fisheye so the image would look quite different

    Nice review! just few things to mention on TTartisan: 1) it's a 10mm fisheye according to PTgui software and you have a clear visual confirmation comparing to the other 2 lenses. 2) the ND filter creates double images or ghostings around contrasted areas. On your photo is slightly visibile on the first pole on the right; if you do the same test under daylight, the ghosting will be more visible (around roofs, poles or even trees) and image is unuseable. 3) mechanically the lens aperture can close past of F11, i think F16 or even F22 but TTartisan decided to stop at F11...good choice since diffraction would kill the sharpness; sweet spot is F8 4) my lens has worse quality on the right side of the pictures and the aperture ring has the engraving slightly misaligned
