    Great video! I have a unit installed with the fan pack directly above the humidifier (just a couple inches above so no tee for condensate to trickle back to) and the system spits condensate out all over the floor. Now I believe I see what is happening.. so I will be taking that fan pack down and relocating it and incorporating the drip tee and trap. Thanks for this info!

    Thanks for sharing. I was planning on installing the fan pack as you have described without the drip tee and trap. Were you able to stop the spitting? Does the unit make noise?

    @@lsglass a contractor had this unit installed for us in the lab of a clinic and as I was saying it was spitting water all over. I don't recall if it was really making much noise but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was due to having that mixture of not just steam but also droplets having to blow through that fan and the dispersion assembly in the fan unit. But I ordered the drip leg/tee kit and installed it and it worked great. The lab staff has very impressed and happy no more water spitting all over their computers. I don't work for that hospital anymore so I don't recall the exact procedure I did or much of even what it looks like now.. I'm sure if I scrolled back through a few years of photos I might find pictures of it. Lol. Good luck!

    I own a 1,900 sqft. home is my home too small to have this unit installed. My main reason for choosing this model is that if I use a model 700 I have a tankless water heater and I don’t think it will supply the necessary hot water that is required.

  • @aprilaireco

    @aprilaireco

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you for contacting AprilAire! If you can install the Model 700 on your hot air supply duct, you will not necessarily need hot water and may get sufficient humidity. Otherwise, an AprilAire Steam Humidifier would be a good option which also does not require hot water. If you have any additional questions, we would be happy to assist.

    Steve - The install instructions indicates 'minimum 16" clearance" to the right of the mounted unit for ' electrical access'. . . . When I lay out the unit, , this doesn't seem necessary - can you give some additional insight (I have a narrow / tight install spot unless I modify). Thanks.

    Hi Mike - Thank you for your patience on this. This clearance is needed to access the internal circuit board for wiring and set-up during installation as well as future possible troubleshooting and service work. We have seen many installations in which a steam humidifier has been installed in a cramped location and something as simple as changing a DIP switch or reconnecting a loose wire has required the Model 800 to be removed and then reinstalled. The performance of the Model 800 will not be affected, so if no other location is feasible, then as long as the contractor and homeowner understand that possible service work in the future may be difficult, it should be fine. If you have any additional questions, we would be happy to assist. We can be reached at support@aprilaire.com or by calling 1-800-334-6011 Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. Thanks again for contacting AprilAire!

    I have 3000sf two story home in Delaware. Geothermal heat pump with ECM. House is between tight and average. Trying to install 800 model next week. Trying to size my wiring. I’m doing 240V. The only question I have should I go with 11 amps or 16 amps setting? Thank you!

    Thank you for contacting AprilAire! We would suggest the use of 10-12 gauge wire. If using a 11.5 amp setting, you will want to use a 20 amp breaker and if on 16 amp, you should use a 25 amp breaker. If you have any additional questions, we would be happy to assist.

    @@kastenusa The Model 800 Humidifier will output 23.3 gallons per day of moisture on the 11.5 setting at 240V. On the 16 amp setting at 240V, the unit would create 34.6 gallons per day. If using our controller, the max amount of humidity would be 45%. If using a thermostat or another controller, the limit would be set by that device. If you have any further questions, we would be happy to discuss. Thanks again for contacting AprilAire.

    Thank you for contacting AprilAire! The Model 800 can be used in a downflow application, but we need to be aware of the absorption distance needed. Generally, we recommend 3’ of straight, unchanging ductwork with no sensors, outtakes, intakes, or size changes. @@aprilaireco Thanks for writing back. I have called customer service and they were unable to help because I didn't know how to do an "amp draw". They said all Aprilaire certified HVAC places go through one hour of training every year and should be able to do that, but I've had four out to my place that are listed on your website and they just say that since the unit is hot it must be working and at $150 a visit, I can't keep doing that and I just about could have bought a new unit for the cost of the visits from them. I would be glad to do the training if available.

    @@indyregen Thank you for your additional feedback. We are very sorry for the experience you've had. The AprilAire Model 800 Steam Humidifier is an industrial-grade piece of equipment that can be installed in a variety of applications, all while relying heavily on outside factors for the unit to perform to its full potential. Those factors include electrical input and water conductivity. If it is felt that the unit is underperforming, a preliminary course of action would be to have a water quality test performed. Those results can then be cross referenced with the chart from the installation manual. That manual can be found at this link on page 7: rp.widen.net/content/1aa2yqci3s/pdf/aprilaire-800-series-steam-humidifier-installation-guide-B2210091.pdf?u=5rn8it. nice informative video i have the 800 attached to my trane variable speed. Live in the NE what are the optimal settings to run in terms of fan speed and temp levels. i find sub 20 F outdoors very difficult to hold 35% RH .. (oil heat force air) with 240v and 30amps or 16amps setting . My electric bills in winter are +$300 per month more as result. would like to reduce that but love the comfort levels 35%+. thx

  • @aprilaireco
