April 2024 Reading Wrap-Up!

Freddie assists me in my reviews, some of which are more ornery than they need to be...enjoy!

I’ve enjoyed Elizabeth von Arnim and also stumbled on 2 that I wasn’t familiar with - Father and Adventures of Elizabeth in Rugan. Glad I found these.

Elizabeth and her German Garden is hilarious! 😅 How fascinating about Iris Apfel. I’ve seen her face, but know nothing about. I’m checking into that book. I too have my own style and am JUST getting comfortable with it at almost 44 😅!

It's almost easier to get used to our own style when we're not as young. At least I feel that way.

Oh my gosh, I had no idea that Iris Apfel had passed away! Talk about living under a rock! 🙄 You had a great reading month. 📚 What is it about the Tudors, I can’t seem to get enough! I just ordered Thorns, Lust and Glory by Estelle Paranque from Blackwell’s. Currently reading Erik Larson’s The Demon of Unrest. 🤓 Thanks for sharing, have a great week!

I gave Enchanted April 5 stars bc of how much I enjoyed it. I think it's probably a somewhat realistic portrayal of how 100 years ago the English would've interacted (or not interacted) with Italians, especially working class Italians 😕. I really wanna read Ruth. Freddie's cameos were ADORABLE. I only know about Iris Apfel from you, maybe I'll pick up her book one day, too. She definitely seemed like a fun, vibrant person. She designed some sweet keychains 😉

“Old man yells at cloud.” 😆😂 You crack me up! Your hair looks so pretty, btw! I looove The Enchanted April, I’ve never thought of the fact that they don’t interact much with the Italian people! 😮 Interesting point! Have you seen the film? It’s lovely. 🥰

Thanks! I still need to watch the film. I'm surprised Helena Bonham Carter's not in it...

I’ve heard so many good reviews of The Enchanted April and I really need to pick it up. There is a book titled Father by Eliz. Von Arnim that I’ve also heard raves about. I want to read the Iris Apfel book also. She was definitely an icon. And your hair looks so pretty in this video, but I have to admit to missing your hair clip. I noticed right away it was missing, 💕

Last year Iris Apfel kept popping up on my you tube feed. She was promoting her joyfully colorful designs for Ruggable. Glad to hear you enjoyed “Enchanted April” (for the most part). A friend gave me a copy, I just haven’t gotten to it yet. It’s nice to see Freddy. It’s been a while since he’s been in one of your videos. I hope some day you have an opportunity to visit Italy. It’s a wonderful travel experience.
