I just threw about 7 seeds, hull and all, into a pot and shallowly covered them with dirt. I kept the pot moist and covered it with loose plastic. Two weeks later they started sprouting! I didn't expect any to grow, so I was amazed. They were the sweetest apricots I ever tasted from a neighbors tree in Las Vegas, so I saved the seeds and planted them. Yay!!!

The other day I got some giant apricots in a local market. They were delicious too. I have decided to grow them. My question is will apricot tree produce the fruit from its own core? For example, pears and apples can't. My second question is once it grows up a bit, can I graft it to my 1.5 meter apricot tree that I planted last year? Thanks

Once we’ve arrived at this stage (3-6 inch sapling in a pot) at what point should we consider transplanting to either a bigger pot, or final destination outside? In essence, I’m wondering how long / big it should be before it ends up outside in ground.

It's called Stratification. Stratification is a process of pre-treating seeds in order to simulate natural conditions that seeds would experience in the soil over-winter. Pre-treating seeds helps the seed "break dormancy" and initiate the germination process.

Scarification are techniques gardeners use to artificially replicate natural germination conditions. Scarification puts cracks in the tough exterior of a seed, while stratification mimics winter conditions so plants anticipate the growth of spring. it is a useful tool to soften hard seeds, improve germination and enhance seedling establishment.🌳
