ya gotta pull the laces, do the tongue and also around the seams between boot leather and sole ... then warm them gently with hair dryer so the oil melts into stitching

@@TheDurbinCompound is it bad to leave the excess on the boot or is it just so you don’t get it on your pants
I’m a sheet metal worker. This video is proof that taking care of your work boots can easily extend the life of the leather. Too bad I can’t get them re souled every time I clean my Thorogoods. Nice video. Very helpful.
Got a ton of mink oil for Christmas. Decided to apply them to a pair of leather combat boots I got about a year ago. This video really helped out a lot as I’ve never done this before.
I was stunned when you said you had them for 3 years, very impressive and consistent care 🤙🏻

They have just now started to come apart at the sole.
I've just gotten into reclaiming leather for a hobby. I love restoring leather purses & shoes. My brothers always used Mink Oil on their boots & saddles. I was unsure exactly how to use-thanks so much!! Video was simple & clear. 🤗
You review was straight forward and to the point, best content for boot care!!
Thanks for this info. Bought boots about 2 years ago that just had water seep in because I didn’t oil them. I won’t make that mistake again. Saw different methods on how to oil them but yours is the best. Thank you again.
I always remove the laces and clean those, plus treating the whole tongue of the boot- also capable of leaking
Thank you and thumbs up 👍 That was literally the best vid...well, it was literally the only video I watched on applying mink oil. I bet there's someone out there who's literally never said the word literally before.
I, being young, a little dumb, and inexperienced, may have already ruined my Irish Setters after only owning them for like two months. There are cracks and peels in them from getting concrete dust and slurry all over them and letting them dry without rinsing them. I just cleaned them today for the first time with saddle soap and I plan to buy some mink oil later today. Hopefully I can use them for the rest of the year cuz I paid $155 for them 😅 if not, I know better now and I'll take better care of the next pair I buy.

Yoooooo!!! I have these in black leather glad I found this video. Exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks man doin mine right now your video helped a lot
Got myself some Durango cowboy boots.ink oil. Some rags and a brush. Thanks for the info
i'm a big fan of mink oil. i use the paste like this (the liquid and the spray is an unholy mess). but i use a small horsehair brush because i think it gets the oil really into the leather and the seams and any little cracks/scratches. then i let it dry, 10-20 minutes until it's not wet to the touch, and i go back at it with a horsehair brush again to smooth it out and buff it a little. the stuff is great to darken the color a little, soften the leather, and even increase water resistance. i repeat the mink oil every time i do a deep clean (saddle soap is my favorite). good leather boots can last for ages if you keep them clean and take them in to a cobbler for care when they need to be resoled.
Thank you for the video! Very helpful and informative :)
Great mink oil walk through..thank you!
Awesome man, thanks getting some today. Gonna try some salty fish brand see how it goes
Thank you Brother I buy a new boots n Amazon n I Reid same comments about mink oil n I search the information n I found you channel great job God bless you ATTM Alexz.
I wear red wings typically. I usually get a year to a year and a half out of them. I actually haven't ever applied anything to them.....however, it's not typically the leather that wear out on my boots. I usually see the inside coming apart and wearing through plus the sole wears out. I guess I should look into getting them re soled. With all that said, I wear my boots day in and day out, all day long. I'm not a person who changes into slippers or anything else after work, or weekends.
Thanks for the tips. Very helpful. Can I apply mink oil to suede shoes? I really like the pair I have but they started to show some cracks.
Semper Fi! Good video, great pointers.
Thanks for the tutorial Devin
had my docs for 5 years n i never took care of them. they also cracked at the sole. bought a new pair and some mink oil. hopefully i take better care of them lol
Thanks for the instruction. Was good.

Hi. I need help. Does anyone know if (TRG brand) mink oil contains pork fat /lard? Could not find anything on internet.
What do you recommend to help protect against vehicle fluids brake fluid motor oil transmission fluid coolant
love it! Thank you!
Great video , just got some mink oil
Great video. Do you ever polish the boots? Would it be a bad idea to polish with kiwi and apply mink oil after? It is that completely stupid?
It’s the Sheetrock dust that destroys my boots if I don’t wash and treat em Do you ever polish em I always mink oil sometimes I want to get some color back Any suggestions on which way Polish or mink oil first
How often to you have to re-apply? Or do you just have to apply the oil one time
How shoud You clean oiled boots each day ? can U clean it with water wuthout making them bad ?
Great video, man! What kind of boots are those?
Thanks for the info
thanks so much man, you rock
Big thanks!
I heard mink oil can make the boots heavy is this true? I have black boots. So it’ll be hard to see color change.
hello , can you use that paste for black python skin boots ?
what if you leave the excess mink oil on? Aside attracting debris, is there any cons to doing that?

Can the mink oil help me stretch/break in my new boots? I tried doing water in the plastic back inside boots and freezing them method but didn’t help much. My steeltoe are a little snug.

I would say it definitely softens the leather up. You might try the mink oil and then use the hair dryer and 3 pairs of socks trick
@rayclark6371

Yes it will definitely help. Warming the boots up with a hair dryer or oven on low will help too. Warm them and then put them on immediately and walk around. Scrunch your toes and foot up in the boot to help stretch em out.
Remove the laces before waxing.

Seeing if trying mink oil will make there new boots last longer than 2 years. Concrete dries out the boots badly.
How often would you suggest this routine?

mink oil ? never heard of it 🤔
The key is getting QUALITY leather work boots... Sadly, I've learned that at least here in Canada, that means spending at least 250$. Mine cost 290$ + tax. Crazy horse leather, which is the only thing last lasts me. I could barely get 6 months out of a pair, now I get a whole year. Buy once, cry once.

Mink oil they had it for 10 CAD at the local Walmart up here.
I honestly did nothing to my work boots and they've lasted for 2 years of everyday use. Never oiled they were fine. In my opinion voile ing your work boots it's like oiling your baseball glove (which i never did!). it makes the leather too soft and collapsible
@truckcampertraveler7369
3 жыл бұрын
you must have doc martins ?? real work boots like my nicks builder pros don't get too soft and will last 20 years of taken care of heavy 8 oz leather
@Matasky2010
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, well if your leather sees enough sun (UV rays), rain, etc the leather will eventually dry out and crack, deteriorate, etc. It's an animal skin that no longer gets the natural oils it did while living. A baseball glove does not usually see much rain, nor does it get used everyday unless you're a pro.
take them laces off !!!
Really gloves. Wuss. 👎
