Applied Pharmacology 7, Drug dose calculations
Look, this video is not for casual viewing, its for people who are serious about professional health care. This is the same sort of lecture you could expect at during any university course, but this one is free. Health care should be off the people; for the people; by the people.

I just want to say how much you've helped me and you don't even know it. I found your KZread channel last year around November, and it was the best thing that's ever happened to me. I've gained so much knowledge and confidence from all or your videos. I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am to the fact that this is free education, and there's not a lot of people that would do that without selling something. Thank you so much Dr. John Campbell, for all that you've done and inspired, because without you, I wouldn't have made it this far in nursing school. 🥰

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You have explained in a way I understand and I will now have more confidence going into my Non-Medical Prescribing exam next week. It's great that you explain the calculations in two different ways. I always like to visualise the calculation rather then using the formula as it give me the reassurance I am giving the right dose. Thank you.
THANK YOU ...THANK YOU... THANK YOU!!!!!! I'm a medical assistant student and we just started our pharmacology course and I was completely lost. After watching your video I have a way better understanding of how med math works.
I’m in my first year of pre-med and currently studying for my Pharmacology exam. This has helped so much!!! Thank you

Awesome teaching methods , l m a visual learner and l love the way you teach thank you❤️
Just when I think I have it, it gets scrambled in my mind. I salute all medical personnel that can carry this information and formulas in their heads. It is almost impossible, for me, on paper.

Thank you. You saved my life today. I work in busy medicine unit
Awesome , the what you want over what you have got x what’s it’s in is the easier method when working on a busy acute medical ward as a nurse 👩⚕️😀. Still requires a 2 nurse check though to avoid drug errors . Like to revisit drug calcs though often to refresh my brain .
Would you plss tell me what volume of solvent i add for dry extract for mice dose calculation? Thank u sir..
Thank you... love your vids! :) Happy Holidays
COOL! I AM a mathematician and your 1st method is how The Ancient Egyptians did Multiplication. BRAVO! 👏🏻💊 I showed this method to my students yesterday! 😁 Also that calculator is SOOOO GREAT! Well built and long lasting...not the Crap Calculators they make in China these days. Is it made in Japan? Germany? Love the pen too. 🖋❤️ Flo Nightingale would be proud! 🪔 I will be asking my students to watch your videos...Thanks Mate! 🤓💊💊💊💊💊💊

in your video you have shown the calculation for pethidine instead of prednisolone, and thanks for such any easy methods for dose calculation.
Indeed! Thank you. 👋
Dear Professor, I am trying to implement the work done by Suyu Liu, “A Bayesian Phase I/II Trial Design for Immunotherapy”, using R, since the code attached with that work takes a lot of time (more than 20 hours and the code not complete, I do not know how it produced the tables and the figures). So that I tried to use trialr package trying to get similar or approximate results using the utility functions for sensitivity analysis in table 1 (picture below), but this package allowed me to use just two outcomes ( toxicity, efficacy ) and the work of Liu used three outcomes (immune response, toxicity, and efficacy). I want to see if I used the correct utility (table 1 below) and to see how to add a third outcome ( immune response ) to the model? (Question 1) I attached to you the code and the output for 50 iterations and 60 patients from the work of Liu and Yuan ( I cannot do more, it took around 12 hours), if you know how he produced the results, (Question 2) I hope you can feed me back. My goal is: to use their idea to select the best dose in the first stage and to continue in a second stage with only 2 arms clinical trial and the best dose. (may there is another way to do that?) Table 1 ### My code trying to get similar results using trialr package ### rm(list = ls()) library(trialr) ## Utility from table 1 and Liu and Yuan work. Uti

Hey doctor. Thank you for your videos. We are not allowed a calculator for our exams as nursing students 🥲
A patient is prescribed 2.5mg-5mg of morphine sulphate. You draw up 10mg of morphine sulphate and dilute it with 9ml 0.9% sodium chloride. The total volume is 10ml. How many mg does each ml contain?
Hello John, could you please demonstrate changing opioids i.e. converting 30MCG to Ordine 2mg/mL. Thank you
Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you so much dr💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Where did you get this pen? I need!
for 6:40 isn't it easier to just calculate what 100mgs is? so 2mls times 2 and you get 4 mls = 100mg. you need 10 so divide it by 10 on both sides and you get 0.4 = 10mg
Thanks 😊 you sir this means alot for us 👍
Very beneficial way ,and easy
If my patient is 7 years old n 22kg .i want to prescribe syrup pcm 125mg .. How much ml sud i give to my pt.. ?
Why do u not work out how many mg are in mls? E.g. 50mg in 2ml is 50÷2=0.04 then multiply by what you want 60=2.4? This is the way I've always worked out... obviously with a calculator. Once you know what the mg is per ml then you can do any dosage
I am taking 100mg Lacosamide epilepsy tablets twice a day. My gp has put the quantity as 114. There is 14 in a pack. How is that worked out please?.
A lot of thanks like million times

Whats the meaning of mls?
How many osmolarity make milliliter
A 2- ml vial contains 50 mg pethidine. If we want give a patient a dose of 60 mg , how many mls would be given?? We can cross multiply: 2 ml gives>>>50 mg pethidine ? ??ml >>>>>>60 mg. 60mg × 2ml _____________ = 2.4 ml. 50 mg
