This video lesson demonstrates how a large mass called a tuned mass damper suspended inside the top of a tall building can dissipate excess kinetic energy by oscillating. Dampers attached to this mass help to dissipate the kinetic energy further by converting it to heat. This lesson is part of the Ansys Innovation Course: Structural Instabilities.
