One of the best review videos... I am getting fed up with the videos of the speed tests - some real world use and an interesting discussion about it afterwards is much more benefitial... good work!

One key difference between the M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max is the amount of monitors that can be hooked up being 1, 2 and 4 respectively. This can be a game changer for some.

@@thepremiernoob8491 Pretty late reply but its two external monitors. I know for the MBA there are workarounds to get more than 1 additional external monitor but its a pain. I imagine the same applies with the other chips to get more out of them...

Thanks for the honest video. I do audio editing and after seeing so much coverage of how the top spec is the best, I was feeling like that was the move. Glad to see coverage of the the base models still reviewed this positively. After watching this I'm quite confident I don't need the max.

Why? Honestly I gotta ask why people with zero tech knowledge buy Apple... Having literally been in a class where everyone made the college switch from Mac because they are so poor why? They are basically like supermodels. They look nice but in reality do very little. The compatibility is so bad! I mean I am guessing you haven't seen the new Intel chips and how they are basically gonna show up M1 and AMD will mostly like do the same. Apple computers decided a long time ago that they were the tech company for people not into tech... But at least iMacs looked cool and were fashionable... Just wanna know why this is fashionable now? Cause beyond it being a "Oh I have a Mac actually" I can't see why you kinda people own them.... Enjoy spending that much for 4TB of storage and ignore the new chips and the fact DDR5 is now coming meaning in 2 years time your $5k machine is obsolete. OUCH! I rocked a MSI GT80 that was $4k for 6 years and its still running and can run anything I throw at it... At least your m1 pro will still be running... I also love the fact that nobody is benching them for workstation to show how poor the things actually are compared to Intel/AMD based systems that are similar price. The fact that it can be beaten in rendering times in blender and Maya by a $2k laptop with AMD in shows you all you need to know.

I love this vid man. So chill and is exactly what I needed to know because I always feel like I NEED to get the best of the best but if you can do 3+ streams Sony 4k than with no hiccups than that is just fine. Wish I could talk to him a little more bc I was planning on getting one. Also want to know what you think the best camera for KZread with great video and still would be right now. Yeah, thin laptops feel fragile to me personally. Thicker laptops are more tough in my head and I worry less about dropping it when I’m using it.

Oh, this is the most nicest unboxing i've seen. It's like, i'm there, sitting i the couch and just chilling. :) Great job, as always! But this one was special for me at least! :)

M1 with 16GB and 512GB SSD is $300 less, but to have 75% performance cores, that 14 core GPU, the ports, the screen, the function keys... I was sold and got the 14" the very next day. That is over two months now and absolutely loving the performance of the M1 Pro.

What do you use it for, mate?

I totally don't notice the notch at all. It so often blends in and the additional screen real estate is worth it. I love the new MBP. It is bulky compared to my previous MBP, which I haven't updated since 2015.

Finally! you got one. I like the 14" and waiting for it to receive.

I'm all in on the 14" model (coming from my 14" Matebook X Pro). I wanted the 1TB drive and I wanted it FAST so I splurged on the in-store spec 14" 10/16/16/1TB config. Didn't need the full fat M1 Pro SOC but 5 years from now it will hold its value vs. the 8 core so the extra $$$ is not too bad. Way more laptop than I need but I just couldn't go for the 13" screen and old form factor after waiting years since my 2015 15" died.

16" is just so much better of an actual experience. If I were flying and commuting 5 times a week, I'd consider the 14", but for most normal use cases, it's significantly more usable.

When your job is to export videos or render 3D object all day every seconds cost money. Especially since professionals time are worth $100+/ph in developped countries.

Your vice with “no dongle” is playing in my mind all day 🤣

I rly appreciate this kind of video! More of those :) I want the 14 inch but don’t need it, the 13 inch makes much more sense for my use case but I want 120hz mini led :D

Excellent review and conversation regarding the new MacBook Pro 14 and 16" models.

I just got the 14” M1 MacBook Pro with 32GB and 1TB ssd from my work. Even though there is a learning curve coming from a PC, the Mac is so smooth and the quality of the machine is an insane upgrade. I am learning quickly how to operate the Mac as well.

Very nice! I’m thinking of getting the 14-inch with 32gb and 1TB

I totally loved the time lapsed part of the video!

I really love the lights in your videos

Something many people dont say in there review, which was pretty important for me, is that the macbok can also charge over usb-c which is genius! I'm a pc guy, but as mediadesigner i use a macbook at work.

"No Dongle"... the next greatest hit. 14" for me. I'm so used to my 13.3" Macbook Pro and have come to enjoy the portable size and then just plugging into my monitor when at home.

I remember watching a video of yours years ago. I was interested in purchasing a new Mac and I came across this video. Dude I can’t believe you killing it by just reviewing products lol who would of thought KZread would pay out so many people. 18 mil subs wtf lol that’s insane 👍🏼

nice review! I think when you were commenting about the use for most people, I definitely agree that M1 is enough for most people, but you were then saying 'unless you really need the ports'… that's true, but I do think the screen will be the main factor drawing people to the M1 Pro devices, and probably the speakers too.

The experience you provide for the whole unboxing experience is better than VR and MKBHD combined!

Would love to see a 3D modeler/3D computer animator review a 16 inch MacBook Pro with M1 Max chip!

The way he made fun of " wow ports are back" i loved it.

Unwrapping sound is so satisfying

I‘m with you on the fact that the base model can get most things done easily. However, IF I felt the need to upgrade (speaking of the 8k future) one component, what should it rather be (for Lightroom and Final Cut Pro / non-professional editing)? Max out the M1 Pro chip, or get 32 GB of RAM? Thx for the informative and entertaining video.

Chip all the way man. Ram isn’t super important but computing power is.

Choosing between the 14" and 16" macbook pro is the toughest job. It's like choosing between iphone 13 and 13 pro max.

I have the 14in pro.. I never seen a battery like this in a laptop So satisfying

Yeah my MacBook Pro 2015 128gb was holding on for its dear life. And it finally couldn’t hold on much longer. So I don’t think I have much of a choice.

I like the butterfly keyboard too. Upgraded from Macbook Pro 2017 to Macbook Pro 2020 and there’s something about the lower travel distance that I like. I also like the touchbar. I guess I’m part of the minority who loved those implementations.

Me too, I'm upgrading from the 2017 to the M1pro 16inch, and I'm gonna miss the butterfly and the touchbar, I like them both

I purchased the base model 14 inch to stream shows, listen to music and browse Twitter........It's also my first Macbook ever and I'm so happy with it. Had $100 off.

Great video. I have a M1 MacBook Air that is more powerful than I currently need, but after going to my local Apple Store I really want the 14" MacBook Pro for the display!

@@ethanduke813 Depends on work you do. If you do a lot of coding, photo or video work then a Pro is what you need. Also if you just want the best display maybe go for a Pro. If you just surf the web and use productivity apps most of the time then the Air M1 or M2 is the way to go.

Great video. I think Apple has been dedicated to creative professionals, not gamers. Back in Jobs day they designed even the Pads to assist the creative process. Who would buy the Max, professionals who have a work flow beyond KZreadrs editing level.

OK my justification for the notch not having Face ID on the Mac is definitely because of the thickness of the screen itself… If you’re looking at the thickness of an iPhone you’re talking probably three or four times thicker than the area that you have on the MacBook… The notch is to house all of the camera components in such a thin lid

The design reminds me to the uni body macbook pros from 2011. I wonder if they couldn't fit in face ID into the lid because mini led takes up more space but they will be able to eventually shrink down face ID and hopefully not charge too much extra
