Apple Lighting to 3.5mm Adapter with External Microphone Review
Ойын-сауық
www.edutige.net If you have an iPhone 7 and you want to connect an external microphone, your only choice is to use the Apple Lighting to 3.5mm adapter dongle thingy. So I wanted to find out if our Edutige external microphones are compatible with the Apple Lighting to 3.5mm dongle. Long story short… YEP, all of the EIM series Edutige external microphones work flawlessly with the Lightning port on either the iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s or iPhone 5.
The video shows a test of an EIM-008 external microphone connected to an iPhone 6 via the Lightning port, but other people have tested the Edutige microphones with the iPhone 7 and other iPhones with the Lightning port and everything works great.
One thing to be aware of is to connect the microphone to the Lightning to 3.5mm dongle and then connect the dongle to the iPhone’s Lightning port. If you don’t, the iPhone will use the built in microphone instead of the external microphone. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
The cool thing is that if you are vlogging, making videos for your business or recording audio with your iPhone 7, you can now connect a 3.5mm external microphone using the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm adapter. All is good.

Short and sweet. Really important that you mentioned the order of connection
thank you for this video, was having issues with "Lightning to 3.5mm" to work with headset on calls but now managed to get the mics on my headset working with the dongle.
Thank you, I was about to send my mic back since my iPhone didn't recognize it, now I know WHY, and it does work perfectly now!
Thank you so much for this video! Literally answered every question I had!
Thank you so much! I’ve been fidgeting with it for awhile but sure enough plugging it in as you said worked great for my iPhone 11
Thank you. The tip to connect the Jack to the adapter and then attach to iPhone worked. Saved my day!
You gave me everything I needed to know. Thanks a lot.
You are AWESOME! Thank You So Much for everything you shared about hooking up an external microphone! It really helps me with what I'm looking to do! 👈👍😊
thank you. Your video helps me save some money for the equipment.
Brilliant! A pleasure to watch. Thank you.
Omg! This actually worked for my Boya Mic. This video is it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks a ton
Thanks for the video. I recently purchased a Rode wireless2 and it was a little frustrating getting it all connected with a mic. By the way, I tested an older Edutige 001mic and it worked great with the Rode system. I will be dropping a video soon regarding the test. Also, I didn’t buy the lav version of the 001 mic and at the time you didn’t sell the lav clip separately. I found a lav clip from Movo that works great. I’ll include that on the vid. The 001 mic is still serving me well after about 3-4 years of use. Good little mic!
Hey Man! Thank you so much for this video. You made my day! 🤞
Even in 2020 your advice is helpful and relevant! I succeeded in hooking my seramonic 500 to my iPhone 7+. I hope you’re still out there safe and loved! You should have 50,000 subs!
This is sooo helpful! Thank you!
Thank you very much. You made my day. I was about to throw away my microphone and the adopter because I thought it is not working. Then I did what you said in the video to connect the mic first then connect the lightning cable and it worked. Thank you again.
thanks for this man! solved my problem!!
Cool. Didn't think that would work. Good to know.
Very very good job with this.

I used the same procedure with my razer kraken pro. The issue still exists.
Thanks for the nice video, mate! Cheers from Europe!
Omg please put the "plug lightning in AFTER plugging jack into lightning adaptor" way up front in the video. That's the problem I had too.
no way!!!! I was ready to return the adapter! hahaha! tks, man!
Great Vid, great info.Thanks😊
Many thanks. This was helpful. 👍
direct connection doesn't work on my iPhone se and iPhone 6s, so I connect my Saramonic smartrig+ in between and switch to 48v phantom power, then it works, hope that help1

Hi, thanks for the video. I do have question. I'm using my iPhone 7plus to stream fb live through my mixer though a bus send using also irig2. The problem I encountered was I have low volume playback. I ran a dry test through my video in phone and it's low volume. I turned up all known volume faders on mixer and irig connected to this bus. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
It works! Thanks!
I am connecting a Rode Shotgun mike (which I bought to connect to my Canon 550D) to my iPad Pro 10.5. So far I'm just connecting it via the headphone socket (via a TRRS adapter). Will I get better quality using the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm adapter?
Hello dear, i have done all the steps, but the voice is not clear , its quality is poor with the TRRS on iPhone but the mic is working good with direct 3.5mm jack using andriod cell phone can you help please!!
Before I can even try that adapter, I lost that. So can you please tell me if it supports calling functionality for the stock iPhone 7 lightnining headphone.
Are you aware if this will work for an auxillary cord into a car stereo? Currently my lightning to aux adapter will play music from the car stereo, but will not allow the microphone to pick up my voice for a phone call. If this doesn't work, do you know of a solution? Thanks
I tried same with iPhone XS and Boya M1 but it’s not working? Any idea what could be wrong?
Great video. Thanks for al! Do you know where to find an adapter that plugs into iPhone Lightning port, and provides headphone port (3.5 mm), microphone port (3.5 mm), and power (lightning) port on the other end? Thanks!
i have wireless go, sc7 wire and adaptor for iphone but my iphome se still uses its own microphone. how to use wireless go on video. what do i need to see in the screen ? or turn on? thanks and regards
Thank you friend! Your video is support me.
Thanks ima try it
is the lapel mic also good for live performances, when there is background noise and you want it to be directed in one direction?
I bought 2 non-original lightning adapters and in fact the microphone is not heard. do you think that with that adapter I can plug in any earphone and use its microphone?
How do you make the iPhone not register my mic as a headphone.
I’m trying to use my turtle beach recon 50x with the lightning connector, with iPhone 7 and it makes a ticking sound every second, PLEASE HELP ME!
Can I plug a splitter to it then use both a mic and earphones
So I purchased a directional mic and am us by the Apple 3.5 to lightning adapter for my iPhone 8plus and it’s working for the mic though when I FaceTime or video chat it disables my speaker making it impossible to hear my friend. It appears the phone thinks my mic is headphones too maybe??? Can you help?
do you know if they make an adapter that works with the external mic but also allows you to charge the phone at the same time?
Can you use a Y adapter to plug in 2 microphones at the same time?
does this adapter make wind noise in outdoor? cuz mine do that in my iphone11same boya mic i use in my old android but no adapter, there is no wind noise.
Can we connect stereo microphone on it also. It record stereo or remain mono. Please share your experience
Great point on the plug-in-sequence. When the lighting cable is plugged into the phone and the phone is negotiationg the sort of signal/device its supposed to handle -having the mic already plugged into the 'dongle' ensures the phone can correctly know "its got an external mic". Otherwise how woudl iOS know to override the internal mic.
does it work at time of streaming via streamchamp app ? as i will connecting my headphones having mic with lightning to 3.5mm adapter....
any solution for earphone’s mic not working? whenever i turn on mic in my game with my earphone and cable on, it transferes to speaker and for my voice memo the mic uses iphone’s mic not the earphones
Hello how are you? I just bought it and tryin and trying but no sounds it doesnt work...are there any setting we have to change on our iPhone ? please help me
Why is my phones built in mic picking up sound but not the mic connected to my phone. Have tried multiple recording apps and they all take sound from my phones mic instead of the one i have connected
Any idea if this is also the case with iPhone 13 ?
Please I need assistance. My mic work only when I’m voice recording but don’t work when I’m video recording. Is the issue from the adapter?
Does anyone know if this also works with the belkin adapter? I was wondering if I can charge and get audio at the same time.
Hi, when i connect my Boat Rockers 510 Headphone to the jack for recording in any app. (be it smule, starmaker, garageBand or even in voice recorder it works fine. But when i connect the any external mic (be it Boya BM-800 or omni directoinal mic) it's not picking the voice from it.. It records from Built in mic. Even after trying as you explained. What might be the problem? Frastruated. Waiting for the Reply. Thanks
So satisfying 👍🏼👍🏼
What would you recommend to also charge the phone while using the microphone? Is there an option other than a wireless charger? I purchased one with both ports but it was not working for the microphone feature, only hearing on the headset I have? Thank you!
I am using iPhone 7 Plus. For some reasons lavalier microphone isn’t working with my phone. Even though I am using iPhone adapter and following your tactics. Any idea how to solve this problem?
Can this be used for audio in fb live for a Dj set? Can I use it to connect to the Dj equipment?
Hay! Great video! I recently ordered a 'Beginners Vlogging Set Up' (new, and from amazon sadly) to improve my videos etc. I was advised to get the 'Lightening to 3.5mm Headphone Adpter' from UGreen? It doesn't work? Do I HAVE to buy the official apple one? Many thanks!
Does it work with the iPhone camera app when sending in a line signal using the adapter?
It’s work on voice record but video camera still not working ! How can I do? Thank
I have just purchased an M80 and I can't get it to work with my iPhone 8. I bought an aftermarket 3.5mm to lightning converter as my phone didn't come with one. I have tried the above method and still not working. If anything it stops the recording. Any help on this is much appreciated.
Hi what king of adapter i have to use with my irig 2 ? Is it just what you’ve showed in your video? Thanks
I wonder if this will work on Android devices since they have a USB C version? one thing's for sure the headphone output is absolutely Stellar as far as audio quality
Does this work for phone calls too? Will my voice go through the mic when receiving and making phone calls?
Hiya, quick question: does Apple make these themselves? I want to buy the genuine jack but they look no different to those that are sold from China. I've been looking on Ebay after my first one broke after a year of everyday use.
I have to use the original adapter to work?
this video lacks the most important info: - the lightning adapter on the 3.5mm side has a 4POLE (female) jack!! most of your mics have a 3POLE jack (3or4 metal rings on jack/TRS or TRRS). you need an adapter like this: edutige.net/shop/etg-003/ or a 4POLE mic (if to skip a 2nd adapter)
How could you use headphones with this? If you had Bluetooth headphones which had a mic would the mic from the headphones override the mic plugged in through the lighting adapter?
its not working on my iPhone ... maybe a change on the new IOS? can you try it now?
no info about TRS/TRSS ...will it work with any mic? is the adapter compatible with TRRS 3,5mm?
Thanks for video!!! Its helpful really. New frind
Do I need TRS microphone for that Apple Adapter or TRRS mic? Thank you
And now the iphone 14 is coming out soon haha! Does it work with EDUTIGE ETM-001 plug in into iphone 11 for video recording? Thanks!
This is a useful video, however, many after-market lightning-to-headphones adapters only support headphones and do not support microphone or call or remote functions, and while the official apple product may meet this criteria, it would be worth reading user reviews to assess the likely longevity of this product. I'm still searching for a reasonably priced adapter that will work and will last.

Does the microphone also work with video recording with this piece? I think the part must be original, I bought one that is not original but it does not work with video shooting
Thank you for the info..
My lightning cable is connecting as a bluetooth earphone & I am frustated, unable to solve this (vocals are lagging due to this in garage band)
I have a question, can I use my Sony headphones with built in mic. U kno the one with the wire. I have the iPhone 7 Plus and I just wana use my Sony headphones with the built in mic.
Excuse me, do you know if this Iphone's 3.5mm adapter CTIA or OMTP standard?
Will this work for camera video recording?
Thank you for sharing Stay safe
Make sure you wrap the cord with electricians tape to make the cable stronger. Good ick.
Does the adater force u to turn on bluetooth?
Do we still need to use original aux 3.5mm from iphone to make it work? Still low budget to buy the original one bro 😞
So we dont need to use bluetooth with the adapter unlike the lightning earphones?
This didn't work for me using an Apple adapter. Any suggestions?
"plug lightning in AFTER plugging jack into lightning adaptor" - who knew??? NOT ME!!!!
How about for video recording?
Does the adapter support stereo microphone? Thanks.
Hey I had a question if you could help me out
