@@Spoonfed78 Ya. Their stock was taking a hit because of the lack of AI development/delivery and shareholders were making a lot of noise. What better way to shut them up, make the markets think Apple was giving something new and innovative than to give a “show” of what’s coming. The problem is they didn’t mention it’s not coming all at once, to all devices, and not soon.

It's a great point about letting the customer decide what and how his personal data is managed. I used Android for many years and got tired of the 2 years and your phone is obsolete plus the lack of control and lockdown on what can or can't be shared. Moved to iOS and still missing the way superior alarm app from Android as well as scheduled messages. At least the scheduled messages are coming. The privacy is way better, app integration is also better. And I still receive updates like all the newer iphones.

Apple is actually way ahead of everyone else on AI. They had machine learning in their chips for sometime now. Try the ultra 2 or series 9 watch with seri on board. So fast and great to use. They were moving in the direction of personalized AI all along. They already figured out how to miniaturize AI to a small device instead of huge power hungry servers. Cant wait for the next few years of improvements.

As an EU citizen, computer science graduate, and legal advisor, I can see both sides. I see a company that adopts an incremental updates approach, pressured by investors, now claiming to be slowed down in its innovative path by a market with more human rights, which promotes equality of opportunity and transparency. Of course, a tech giant is upset when it can’t trample on small businesses and startups. Let’s be reasonable: we all want features, but not at the cost of our rights. It’s not a good tradeoff. Sure, let them innovate, but we should take our time analyzing the implementation process. I really trust the EU's sublime legislation.

The only downside, I could see what the EU forcing Apple to allow third-party App Store on their phones over there is someone’s phone getting hacked because they downloaded an app that wasn’t from the Apple App Store

The problem actually has a ripple effect. One negative to if you can side load, the developers have no incentive to put there apps on the App Store, which leads to less secure, lower quality apps for everyone. Now more phone get compromised which is also not good. Can only hope that devs put their apps on both the AS and their site. Maybe charge a bit more on the AS or take the loss and write it off on their taxes, that way people still have a place to go where they can trust what they are installing on their device. I’m a developer, and i have never been able to understand the complaints with Apple taking a cut (malls charge the stores rent), you can write that off on your taxes as a business expense. Whatever doesn’t really matter to me, just another side of the discussion.

This is what happens when governments involve in technology: censorship. Apple is one but to sell to the world it has no choice but to follow their government decisions. And for being good following rules, Apple usually gets the blame.

Always enjoy your videos. Quick question about the new version of Siri, when seeing the Apple demos it still seems that Siri makes you read many of its responses rather than verbally answering the question. In some cases of course, the answer needs to be read but many times it should be able to give the answer verbally (of course also giving you the transcription as well). When the beta of the new Siri features is out can you talk about this and let us know if it is better than the current version?

I get what you're trying to do here but the discussions are a little bit to nuanced. You call it nuance, but there's just a lot of excess chatter. Apple Intelligence Delayed Indefinitely did not have to lead to a long winded discussion of an entire family still living in the same house. Sticking with why Apple Intelligence will be delayed is relevant. Family letters are not. I'd like to know why Apple Intelligence is delayed. Did Apple make announcements long before they were ready to be announced so they could mitigate all the chatter about them being caught by surprise by the LLM and generative AI leaps. How about discussing how there is no need to wait for Apple. Apple may have the ability to permeate the OS with intelligent agents to assist users, but there is a broader spectrum, the one in which developers create their own AI tools, using OpenAI or Claude or Gemini and so on. Ease off on the extraneous stuff. This video is 23 minutes long.

Why we can’t download the LLM AI models do a dedicated home computer or Apple TV and have our AiOS devices query a truly personal secured private network. A lot of techies would us it. If the LLM is too large then the split it amongst several high capacity storage computers, then query models across networks. Yeah a little geeky but Apple Intelligence wouldn’t be breaking any laws because it all local and personal. Then seed updated models every night to user so they can update their own peer networks.

The excuse, and the reason for the delay is that they wasted engineering time, money, and expertise on the discontinued Apple Car project. I don’t know which top Apple executives thought it was a good idea to build a car from the ground up, demonstrating that Apple clearly has millions of cash to burn. They should have just partnered with an existing car manufacturer. The wasted time, money, and engineering they spent on the car project allowed other important Apple products to be neglected as far as hardware, and software innovation, etc.

@@wanderingfool6312 understood - but forcing interoperability when there’s an existing stand and standardizing/unifying on hardware interface is less destructive than saying no you cannot build that feature, or if you build a feature you have to give away any advantage you get as a platform by having that feature. There’s a line and the EU is dangerously close to crossing it and removing innovation for the platform owners
