Forgiving a cheater only has 2 outcome: Rarely: They are remorseful, and never cheating anymore. Commonly: They just become sneakier hiding their next affair, or doesn't even bother if you caught them again because they thought your forgiveness as a doormat-ness.

I kind of wish we heard more about what happened with Alex and Tammy. Like, Alex eventually ended up doing to Tammy what he had done to his ex-wife or it turns out that Alex was never the father of Tammy's baby to begin with, but Tammy decided to make it seem like he was since he made more money than her baby's biological father. Or, maybe, Tammy was never actually pregnant to begin with and was lying about it to give herself a better chance of stealing Alex away.
