It doesn’t matter if it’s facebook or Snapchat, As long as you use the internet and put in your information on the internet, they know who you are. If you use a cell phone, they know who you are. There is really no hiding from the government.

Just don't share any sensitive information over the internet. It doesn't matter who handles your "privacy", don't trust anybody so easily, it's still vulnerable.

I left Facebook ages ago because of this very reason. For starters preventing Facebook from getting data from safari on my iPhone would help. I still have no idea how Instagram shows me deals on drum machines especially after a few minutes of me browsing safari for various drums. Can anyone or you Tim, please enlighten me as to how I can stop that?

What does it say about Tim Cooke of he comes to Ireland demands high level public service from top gov officials to get planning for a data centre and then drops it; especially after the Irish government backed him against an eu claim that he apparently evaded 13 billion in taxes

Apple your business model isn't Advertising based. People pay thousands of dollars for your product and have privacy in check and you can afford to do so.

Did he even mention Zuckerberg?

It is wrong to profit from user data but is alright to throttle your phone so users will have to buy your newer models.

I don't always agree with Apple's tightly closed ecosystem business model but I do think Tim makes an extremely salient point about the concept that you have to accept data collection as a trade-off for engaging with "free" services" and that if you object or complain about how your data is being further monetized you are somehow anti free speech or anti "small business"(es) who rely in part on the harvesting and processing of that data. it's not a zero sum game.

Everytime I go on face book all I see is bots sending me freinds requiests I literally deleted the app after I recieved a 2nd one because of my privacy concern I mean I could get hacked accepting them and it already happened to me once.

Facebook and Twitter should be given a MA rating.
