I really hope gm supports this in the new refresh Sierra models. Would really make all the 22/23 model owners a little disappointed since we have OTA updates making these additions kind of a no brainer for GM. Only thing I would ask from apple/gm is to make the current apple carplay able to use the entire infotainment screen and not just a section of it. Fingers crossed boys!!🤞

THIS!!! Just got my Sierra 1500 and Apple CarPlay doesn’t take over the whole screen. When will this be fixed? Is there a work-around?

I use and LOVE CarPlay in my 2018 Silverado (and my prior 05 Sierra that had upgraded unit). My system is wired. I tried one of the Carlin wireless CarPlay adapter but never could get all the glitches out of it. I’m wondering if this new setup will have to be wired to make all the goodies work, or if all of them will function wirelessly. If anyone knows of an affordable way for me to go wireless in the meantime, please let me know.

I have a 2003 Silverado 3500. Had a kenworth aftermarket radio installed with plug in apple play,. Its ok, a pain though cause it’ll sometimes disconnect etc, but its really neat when it works right.

Have a 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 13” screen and digital dash. I’m wondering/hoping that these updates will work if they’re being released in late 2023. Any thoughts?

Something like an app that can force a regen or at least tell you when one is coming would be nice- or more accurate on DEF levels than currently than what we have- still lovin’ my refreshed’22 AT4 ❤ .

Question…I know GM states that the 2025 Sierra EV Elevation will have the new google system. But the Edition 1 is due to come out in early 2024, so will it have Car Play? When I looked at the official released video for the Edition 1, it showed it having Car Play. What do you think?

Was anything mentioned if the 2022 refreshed models will be upgradable, or will it only be available on 2023 and newer vehicles?

Nothing in regards to backwards compatibility yet, we’ll have to wait for apples next updates on it.

As soon as I saw this I was wondering if it would work in the new Silverado/Sierra with the digital driver information center. Hope we see support announced soon.

My fingers are crossed, it's possible that it won't be backwards compatible....BUT I don't know that for sure. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for any updates from Apple or GM when it comes to CarPlay, I'm really stoked about this update.

@@BrianMello I dont think it will because Nissan came out and said that their new cars in 2023 will support this when the new carplay drops. I think a statement like that infers that 2022 cars wont support it, but maybe not or maybe not all manufacturers. I think manufacturers wouldnt go out of their way to make it backwards compatable because not doing so incentivizes customers to buy a new car with the new features

Will this be in the new 2024 traverse

This looks great in this Hummer. Any idea if this will be available in 2023 GMC Sierra? I have a 2022 on order but I will cancel that and wait for the 2023 just for this.

I love this and use carplay often, as long as they don't use a subscription fee or any charge for that matter. I'll be there tomorrow to pick up my truck Brian! Maybe I'll say hi!! :D

Honestly, I'm surprised Apple never instituted a fee for CarPlay...I think it would make way more sense for them to do it than the auto manufacturer. Not that I want to pay anything extra either, but if Apple is going to bring more talent to the table, and give me regular updates to improve it and add new features I'd probably be ok with a SMALL fee. I'm not sure if I'll be here all day tomorrow, but certainly ask for me and if I'm in the building I'll come say hi! Tomorrow is going to be a great day for you!

Not sure yet if there will be any backwards compatibility. Apple will be revealing more info later on this year, and I'd expect much of the news to come around November when the new iPhone is slated to arrive.

I drive a 2019 Camaro and rarely use CarPlay. The Chevy Infotainment 3 does everything I need it to do and honestly I’m not sure how I feel about Apple taking over this much of the vehicle’s electronics.

Sounds like another subscription $$$$

I’d be ok with it….if it’s Apple whose charging me, not the auto manufacturer. Costs money to develop quality software, update it, bring new features, etc none of which the manufacturers will be doing.

I wonder if this will work on a 2023 Chevy Bolt EV??

I'm 33 and i'm a tech geek. With that said, I use the infotainment system that came with my 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 more than Apple Carplay. Idk I just like the regular system better. It's not as pretty, but there's all kinds of things it can do that Carplay can't and it just seems to work better. I hope the car companys still continue to innovate their systems and don't just give on that side of it bc of Android Auto or Carplay

Right? I think its possible Apple see's this as a way to entice more people to get an iphone...and it could work!

My wife’s enclave has it and there are some very annoying parts that I wish they could fix because the dealer couldn’t help. If my wife is a passenger in the car and I am driving listening to the radio is she does anything on her phone to takes over the radio. I am listening music and she gets on facebook as a passenger her videos begin playing. If I get in the vehicle in the garage and her phone is in the house, the last book she was listening too begins playing in the vehicle as a back out of the garage even though the phone was inactive. If she gets in the vehicle as a passenger her music starts playing or her audio book begins without any commands or instructions…. She didn’t want to listen to it at that time either. There should be a way to turn it off or one when needed, not automatic

Decided not to get that ram trx….it was a pos 😂. My ultimate Sierra Denali will be in on the 12th with the super cruise. I hope they update the system to support this 🤞

As of now I haven't heard anything planned for a CarPlay subscription....BUT I think from a business standpoint it would make sense for Apple to charge a small monthly fee, NOT the auto manufacturers. Now I obviously would prefer to pay nothing more, but if paying Apple say $5 a month get me recurring updates, more robust features, more customizable options, etc I think I'd be ok with it.

They need to fix the engine issues.

How did apple manage to add so much customization to a vehicle before it could do it to the iPhone lol

Any news on when the update will be available? Ford has already updated its infotainment system to utilize the full screen. I wonder how many years it will take for GM to catch up.

This is not in my 2024 Sierra

I will stick with my analog gauges. Looking at what it will cost to fix the software engineer's malfunctions and when the hardware goes south.

GM will get this … but probably 3-5 Years AFTER Ford, Ram and the competition Like Always! They are behind the curve year after year and this will look doubt be the case again.

This might make me switch back to apple from android. Then again Android will quickly follow.

Oh great. Let's integrate Apple Products directly into the cars main electronics. Now we'll be forced into buying a new car every two years because the software starts slowing things down. Seriously, what happens to these ultra expensive vehicles 3-5 years down the road when things such as your main displays become obsolete because newer phone technology doesn't work with it?

You put all that high tech crap in these cars and it distracts the already distracted drivers even more than they are now. Nothing from Apple is awesome.
