People need to just be kind. It was sad that there was drama in that hostel that kept you from a good night sleep. Thanks for sharing the reality of the trail. You were awesome getting over those fallen trees. Congratulations on 400 miles!!!! I enjoy when you talk with others on the trail.

I personally love your celebrations of singing and dancing at your milestones. The saying is "make a joyful NOISE". That means you don't have to be perfect. Ha! It's beautiful to those who care about you. Right?

We usually went over the blowdowns on our bellies, however, each blowdown definitely requires thoughtful consideration and a unique approach. You really had a lot to contend with today!

You guys are amazing! I find it interesting what the shuttle driver said about the trail changing. As someone who has been following thru hikers since 2021 and someone who is slowly section hiking the AT, I have noticed this. I look forward to meeting hikers such as you two when I am on the trail!

That third tree would be the easiest over for me. That actually reminds me of my childhood…. There was a downed tree near my house that I like to play on. That fourth one would be my first under, by the way….

I’d like to admit that I snore pretty loud , snoring is a physical affliction and I can’t help it. I warn people that I snore and offer them ear plugs if they don’t have them, I normally will choose a bed that’s more secluded from others. That’s not always an option. If there’s open beds in another section of the hostel, I recommend that they go there. Here’s my horrible experience, two young ladies came into our room and I informed them that I snore, they blew me off and continued to talk and be on their phones into the night, not only disturbing me, but others. I finally must have fallen asleep and I assume that I snored , because I was awakened suddenly by one of the young ladies turning the lights on and off and making noise so as to wake me and unfortunately others that were sharing the room. I was startled awake by her actions and it really bothered me for a few days. I did speak to other hikers about these two young ladies behavior and one was a French lady. Just as I was genuinely letting the incident fade away, I did hear that mysteriously her boots disappeared and somehow only a pair of flip flops were left behind. I’m thinking that I was not the only one she had a beef with. Be kind to each other. I did carry that incident with me for a while and it weighed me down. Cheers Mark P sr

I think snoring is acceptable. I know it is hard for others around, but the snoring person cannot control it. Ear plugs is a must on the trail. Rudeness is not acceptable. Terrible that happened to you.

Yes, I usually use them for ice cream money for Captain as he loves them and it is getting summer now so I suspect he will eat more. Next I use them for a town meal for both of us to eat real food in the real world instead of astronaut food. And I have used some for a hostel accommodation along the way. Thanks for asking.
