Stathis N. Kalyvas is Arnold Wolfers Professor of Political Science and Director of the Program on Order, Conflict, and Violence in Yale University. He conducted his doctoral studies in Chicago University and worked as a professor and researcher in various universities and scientific institutes in Europe and in the U.S.A. He is the author of The Logic of Violence in Civil War (Cambridge University Press, 2006), The Rise of Christian Democracy in Europe (Cornell University Press, 1996), and Modern Greece (Oxford University Press, 2015), as well as the co-editor of Order, Conflict & Violence (Cambridge University Press, 2008). He has received several awards, including the Woodrow Wilson Award for best book on government, politics, or international affairs (2007), the Luebbert Award for best book in comparative politics (2008), the European Academy of Sociology Book Award (2008), the J. David Greenstone Award for best book in politics and history (1997), and etc.

Από την ομιλία κατάλαβα κάτι που μου διέφευγε: ότι έχω αποτύχει στο να μάθω (έγκαιρα) από κάποιες αποτυχίες μου.

He is telling his success story, starting from the end (the success) and then explains his failures and proves that the way to success is full of failures. Sounds pretty basic and you will find many speeches like this one, but every story has a meaning. He pointed that the way to success isn't by scoring a small goal and then a bit bigger goal and a bigger and finally the big success, but the way to succeed is through failures and if anyone says the opposite, he is a liar. He also said that in Greece there is a norm "Find a sure job with sure job prospects and don't take risks because you will fail" and he said it's wrong. We don't have to be afraid of failing. Sr for my low english level, I tried my best

Ο κ. Καλύβας είναι απόδειξη πως το σχολείο της παπαγαλίας απλώς βγάζει οδοντίατρους, μηαχανολόγους, κομπιουτεράκηδες, κομματόβιους, κοκ. Το να είσαι μέτριος μαθητής σε τέτοιο σχολείο είναι δείγμα ότι είσαι για κάτι άλλο, για κριτική σκέψη, την οποία οι παπαγάλοι δεν διαθέτουν.

Στην Ελλάδα ούτε μηχανολόγος ,ούτε οδοντίατρος μπορείς να γίνεις αν δεν έχεις κλίση στις θετικές επιστήμες
Καλά και ωραία με όλες αυτές τις θεωρητικές ομιλίες στο Tedx. Στην ουσία όμως είναι αμερικανιες, γιατί όταν μιλάμε για έναν εργασιακό μεσαίωνα τύπου Ελλαδιστάν, απλά είναι παραμύθια χωρίς πρακτική εφαρμογή....
